A little over two years ago, EA was as roundly chastised and despised by PlayStation 3 owners as Activision is today (well, the dislike of Activision seems to break all platform boundaries, but nonetheless). But these days, it's hard to argue with EA's productions.
We know Dead Space 2 is definitely in the works, and the original remains one of our favorite games of the generation. Mirror's Edge was another title that, while not entirely polished, it was still innovative and provided us with a fantastic foundation for the future (let's hope the sequel isn't far off). Those guys at DICE have really provided us with some great titles, and that includes the EA-published Battlefield franchise; Bad Company 2 is shaping up to be one of the most anticipated FPSs of next year. Most recently, EA handled the publishing duties for Bioware's excellent Dragon Age: Origins and in general, EA's commitment to "quality and innovation," made some time ago, has held. Companies like to make such statements for the sake of PR reasons but hey, you can't take away what they've done. Who didn't love Need for Speed: SHIFT ? Hmm? And EA is quick to remind us they've made good on their promise.
During a conference call, EA COO John Schappert referenced the increasing review scores for EA games. In 2007, they only managed to ship 5 titles that held an average review score of 80% or higher, but that number increased dramatically to 13 in 2008 and in 2009, they've already shipped 17 that managed to crack the 80% average barrier. Schappert concluded by saying, "No other game company can match our track record for quality." Well, we figure they're allowed to boast a bit. They've earned it.
I think they're getting a LOT better, but I'm still nervous about Mercenaries 3. I mean, I REALLY want to play it, but Mercenaries 2 lacked…um..a leeetle polish, no?
Mercenaries 2 was a fantastic good time. The glitches made it all the more fun IMO. I don't know about any Mercs3 but I'm getting it when it hits.
Sorry to mention this…I just heard EA had a big employee layoff…hope it ain't true…
Mercs 2 was FUNNN!!! It did glitch like crazy and took me FOREVER to get my platty on it because of it.
Whoa, you got the Platinum Trophy for Mercs? Way-to-go!!
Dead Space 2 or Mercs 3 would be no-brainer buys for me…
("Sorry charfan. You're just a Tool!") 😉
But according to Super_Secret, EA is the company that is causing trouble for Sony to introduce features like in-game music and cross-game voice chat?
@ Wage SLAVES – The only trophies that seemed to glitch for me (not in my favor 😉 ) was the air-strike multiplayer one. Still, it was a hilarious good time trying to get that one with some guy I'd never played with before… ooh… that doesn't sound right.
See what happens when you make the PS3 community happy?
Indeed!
Never underestimate the power of PlayStation.

I second that!
Q!
"i am home"
i cringed so bad when i heard that
"Never underestimate the power of PlayStation."
i luv my ps but that sound like something a fan boy would say
If Highlander is a fanboy of anything it is superior technology, as far as I can tell his knowledge on the issue is unmatched.
Oh godslim … you shouldn't have said that.
Nah, godslim
Fanboys would say:
"PS3 is teh b3st fuxxen console eva! Xbox sux"
@ godslim
I believe The Highlander is quoting an old commercial (I've never seen it, but I have heard the sound bite).
Brilliant company. Make good games aaaand say non offense things to the customers.
except blaiming the customers for the poor sales of dead space extraction.
they should of known.
1 FPS DO NOT SELL WELL ON THE WII
2 well any 3rd party games dont sell to well on the wii.
3 NO ONE WANTS TO PLAY A ON RAILS SHOOTER!
dead space was perfect, all they had to do was tack on wii controls and theres dead space extraction.
but no they had to fu** it up, they did not do their research, they fu**ed up so they blame the customer.
theres professionalism and arrogance at its finest.
they should know you never blame a customer for not buying your game, thats if you want to keep them as a customer.
Hello? That game is amazing buddy. It's certainly not EA's fault that it didn't sell. What EA should have done was come out and blame the one who is TRULY at fault. Nintendo.

