It's one of those franchises that has flagged in recent years, despite featuring fantastic early installments several generations ago. But EA remains firmly focused on revitalizing the Medal of Honor series.
EA has announced that MoH will be returning but for the first time ever, it will not bet set in World War II. Perhaps taking a cue from the Call of Duty franchise, the new Medal of Honor will be set in war-torn Afghanistan, and we will be introduced to the Tier 1 Operator, which is "a relatively unknown entity directly under the National Command Authority who takes on missions no one else can handle." In order to insure a high level of authenticity, developers have been working with actual Tier 1 Operators from the US Special Operations Community, and apparently, this adventure is actually based on "real events." Furthermore – and this part we really appreciate – EA has one internal team dedicated to making the single-player campaign fantastic, while they've enlisted the help of their talented DICE team ( Battlefield: Bad Company , Mirror's Edge , etc.) to handle the multiplayer aspects. Said Greg Goodrich, Medal of Honor Executive Producer:
"When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier but bring it into today’s war. The Tier 1 Operator is the most disciplined, deliberate and prepared warrior on the battlefield. He is a living, breathing, precision instrument of war. We are honored to have the rare opportunity to work closely with these men to create a game that shares their experience."
The game will enjoy a full unveiling at this year's Spike TV Video Game Awards, which will air at 8 p.m. PST on December 12. Being a fan of this franchise from the time the original captivated me back in the PS1 days, I've been disappointed to see the series flop this generation. But it seems EA is taking all the right steps to give us a truly great Medal of Honor effort. Awesome.
Would love to see a return to form for this series. Hearing that Dice is helping out boosts the confidence a little.
Everyone wants my online gaming time. What's a gamer to do?
quit your day job.
I thought this franchise was replaced by BattleField Bad Company? Well here's hoping EA makes the next game decent or better.
On related FPS news, the public MAG beta just started, but the bad news is that the entire beta will end by Saturday 🙂

thanks to modern warfare 2 mag was dead especially for those who had the gamestop exclusive beta test.
MAG is that situation, where a game takes too long to come out whiles others like it have already been out(MW2,Killzone2) and being played to the death by fps whores. So by the time yours comes out(MAG), they might have had enough.
the mag beta was awesome, but I don't like playing beta's for too long because when it ends you loose all those hard earned stats, and you just don't feel up to playing it as much when it finally comes out
M.A.G. is flippin' awesome and I don't care about losing stats when the full game comes. Since everybody will be starting from scratch.
Competition usually breeds better products. Good for EA on taking a stab at Activision's market. Both companies will be inclined to make even better games now. They'll sharpen each other.
Well it looks like the Middle East has become the new Germany for videogame developers. I can already hear the critics saying "and yet another generic modern war game"
I hope it can do battle with Call of Duty, which is squeezed dry. But in the end it is yet another FPS in a sea of them in which we drown.
Yay another shooter!!
*sigh*
Does anybody else see a similarity in concept to 6 Days in Fallujah?
Both are recreating an authentic, modern, real-world war with the aid of actual soldiers, aren't they?
Why, then, did 6 Days get totally bagged while this game is not only being developed but being heavily promoted. Why is one ok but not the other?
1 because its just been announced, the media probably does not know of its existence yet.
2 that was based on true battles, making a video game of it to some people is insulting.
i agree there kinda being Hypocrites but meh what can you do?
OFLC a perfect example.
sawing zombies in half in a episode of south park is ok for a M rating which has no age restrictions, a 8 year old could legally watch it.
sawing limbs off in GoW is a MA rating, so you have to be 15 unless a adult buys it for you.
but than L4D2 gets banned.
L4D2 basically has what that south park episode had, in TV form its M anyone can watch it, in game form its RC so no one can play it.
WTF?
i swear to god this country has its priorities all fu***d up!
I see it, but because Fallujah was a majorly controversial battle I think it got more flak. It is something unfortunate and sad that most people want to pretend never happened.
wait a second I thought you had to be 17 to buy an M rated game, or are you not from the US
War crimes took place in Fallujah, people high up want to see any mention silenced.
nah AU theres no age restriction for M here.
the stupid thing is games keep getting banned because we have no R rating, so there re released as MA which is 15+.
whatevers MA here is normally M in the US like KZ2 GOW and so on.
the whole reason why we dont have a 18+ is because one d*ck does not want kids getting their hands on said games.
so he re classes them as MA instead of R.
so hes effectively doing, what hes setting out to avoid, but hes to arrogant to notice that.
i think the reason why hes doing this is because hes a old cook catholic, his electorate is 99.9999% full of old cook catholics.
he lets a R18+ in he looses his seat there for his job.
thats why i think hes doing it, because, seriously he cant be that stupid to not notice hes doing what hes setting out to avoid.
fear 2 for example, got banned, than passed as MA.
if we had a R rating kids would not be able to play it, but we dont so kids can go in with mummy and buy it.
because most parents either dont care, dont know how bad the game is or just want to shut their kid up.
im all war gamed out ATM, but IF its set on real life events maybe it can be kinda interesting.
wont hold my breath though.
1 thing ill ask for, add a cover system.
thats 1 thing that drives me insane with MW2.
your forced to take cover, especially on higher difficultys like veteran but you cant.
your friends, your enemies can snap their back to cover, pop out fire a shot than pop back in.
