I remember reluctantly jumping into the Warhawk beta way back in the summer of 2007; I had never been a fan of flight games and I wasn't exactly psyched.
But it took all of ten minutes for me to realize just how much fun the game would be when it launched, and this online multiplayer title's potential was undeniable. Incognito has also continually supported the game, giving players all sorts of significant updates and extra content since that time, and the experience is very different from what we knew two years ago. It remains one of the best online games in existence, which is why we're happy to see that according to the leaderboards, there are now over 1 million players enjoying Warhawk ! Perhaps it seems like a long time to reach that plateau but bear in mind that in 2007, the PS3 had a very small user base and most owners these days didn't have Sony's machine when Warhawk first released. However, if you've been looking for a fantastic multiplayer experience that features excellent air combat in addition to invigorating ground battles, look no further. Incognito's gem also boasts the Greatest Hits price now, too, so no excuses from j00!
We'll also be interested to learn about the sequel, Starhawk , which is currently in development at Lightbox Interactive, a new studio formed by ex-Incognito members. They say it might have a single-player campaign this time around…
Related Game(s): Warhawk
I was planning on buying this game off the PSN but in the demo there was noone playing. I'd still consider picking it up but don't want to waste money if I can't find others to play against…So was this just because I was playing the demo? If I pick up the game will I find this 1million other players to play against or will I just run/fly around this barren landscape?
There's rarely a shortage of players in Warhawk; that much I know.
I heard someone say they never saw anyone on Warhawk anymore as well, but not on the demo. Hmmm.
I just turned mine on, it must be a glitch, I put all the stuff as everything, world, etc. And there is only 5 games, and only 2 I can join because of the expansion pack, something has to be wrong
This is the game in my ps3 right now, and i usually play CTF. i only have one expansion but have found you could get by without it. honestly there are 30 games available when i get on, and maybe a third of them are near full. if you really want it but are being picky on price, look on ebay. if you can find it, the resale value of that game dropped so fast you may be able to get it for $10-15 idk.
GO BUY THE GAME
I play Demo all the time and it is full all the time, that too on speed of 256 kbps. will be buying the full version soon.
OK just to update my first post. I took Bens and some other members word that there where indeed 1million other players playing this game and bought it. To my delight there where indeed plenty of others playing this game. So thanx for the recommendation guys and I'm forever in your debt as this game kicks ass.
To anyone who just tries out the demo and finds themselves running around an empty map (as I did), just take a leap of faith and buy the game…I don't know what it was about the demo but it's definitely not empty when you purchase it. Happy Days !!!
Most addictive game other than SFIV for me.
This game is a whole lotta fun!
Third person action + all kinds of vehicles? Win!
Amazing that only one million have bought it though. This game is pure quality…I was guessing it might have sold at least 2million + Oh well great game regardless
You're right about it selling over a million. I bought it a couple of months back and it's still in the wrapper. I'll get around to it.
awesome just awesome
I have Warhawk and have enjoyed it quite a bit; however I don't play it as much as I should…
It is quality… the graphics are spectacular for a PSN title. Very impressed generally!
Q!
"i am home"
Well… That's the thing… it really isn't a PSN title per se. It was released at retail and PSN simultaneously just like Socom. Now, Wipeout is a PSN excusive, at least until the disc version drops in Europe and Asia soon.
I hated warhawk when i got it. I got shot down every time i get in a plane, never even got to fly. Now i like it after they added the tutorials, pretty good at it now. My only complaint was that ranking up was a chore. getting enough experience and need to get medals too, and those were hard to get. I love running over guys with jetpacks with my warhawk though. thats always fun.

I cant fly the hover jets to well, but I can snipe all day long on this game. Sony needs to do some commercials for it for the new peeps who are buying the new ps3.
I never bought it because I thought it was just a PS1 game with multiplayer.
same
Hey don't you people thumb me down, it IS a PS1 game after all!
I was looking around at amazon after I had bought my PS3, and got the retail version for $20. What a steal, I played this almost every night for about 2 months solid.
I still pick it up from time to time.
Only bad things Warhawk was missing was a local Co-op campaign.
Also the Platinum trophy on this game is insanely hard to get, you need SO many points for General.
Despite those two things, this is still one of the best games I've played, only online 4 person split screen shooter that I know of for the PS3.
could of sold 2M if it had single player campaign.
same with MAG, MAG would be fuc**ng INSANE with a single player campaign, that could tide me over till zipper go back to the socom series (which they better under penalty of death)
as time goes on, games are suppose to have more and new features, not less.
Warhawk = best PSN multiplayer game
warhawk was a day one buy for me, i loved it, the only game that you could have 4 way split screen online!! kept me and my housemates busy for months on end, was a great game and i still play it every now and again, and theirs always people online.
Still havn't gotten it cuz i'm amways low on cash, but i had the demo and played that non stop. But then i rented the game owned everyne online cuz i played the demo so much. Gooood times 🙂
The game has something for everyone. Great online play.
It was a day 1 purchase 4 me, love it, totally hectic
bought it from europe downloaded the dlc from the american store ,it didnt work so i bought it from the american store ;), sold my copy.
brilliant i know . but seriously 1 mill ???
lots more of ppl should have bought it . honestly
I think the reason why it only sold 1 mil was promotion, for whatever reason it wasn't NEARLY as well known as say LBP or Heavenly Sword.
purchased it on the day it came out + got each expansion the day they came out.
absolutely loved warhawk and indeed more people should have bought it
is there much point in a sequel or would it be better to just make more downloadable content ? i would go for a sequel myself
I bought Warhawk and it was the worst £20 purchase I've ever made.
I thought the game experience was alright against friends but whenever other people were involved I just got annoyed.
I stayed well clear of the expansion packs.
Sounds like you got pwned out there, and didn't want to take the time to get better like everyone else.
There was never any sort of team co-ordination and far too many friendly fire kills. That's what made it suck, it had nothing to do with my gaming ability which is more than adequate I might add.
Everyone seemed to be playing it more like Unreal. Maybe that's how it was always intended but that wasn't my own expectation.
As for taking the time to improve, I don't have several hours per week to play games so dedicating all my free time to it just to play with 'run and gun' gamers isn't my idea of fun.
I tried but could never get on with Warhawk 🙁 Still have it, may have to give it another chance.
I love this game. I bought it very soon after it came out and of course there were a ton of people playing online back then.
Flying around in the Warhawk is so fluid and it just feels right. Top it off with ground fighting and vehicles and this game is HOURS of fun (trust me – I logged alot).
I do wish that it had a single player element though… this game just has so much potential.
Now that trophies are out, there are even more reasons to go back and play it – but there are FEWER people out there playing it now. And I'll be honest, I never went back and downloaded the new levels, so I don't know what I'm missing out on there.
Still a must have.
The Snow stage is still the most memorable thing ever!
Really awesome levels in this game
Wow! it took that long! Amazing. I played this game HARD until Uncharted can out. Thats about 4 months straight. I bought a couple of expansions but I eventually stopped playing it for a lil' while.
When I got back on, I was so rusty that I was getting pwned by ppl ranked under me.
I recommend this game to anybody!!! Its a lotta fun and the gameplay is surprising deep. I think there's about 80-100 ways to kill somebody on this game. INSANE.
And the Warhawk community is pretty loyal. I got friends who still play it everyday.