they are the ones at fault.
they release it weeks within mario brothers wii and expect it to sell off the charts.
that, or mario what do you think ninty fans would choose?
EA are a epic fail when it comes to R&D
why the %$#@ did they have to make it a on rails shooter?
deadspace was perfect as it was.
"No other game company can match our track record for quality."
see again, another perfect example of what i said yesterday.
EA are so fu***ng up themselves its not funny, they turn out sh*t after sh*t after sh*t for years than somehow manage to turn out a few good titles and there redeemed?
O PLEASE!
"No other game company can match our track record for quality."
really?
well
ND
PD
insomniac
quantic dream
rocksteady.
R* games.
2K companies.
ubisoft.
kojiama productions.
capcom.
SE
sony Santa Monica studios
valve
ID software
crytek
all say otherwise, and i dont see them tooting their horn off.
sorry EA but your going to have to loose the arrogant attitude, and release good games for a few more years to redeem yourself.
5 years of sh*t and 2 years of crap does not redeem yourself back to good.
RAGE will kick the ^%$#@@#$%^$#@@$% out of battlefield bad company 2, so will BRINK but i dont see ID or bethesda bragging about it.
as ive said before, shut up and let your game do the talking.
EA have improved though, anonymous! That there is no doubt!
Q!
"i am home"
You really think so?
Did ND make racing games?
Did Valve make RPG games?
Did Quantic Dream make shooting games?
I'm not saying EA is better than all the dev you listed, I'm just saying that being a utility company they are making more than 10 top quality games.
EA develope and publish all sorts of game and most of them doesn't disappoint though there's many which are disappointments.

yous really did not read what i said did you?
im not saying they have no good games, everything they released last year i loved.
but 1 year of brilliant games does not make up for 3+ years of f**k ups.
they have a long, long, long, long way to go to earn my respect back.
i respect developers that turn out quality games EVERY SINGLE TIME!
not developers that turn out quality games once every 3rd release or so.
and their attitude and fat mouth aint helping.
Well I guess you're right.
But last year Dead Space was awesome, though this year…….and next year we shall have Dante's Inferno.
But they ain't the only one, what has Quantic Dream done for the past 4 years?
Valve's game isn't so legendary in recent years.
I see your point though, EA ain't the best but they're boasting that they are and the truth is there's no such thing as the best of all.
By the way, EA is publishing Rage.

Sweet man, more
^%$#@@#$%^$#@@$% and f*** **** lol
=D
yea they publish rage but there not making it.
i would go and hunt john carmack down myself if he put that into EAs hands.
though i wish they skipped that and went onto doom 4.
i need a game that actually scares me, doom 3 was the last game that did that deadspace was close but no bananas.
_______ You seem to make some popular statements on the forums lol man they give you all the thumbs down love.
yeah i remember one statement _____ made, he was mad that SEGA wasnt giving him MARIO and DONKEY KONG on his PS3. sometimes i think he may have played to many games he blurs things together
Hmmm…..as much as I like Mario to be on the PS3, but there's no way Mario will ever be unless Nintendo merge with Sony.
easy, install lynx a install a emulator, theres tons of them for the PSP also.
ive got a game cube and PSX emulator on my iphone.
PSX emulator on iPhone? Man serious? You know how to do everything.
huh?
its piss easy, you just need to know where to look.
Haven't played many EA games. However, from my experience with Dead Space, I feel inclined to say it is the best frightening third person shooter sci-fi action-packed spaceship exploring adventure I have ever had…(Stops to take a breath). Anticipating the next release.
they have got a lot better tbh with games like dead space, mirrors edge and bad company all were great titles
right now i like very much EA
I love what EA are putting out there at the moment. Unintentionally I've just realised that both Dead Space and Mirror's Edge are my most replayed games after finishing the story mode. I can also see myself running through the first Battlefield Bad Company game again before the second one is released next year.
But it is sad to hear that they're making substantial layoffs…is it ok to cut/paste an outside sites addi here? Just incase, the full story is over on Game Informer if anyone is bothered reading it.
one game that got some hate from reviewers that i thought deserved at least an 80% was godfather II… while it could of been better polished, it still delivered 16 hours of fun… probably 8 hours to normal gamers, i'm a little slower than most… i try to make 'em last longer…
i feel that many passed on it because of the review scores… and because of that, they missed out on a GTA-esque turf war game that warranted at least one playthrough…
i'll give EA credit where credit is due… they have truly held to that promise they made a few years ago… i've seen better quality and dedication to their projects recently… hell, even the madden franchise is improving by leaps and bounds over the past couple of years… it's not just a new game with updated rosters anymore…
congrats :)…

Mirrors Edge was a step in a brilliant direction, it made me play a FP game once more (excluding Fallout and Oblivion). Innovative and fresh.
True, but I'll be damned if I didn't stick to my Fallout 3 over ME.
