Namco has been into the RPGs this generation; we've already seen Tales of Vesperia , Eternal Sonata , and Magna Carta 2 , but it seems they're not done yet.
They're teasing a brand new RPG that will be officially unveiled in only five days time. We have no idea what "RPG Lost" means or stands for but you're perfectly willing to toss up a few guesses of your own. Thing is, we really don't know much about it but the site has recently been updated with a hint: we see one message that says, "That RPG Returns," which certainly means role-playing aficionados will recognize the name of this mystery title. But what franchise are we talking about? We've already seen a new Tales so maybe we should look back to the PS2 and the .hack days; Namco produced more than a few entries in that series and we haven't seen a new installment in quite some time. Ah, but wait; we mustn't forget about Xenosaga , which many will argue is Namco's best set of RPG titles, and fans have been pining for another shot at KOS-MOS and Co. We're hoping for this dream to become a reality on November 21…
Now, all we need is for Square-Enix to tell us all about Vagrant Story 2 , and we'll be set. Either that or a fresh new Kingdom Hearts for the PS3.
lost RPG?.. xenosaga for sure!
I sure hope it is Xenosaga, if it isn't I'd prefer a new IP over any other sequel. But good on Namco, we can never get enough RPGs around here can we guys?
*Queue Highlander to bring the KOS MOS hype* 😉

He's late…
verrry late
Sometimes even I have to work….
I refuse to be pulled into speculation about the blue haired one.
😉
Oh, I should point out – of course – that a major plot element in Xenosaga is 'Lost Jerusalem'. So 'lost' may be a clue, but then again it may be a complete red herring.

Los does kind of lead onto Xenosaga which would be awesome but i really hope it's a .hack title. Either way i'm excited!!
Hmmm…
'Final Fantasy source not the same secret game source.' and "Either that or a fresh new Kingdom Hearts for the PS3."
[Adds to evidence folder…]
ah.. ummm.,, Namco bandai and please make it ps3 exclusive this time.. OK?.. bring back exclusive RPG's on PLAYSTATION!!
Let's hope they don't have another contract with Microsoft to screw Sony gamers for another year of wait.
lost rpg??? that surely is the chrono trigger series………but w/e…………square doesn even care……….
may b namco is mentioning the new xenosaga installment……that wud b pretty cool too
I love the chrono series. Would rather see that come back then xenosaga.
Good to see one company giving us a lot of good RPG unlike the company who tease fans with the biggest RPG of all time and haven't release a great RPG in years since *cough*FFXII*cough*.
Yes, I might sound like I'm losing faith in SE, but I'm not an SE fan, I'm just a FF fan, I'm not sure whether you'd see the difference in that.

I see much difference, SE fell apart this generation on all fronts. FFXIII is the final hope.
As if it won't save them, FF is the biggest RPG ever(in my opinion of course, but I'm not here to argue).
Now that FF is multiplat, I expect this game to sell at least 7-9 million copies.

I want Tales of Vesperia 🙁
Oh well, whatever they give us, hopefully it's a true jrpg and not a "westernized" rpg like FFXIII is aiming up to be (all those guns… *shudder*)
plenty of guns in other FFs too.
But no gun at all in FFIX.
It's all about the gunblades.
Guns are weapons too.
I thought Vesperia was already confirmed for PS3 – at least in Japan?
So what am I missing, how does "Lost" connect to Xenosaga? Unless it's a massive spoiler or something, I never finished the other ones but I liked em.
Ragardless of what it is the game would more likely be for either the DS or PSP given the fact most japanese developers seem to be focusing on those platforms mostly.
I'd like another Xenosaga but I'm hoping for another Tales of Destiny entry.
Speaking of Namco Bandai…
Where is Ace Combat on the PS3? An announcement would go along way for me.
Oh man, a new Xenosaga would be an instant pre-order for me. Argh! Now Ben's gone and raised my hopes….Namco will simply dash them again.
four more months… just fooour more months…
Xenosaga is garbage. The story is god awful, the characters are incredibly annoying, and the gameplay, though fun at times, was also cheap and unfair in the first or second one (the enemies could spam the boost, but you couldn't boost back to back on the same characters or something like that).
Don't dig up that grave, Namco, for the love of god…
One opinion, however misguided, is one opinion.
Look deeper into the game and you'll find the story. Incidentally, to me, Shion is a complex character and I see why most players of the game dislike her. However if you look at the character's back story, and experiences in her life, her behavior isn't actually that hard to understand at all. She's basically a case study in PTSD and dissociative identity disorder. If you can't feel sympathy for her plight and can't look past the way she deals with people, then you're pretty much bound to dislike her.
If you like Shion, it's easier to get into the story. As for the battles, it's a turn based RPG, level up and you have not issues with enemies boosting all the time.

