Demon’s Souls Could Sell A Quarter Million This Year

We always enjoy seeing excellent titles sell well but sometimes, developers aren't appropriately rewarded for their efforts.

Some were concerned Atlus and From Software simply weren't receiving the recognition they deserve, that the stellar Demon's Souls would flop at retail due to its niche hardcore RPG appeal. But the game has scored so well and become so beloved by that admittedly niche crowd, that EEDAR is now predicting one of the year's best could sell around 250,000 copies before the year is out. This according to PS3Center ; it has been reported that Demon's Souls managed to sell 150,000 copies in October alone, which – perhaps surprisingly – means it outsold the likes of multiplatform titles like Brutal Legend and Borderlands. EEDAR's Jesse Divnich makes the quarter-million 2009 prediction and says the title is "a tremendous accomplishment." This bodes well for the fans who are calling for a sequel, and we remind you of game director's Hidetaka Miyazaki's comment where he says he would "welcome the chance" to make an even better game if he had the opportunity. And what RPG fan wouldn't desire this?

It's just another example of the gamers stepping up and allowing a great developer like From Software to reap the rewards of producing one of the generation's best.