SO WHY THE FU** CANT YOU!
i hate it when games do that, force you to do something but than make it as difficult as humanly possible.
modern warfare 2 on veteran wasnt hard at all. all of the cover/environment is good enough cover, all you need is to crouch or go prone. Modern warfare 2 veteran is nothing compared to world at war grenade fest. I know what you mean though, killzone 2 made it work on single player and thats fine. we dont need cover systems on online fps games though, it slows the game down. That or they're be just a bunch of campers hiding the whole game.
online is debatable, i actually really like the cover system for uncharted 2 and am intrigued to see how it would of effected KZ2.
but cover systems for shooters are a must, the bit i found really hard in MW2 on veteran was the oil silo, just where they through the smoke bombs.
because they can get you from left right center behind or any other direction you can think of.
if there was a cover system, would of made it easier and more tolerable.
My thoughts exactly Doosharm, I was looking forward to having a peak into what actually went on over there when they announced Six Days.
Single Player campaign is and will always be most important to me in a game. I really hope they can revive the series with this one. Airborne was a decent game, but in the end it was just another WWII shooter and had very little replay value for me. I love the first two though, along with Allied Assault. Here's hoping they can pull it off.
another FPS… I wonder if the fans on this genre never got tired of them.
I think they do but new, young fans evens it out.
I wonder if it can overthrow Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 from its reign!!
Pineapple, I'm with you. Single player will (to me) always best multiplayer on any given day. It's about the experience and that's why I'm looking forward to Heavy Rain. But yeah on a more related note, the Medal of Honor series used to be my FPS. I loved Rising Sun, it was awesome. Them damned computer players on multiplayer mode were beastly. Especially this one guy named…Bromley, yeah Bromley…that guy was beast!
P.S- Medal of Honor: European Assault sucked @&*.
<<<<Said Greg Goodrich, Medal of Honor Executive Producer…….."When we first set out to reinvent Medal of Honor, we wanted to stay true to its roots of authenticity and respect for the soldier but bring it into todayâs war.>>>>>
You should have just bought the "6 Days In Fallujah" story, I see it as a perfect match to what you just said.
And don't worry about any controversy that may arise from it, you just gotta think of it as being worth millions of dollars in a free publicity campaign.
Now everybody have done the same as Battlefield.
Battlefield 1942 – ww2
Battlefield 2 – mw
Battlefield 2142 – flop, sucks – Future warfare
Call of Duty 1,2,3 ww2
COD:4 Mw1,2 – mw
Plans: Futuristic warfare – Will suck!
Medal of Honor 1,2,3,4,5…ect – ww2
Medal of Disshonor – Mw
Future medal of Disshonor = Final death for the series
Sad
tbh u say future warfare will suck cant be backed up at all since the games havent even made on yet par bf which is on pc
And you say Battlefield 2142 sucked but yet it sold well and had good reviews.
Looking forward to how this will turn out 🙂
Q!
"i am home"
i liked Medal of Honor: Airborne
So to me Medal of Honor has never flopped. I did however want to see soemthing new and Airborne brought a little new with alot of old though. This game though sounds like it could be really good. Heres to the single player!
I am already excited for this game due to the involvement of the NCA.
The prospect of playing out real events is intriguing as well.
I hope they stay with and evolve the open world feel that they begun in Airborne. I am tired of linear FPS.
I have always supported the MOH series, and actually liked the campaign in Airborne, so this is probably a day one purchase for me.
id like to see some vids, im guessing the awards on spike may show some off? ive always enjoyed MoH and now to go real time? thats cool, since i didnt get MWF2 and went AC2 and GOWcollection ill be keeping an eye on this one.
It always surprises me to read so many people hating on FPSs. Nobody's forcing you to play them, but customers ARE forcing companies to make them so we'll have more and more as the years go by.
there are so many haters out there. I love sports games as much as FPS, and I also hate it when people complain about mysports games.
Don't play them if you don't like them, there are plenty of other games for you to enjoy.
yeah the concept lacks originality and sell good..just like britney spears ,jonas brothers or lady gaga .

@ photo K – That's what I'm saying. "Oh no another FPS!" as if they're being forced fed these games. What do you expect?? 4.5 million sold in 24 hours? Of COURSE more fps games are coming. Just like more GTA games are coming, more FIFA are coming and more Fallout are coming. These are the games consumers are "using their wallets to reward devs" with.
I think people are mostly annoyed that too many titles are made into FPSs, even when they'd be better as another type of game (e.g., Chronicles of Riddick, Quantum Of Solace, even Half-Life).
If developers feel the need to shoehorn every cool concept they have into a FPS in order to make money (e.g., BioShock, Mass Effect, Fallout 3, Borderlands–even lesser games like TimeShift, Jericho, and Legendary), then the games suffer.
And if every AAA-budget project becomes a FPS (which thankfully hasn't happened YET), then what good games are there left for us to buy?
Yay. The first FPS I played was Medal of Honour: Frontline on PS2.
Good times.
That game rocked.
Well pleased it's coming back and not doing the ww2 as that is played to death in my house ;-( but i'm not sure if i'm happy with dice doing the multiplayer player part as i and a real good few other gamers have had problems with bfbc online, but you never know they just might get all that sorted and just hope EA don't just want the money of us for a half done game ;-( but to be honest it doesn't sound like it but do it ever lol.