Misguided? Look, I wanted to like it, but seriously Shion is like the worst character ever. She's soooo annoying and the story just refuses to progress, which is ridiculous considering it went from 6 games to 3, and then when it does it's an incoherent mess.
Another seriously annoying issue with the game is that it fails so hard at trying to sound futuristic and high-tech; they might as well have used "gizmo" and "doo-hickey" instead of some of the names they tried to use for their gadgets and whatnot.
It's like the video game equivalent of Bleach in how frustrating the narrative is.
edit:
I understood the story, but it was presented poorly. I mean I really don't think it would be possible to argue that the story is even remotely tasteful in its convolution.
As for Shion, they put a pre-teen in the place of a really intelligent, high ranking scientist. I understand that intelligent people can have emotional issues, even severe ones, but once you're like a quarter to halfway through III she just becomes absolutely unbearable. She's both an emotional wreck and a self-righteous pretentious b*tch about it (ex: "Why won't anyone help me!? No one cares about me!" — seriously, why would they even try to pull that?).
The boosting was annoying in principle — the AI was allowed to cheat and that's not really the right way to make a game harder, at least not without an explanation. They fixed that in the third one though, thankfully.
And since you've been mature about it, I want to clarify that I'm b*tching for my own sake, not to try to sway you or anyone about how they feel about the series.

This could get ugly…
@Alienage
Nah, not at all.
@Kevin
(Funny your name would be Kevin…ironic really….)
Anyways, 'pre-teen'? Shion isn't a 'pre-teen' in any of the episodes, nor in the flash-backs when the archetype was awoken and went nuts. If you think she was a pre-teen, you need to go back and re-play. Momo might be described as a pre-teen, although by Episode 3 they're clearly going for early teen, and since she's a Realian anyway, she's more of a product than a person.
Shion falls apart completely during Episode 3. You yourself ask the question about her behavior – "seriously, why would they even try to pull that?". Indeed, why? That's the point, she's not in her right mind by this time, so her behavior is far from normal. When the various revelations about her history happen and she's confronted by the truth about her former love – Kevin. It's a classic situation where her conditioned love of him is in conflict with her knowledge of his wrong-doing. He manipulates the situation knowing that she's emotionally destroyed and desperate for someone to provide her stability and 'love'. Kevin plays on that to manipulate Shion back to his side, despite all that he's done. It takes a greater demonstration of unconditional love to break her out of that.
Psychologically, it's a decent enough plot. Yes, the hokum about Udo is just pseudo-science wrapped up in pseudo-religion, but then this is a JRPG in the science fiction genre, should be be expecting anything else.
Either way, you have to admit that Shion is cute in Episode 3, and although the combat is not perfect it's one of the better truly turn based combat systems in JRPG to date – boosting AI excepted.

As much as I'd love to see another Xenosaga game, chances are Sony won't see it since Monolith Soft is primarily owned by Nintendo now.
I so hope its another xenosaga then I wouldnt have to wait anymore but I heared a rumor before of namco making another xenosaga so hopefully it is.
The director of Soul Calibur 4 claimed that Kos-Mos was in the game – haven't found her yet….
TBH, I wouldn't care if it were another RPG or not, so long as the main characters were able to at least guest in another game.
That said, if they can't get Lia Sargent and Brigette Hoffman for Shion and Kos-Mos in the English version, they shouldn't bother.

I would love it to be xenosaga. I've been missing my KOS-MOS and Junior, but geobadi is right
don't get your hopes up. it's prolly gonna b another timed xbox 360 exclusive
May I just ask, why has no-one considered Baten Kaitos? Just because it was on the nintendo gamecube?
Its certainly a lost rpg.
It fits the description and the artwork released.
And it was a great series.
