…as if this game isn't hard enough.
Say you're too old for trick-or-treating and you're not really into the whole costume party scene. So for you, this weekend is just another weekend, and you might want to dive back into your favorite RPG, known as the fantastic Demon's Souls . Yeah, well, watch your damn back. Atlus has sent out a disturbing announcement to all you Boletarian warriors; it issues a warning to everyone who wishes to jump online. Please pay attention to Aram Jabbari, Manager of PR and Sales for Atlus:
"Early reports from the Kingdom of Boletaria indicate that the Old One's power grows. We've discovered that the nefarious Demon will seek to descend the land in pure blackness on All Hallow's Eve. His minions will be more powerful, but the rewards for those who seek to challenge them will be greater as well. We don't know how long this dark tendency will last, but we do advise those prone to controller-into-LCD syndrome to proceed carefully."
Atlus…From Software…you guys are a bunch of psychos . This game has already been the direct cause of painful controller death for thousands (I'm willing to bet), and you're gonna make it tougher on Halloween?! Well, maybe it's the start of a new trend; maybe more games will suddenly become crazy hard on October 31 every year. Now that we think about it, that could be pretty damn cool… But still. Just…woah.
Sounds awesome. I really want to get this game but cant afford it right now…saving for COD instead.
Definitely will pick this up at some stage though!!
Use Best Buy's deal. You missing out, bro.
I would most definitely dude but theres no best buys in Ireland.
Great idea, and I'm getting the game, but not before Halloween. Hell even if I did I don't want to BEGIN at that difficulty!
Amen, Man, Amen!
*Slams money on the counter* "I'm out of the contest!"
So, you're no longer "Lord of the Manor" or "Master of your Domain?"
lol
Thank you for that memory.
This was a very clever idea. I wonder if other games will start making special changes just for holidays or special occasions.
Ready 2 Rumble Boxing actually did that sort of thing. The characters and rings were decorated for Christmas, Halloween and a few more holidays. Something like that.

Holy ****! :O
This game is such a gem!
I hope they update the game like this in the future too!
fun fun fun!
that is the most awesome/relevant thing i've ever heard of a dev doing. too bad i cut an artery, nerve, and tendon in my right wrist last friday during an accident at work. thus the poor capitalisation efforts, not to mention im posting from my dualshock3 controller. poor me im going to miss out on so much in the next 3-5 weeks! : (
hence the name naztycuts?
Worker's Comp, FTW!!

Man, making doughnuts is dangerous!
I am loving this game more each day! I luv that they are doing this. It shows appreciation to us fans, and shows that not all publishers are pricks.
You get an automatic thumbs up for your profile picture.
Someone gives a "thumbs-down" for a compliment about an AVATAR?
WTF?!
Nothing about it is offensive, stop the hate…
"…we do advise those prone to controller-into-LCD syndrome to proceed carefully."
Wow, I've got to get this game soon.
Excellent, I hope to have my copy delivered by tomorrow, which I picked up with Uncharted 2 and R&C ACIT, courtesy of BestBuy's buy one get one free deal.
Buy one get one free, huh? LOL
I got my 3 games tuesday. But I'm thinking about exchanging Borderlands for something else, since I haven't opened it yet.
Decisions, Decisions.
I'm looking forward to this.I'm currently playing Demon's Souls. Thanks for the info. Good luck to all the other Demon's Souls player out there.
Son of a…I can't even beat the False King on a non-Halloween day!
One of the hardest boss battles in the game. My knuckles were white beating him the first time. Once you get his timing down, he's manageable…..not by much.
There is an extremely easy and cheap way to beat him if you just can't manage it any other way.
I won't give up being legitimate! I really really really want North Regalia. I will bring more souls!!!
lol sweet.
YESSSS. This is great news. I love this game. I just survived the Flamelurker (quick bastard) and I need to get strong for my 1st Archdemon fight. Maybe this Halloween difficultly will help me get more Souls to upgrade my player.
Demon's Souls is such a great game. We need more games like this. Games that r 4 gamers, ONLY.
best place in the game to harvest souls is 4-2 right after the archstone. that's all I'm saying
Ironically, archdemons are the only enemies in the game that you can defeat with skill alone. They're more puzzles than anything. And yes, Flamelurker is an asshole.
i like how game developers are now able to add things to games without downloading a patch…well a few devs i guess. I just downloaded and watched a behind the scenes video of uncharted 2 and naughty dog. they said they can change/add features, like weapon damage, game modes, and other stuff without the need to download a patch.
Yeah as long as you are online then the need of a patch can be circumvented by having the programing done on the fly, just look at the store updates. You don't have to download a store patch because the information is running on Sony servers. Devs could all do this if they knew how/wanted to implement the ability.
Is this for both versions or just North America?
That is one of the coolest things I've ever heard. Why has no one done this before? Talk about finding a way to get people to play. I can't wait to see how much they increase the difficulty I'll probably be playing all day. I haven't finished or even played the game because I stopped playing after Uncharted came out and the only other game I've been playing are Mag beta and Socom (I don't think I'll ever be able to stop playing Socom, it just never gets old, even after all these years)
more proof DS is one of the most innovative games this gen.
Game of the year.
Oh. Darn. I'll be out of town and not able to play Demon's Souls on Halloween. Shucks. It's hard enough for me on NG+ anyway..I don't need to punish myself, thanks. Though I would like to see it. Damnit.
I am actually quite upset now that I am going to be in the Bay Area for the holiday. I am on NG+2 or 3 now and I just seem to be tanking through most of the game now and the upped difficulty sounds awesome.
Okay maybe I am not upset by missing this but it would have been neat to see just how much of a pain in the rear the higher difficulty is, and how much better the drops are. Always have next year I suppose.
Poor people who get the game from someone for Halloween.
This is brilliant. Makes me want to buy this game.
i just love this game, my whole leisure time has been with it since its release :O will see how dark the world tendency will turn into.
awesome post and awesome game!

sweet, this makes leveling up even more rewarding, since better drops happen in pure black along with more souls
Not a good stay to start up with this game. I don't have anything to base it off of but the first level drops don't seem that great, however I couldn't seem to progress that far starting off as the Wanderer.
