Dante’s Inferno Demo Confirmed, Hits PSN Before XBL

God of War III is going to rock your socks but you may require action sustenance some time sooner.

EA's Dante's Inferno , the game that appears to adopt many of the combat mechanics found in the aforementioned franchise, is slated to drop in early February. We love the look of it but if you're not convinced, feel free to check out the playable demo that will arrive on the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace this month. Normally, this is where we give you one date that includes both services but EA has decided to give the nod to the PlayStation 3: the demo will be on the PSN on December 10, but Xbox 360 owners will have to wait a couple weeks before it comes to XBL on the 24th. Why? Well, we have no idea, but we're certain PS3 owners won't be complaining. Said Inferno executive producer Jonathan Knight:

"The world of Alighieri's Dante's Inferno is such a rich, detailed, and often alarming universe, that all of us at Visceral Games put our hearts, and dare I say souls, into creating something truly intense and exciting. We hope gamers enjoy this tease of hell, and come away from the experience lusting for more when the game comes out on February 9."

For the record, the final product is certainly scheduled to ship on the 9th for both the PS3 and the 360, so don't go getting any weird thoughts in your head. Let's just say that this demo is a nice little holiday gift for PS3 owners from EA, and we definitely appreciate the attention. The end of 2009 could be all about Sony's machine, so perhaps EA is simply seeking to capitalize on the console's new-found popularity.

love how developers are showing us just a bit more love, demo or not.

Beautiful

Should be a nice compliment to God of War

Though, in my opinion GOW will always be king, unless shown otherwise (meaning I'll have to play GOWIII and THEN decide if Dante's Inferno was better)

But yeah, should be fun

I don't get it. What do we ps3 owners benefit if the demo is released two weeks before the 360? Are we supposed to get some sort of pleasure out of it? Because I certainly am not feeling anything. EA has noticed the growing ps3 userbase and wants to buy the love of ps3 gamers since they know that we have been disappointed with their actions for a while now, so we can buy their games.

That's awful ignorant of you to say. These people at EA work their ass off to bring us video games each and every year and you think they care about some perceived "console war?" They're not trying to buy any PS3 love, they already have it.

To be fair.. the more likely scenario is that they work their ass off to SELL us games every year.. I think it is ignorant to think they are just doing this for our benifit.

That said, I will gladly take advantage of anything substantial they offer up sales pitch or not

derr, maybe this time they realized the way to do it was to do the work on the PS3 so it would be easier to make it function on the poopbox instead of the other way around. Ours is just done early.

EA already said they are going to use the PS3 as their leas platform going forward. Makes sense we get the demo 1st.

This game actually looks really good. I sure hope they don't scare people off with a lousy demo.

Is EA trying to suck us Playstation owners in? I mean, the way they have been treating us lately has been… well, different compared to other companies. I can confidently say I love EA if they're going to keep this up.

First BFBC2 Beta now this.

Well EA financial reports show that they make more money on the ps3 than on the other 2 consoles, so it not really surprising to see EA "cuddle" with the playstation 3.

Looking forward to the demo as I still have loads of EA Store credit to use, should this be an enjoyable experience. Is that February 9th date firm for both the PS3 and Xbox 360? I've seen a couple retail sites showing the PS3 getting a delayed release; seven days after the Xbox 360.

Im gonna pick this up definitely. I think EA really deserves to be rewarded for changing their strategy with newer IP's. This because it does look awesome!

This is one game I'll order.
What kind of GOW fan would I be if I don't get this?

One of my most anticipated games of next year! Gotta say, I'm glad I'm a PS3 owner. Next Thursday I'm going to enter and conquer the first level of hell. Takes mastering your fears to a…whole…nother…level.

great news, gaming is getting better and better on ps3. my xbox 360 inventory has not grown since i bought the magna carta 2 and will not grow any bigger in the immediate future.

Bayonetta, Dante's Inferno, Darksiders, Lords of Shadow, and GOW3. PS3 Slash Actions will rock soon, the only one I labled as great in this category before was DMC4 and Ninja Gaiden series for this gen on PS3. (heavenly sword is close but no due to its tedious arrow and cannon funtion, and Prince of Persia is way too easy)

Yes. EA has been showing PS3 owners the love lately. First the free Brutal Legend DLC, then the exclusive Battlefield demo, and now this.

And it doesn't end there. Square-Eidos has been giving PS3 owners some lovin' in the form of exclusive Joker challenge maps in Batman Arkham Asylum, and now Square-Eidos has stated the PS3 version of Just Cause 2 will have some exclusive content.

I've been watching the videos of this game and I'm very interested in it. I think this, and not Bayonetta, will be the sleeper title among the first quarter 2010 releases. Probably won't be as good as GoW 3 but close. I especially love the quote for this game: "Go To Hell."…classic.

Yeah from the footage I've seen I'm definately leaning towards this game, however I dunno if it can be a day one because of all the sick muthafackin games coming out around that time. But since Dead Space I like EA again and I'd love to see a game devs take on Dante's version of Hell. I also hope the graphics are up to snuff because GOW can spoil a guy.

Yeah the demo is gonna require a massive amount of space. I don't have a problem with space right now but it's going to take at least a day or two for me to actually completely download the demo. Darn you slow internet connection!
