Ben-DutkaThere are certain things a Final Fantasy title should always have: chocobos, moogles, and Cid.
Now, Cid can take just about any form – he's certainly not always the same character – but there absolutely must be someone named "Cid" in every Final Fantasy installment. It's just a rule. And thankfully, it seems Square-Enix will continue that tradition as we get our first glimpse of Cid Raines , who was revealed in the latest edition of Jump Magazine. He won't be playable but then again, Cid isn't typically playable, anyway. He's a Brigadier in some mystery military group (a group that isn't PSICOM, which we already know about), and if you want to see the scan itself, jump through the previous link. I was kind of hoping Cid would be playable this time around but leave it up to Square-Enix to keep long-standing – albeit mostly useless – traditions alive. All we need now is to have chocobo races and moogle vendors, and we'll be all set.
FFXIII launches in Japan on December 17 and will find its way to North American store shelves on March 9. If you're not excited, you just don't care about RPGs.

That is one good looking Cid. Havent played the PS2 versions of FF, but i remember the old days, Cid used to be some old and fat mechanic.
I hate the fact that ffxiii is coming out in japan in about two weeks and I will not resist the urge to find out everything about the game on youtube before it's released in the US.

I've occasionally thought about learning Japanese so i can play all the cool rpgs before everyone else.
Then i figured im too lazy and i'll just wait for it.

I did too….all i could learn is numbers and like 30 words…then i got lazy.
Thought about it? I took two years of Japanese courses in college for that reason…
I wish they had japanese courses in high school. I would have totally went for it.
lol. what about biggs and wedge and all the other guys. i have a feeling they gonna be in too. They are gonna be like guards or something.
The one thing i REALLY hope about this game is that it won't be hard like ffxii.
Though im still buying it….must…ride…chobocos…

what did you find hard about FFXII? personally i thought it was the easiest one. walked through the ending like it was nothing. i just hope we never see the gambit system again.

Well now its nice to see that this tradition continues… I don't think they'll ever get more popular then FF7 Cid though ^_^

I care about Western RPGs (like Bioware's games). I've never been a fan of JRPGs.
I liked Cid in FF7 – he was my favorite character. Shame he won't be playable.. oh well. For me it goes like this – from March'10 I'm disappearing for about half a year with all those titles coming in March 😀

if i find out the Jap version has English voice and menu as well, i will wait no more to order the Jap. version from playasia, just like i did with Bayonetta.

Always pleasent to se S-E sticking to FF traditions. I'm suprised at people complaining about the 3 month wait, it took FFXII a year to get from Japan get to europe. So im very greatful its only 3 months ^_^
Biggs and Wedge were not in FFXII, were they?
It would be cool if they stuck to OTHER traditions… like Sony exclusivity. Bastards.

Biggs and Wedge were in XII (I'm sure). I believe I saw them in the airships as Steward's most times I flew.

Why does Kangasfwa get heat simply because he doesn't like Japanese RPG's? Four thumbs down, I wonder why he got those? People need to be more tolerant of others with different tastes in gaming and with other things as well.
However…people looking forward to the game like me and just about everyone else on this site don't want to hear about those uninterested in the game. If you don't like it just skip the article. Everyone has their own opinion but please don't ruin the hype for a soon to be "great game". Make that 5 thumbs down.
Anyhow, this is a first day purchase for me!
