Mercs Franchise Lives Within EA

Pandemic may be through, but that doesn't mean their Mercenaries series won't carry on.

EA vice president of corporate communications, Jeff Brown, had stressed that the "Pandemic brand would live on" within the publisher, which is why we'll soon see The Saboteur , Pandemic's latest – and last – project. And now, according to GameSpot , EA has let the name "Mercs, Inc." slip, along with a leaked trailer that is no longer viewable by the public. EA senior VP and group manager Nick Earl said, "a core creative team is forging new ground and conceptualizing new ideas" for the franchise in question. The video you can't see now, as found early by Superannuation, featured both competitive and cooperative multiplayer action, a bunch of never-before-seen characters, and a whole lot of crazy action (as one might expect). Oddly enough, the end of the video says the project had been canceled but evidently, that's not the case and we expect to hear something official on "Mercs, Inc." some time soon. This is a series that was always entertaining if not extremely well polished, and we all know it has a boatload of potential.

As for The Saboteur , that's just one big question mark for us. It's one of those titles that could take everyone by surprise with its quality and playability but on the other hand… Eh, why be negative?
