Update 3.10 Causing Freezing Issues?

Firmware update 3.10 recently released, much to the delight of all you social networking maniacs out there; the update plopped Facebook into the XMB. But there appear to be problems associated with the latest firmware upgrade…

We're seeing multiple reports from PlayStation 3 users around the Internet – and PSXE readers – that after downloading update 3.10, their Blu-Ray drive isn't working so great. In fact, some are saying that every disc now freezes at some point; even Blu-Ray movies. We've seen this problem before because previous updates have also carried a bug that gimps the Blu-Ray drive, thereby causing Sony to issue a quick fix of some kind. Well, the only good news is that they may already be aware of this issue without all the forum hullabaloo. As noted by GOONL!NE , update 3.10 delivered an unannounced feature PC users might be familiar with: the "report" feature. As you can see by the pic provided over there, if your PS3 crashes for whatever reason, you'll have the option of sending an error report to Sony when you boot back up. So maybe Sony is seeing an influx of such reports with Blu-Ray drives freezing left and right, and if so, we can expect a response from them some time soon.

There's nothing more annoying than a freeze. There's just nothing you can do about it and when all Blu-Ray discs start doing it, you may as well drop the controller and cry.
