Ben-DutkaNASCAR. Rally. Road races. A variety of inclement weather. Gran Turismo 5 has a number of features to make any racing fan smile but perhaps it's still missing one major piece: motorcycles.
Now, this could pose a problem in terms of authenticity and realism, as Polyphony would really have to work hard to adapt; a motorcycle is nothing like a car so if the physics are to turn out just right, this addition might take some time. But according to an IGN Q&A with series creator Kazunori Yamauchi, if there's enough of a fan outcry for cycles in GT5, there's every possibility that the team may include them in the future. Or, and this may be a better idea in the eyes of many, they could simply start work on Tourist Trophy 2 . Said Yamauchi:
"…if that's what users really want in the game, I think that's a possibility. Or we could consider making a Tourist Trophy 2 as well."
Obviously, we wouldn't expect Polyphony to halt production and suddenly focus on motorcycles, thereby pushing GT5 further into 2010; we expect that if they really do toy with the idea, it might show up as DLC some time down the road. But actually, we're behind the Tourist Trophy 2 idea; GT5 will already feel very different with the inclusion of NASCAR, so we don't need to toss in more changes or additions. Besides, motorcycle fans have been waiting for a new Tourist Trophy for…well, for a damn long time.

Polyphony already made a motorcycle game,however to incorporate motorcycles into GT5 that would essentially mean completely transplanting Tourist Trophy into GT.
Now given the fact that Tourist Trophy has a unique customization system for both the bikes and riders it would impossible have do both.
Anyhow PD would be better off making a stand-alone TT sequel rather than trying to cram too much into one body.

Yeah, put the motorcycles in their own game. I think GT5 will have plenty of stuff to keep us racing enthusiasts entertained for countless hours without adding motorcycles, or monster trucks, or top fuel dragsters, or NASCAR for that matter.
It stikes me as odd that no one has made a motorcycle game this gen anyway.
Moto GP and SBK09, even Burnout Paradise has Motorbikes, DUDE!! 🙂
I stand corrected, but are those exclusively Motorcycle games? I mean I know some games have em. Just don't hear much about them I guess.

You can't race a motorcycle with a GTR. If motorcycles are introduced, it's not gonna be just one or two cycles. It'll be at least 50-60 new vehicles that needs designing. Let's focus on completing the game please.

This really would just be the only racing game I'd get, the rest are either too few tracks and cars or doesn't have offline multiplayer.
I really want to get a better idea of how it plays and feel. To be honest, I wasn't overly impressed with Prologue. I know a lot of work has been done on the game since; but I would need ti see exactly how they are going to play and feel with the updated engine, and how the game-play is affected with the new damage engine.

Looking back at the whole motorcycle in GT5 debate, personally I wouldn't mind the inclusion of bikes if it were limited either a Yamaha Mio,Yamaha Nouvo,Yamaha Zuma 125 or Yamaha T-MAX and there are dedicated races e.g. bikes only. The reason being is that these bikes don't require Tourist Trophy's rider customization system as they are nothing but scooters.

PD have said that they started completely from scratch in their coding. I assume motorcycle physics will be a little different than cars, so if it does make it, they'll have to really get on it. As you say, if it does come, it might most likely be download content.
Otherwise, GT5 will be the bargain of the generation for a 60 dollar racing. NO game will provide as much content PD is trying to put initially in a 60 dollar racing game.
Unlike some developers in this gen, PD thinks about what and how much possible they can put into the game intially, instead of saving their work so they could release it as future DLC. Kaz, "There will eventually be DLC, but it's not in our minds right now."
Then think about Turn 10's case with 400 car models. By the time they'll reach 800 models, the game will cost much, much more than the intial 60 dollars.
GT5 vs. FM3 is like Xbox 360 vs. PS3; same price, much different value. Don't make me say which one has the better value though..

Love it when new things are brought to the table of Gran Turismo, but the thing is….
it's going to feel weird driving a motorbike with your GT27 wheel. Unless they modified it be transforemed into handle-bars. Which would be FRIGGEN awesome.
