During a recent status update, Rockstar insisted that L.A. Noire , often veiled in mystery and doubt, is indeed in full swing and in fact, everything is going along swimmingly.
They also said to expect one hell of a game and to prove their efforts, they're clearly looking to put the storyline in the limelight; the casting call for the game is loaded with encouraging requirements. They need many roles filled and Rockstar needs "strong actors" who can handle "lots of dialogue" for almost all of them. Not surprisingly, they need both good guys and bad and they're looking for someone who maybe resembles the likes of Gary Cooper or Gregory Peck to handle the role of the protagonist. The main character's name is Cole Phelps and the co-star is jazz singer Elsa Lichtmann; the latter only needs to perform for 10 days but they'll need the new Cole for three months (November through January). All this means Hollywood should be paying attention to L.A. Noire and we probably won't be shortchanged when it comes to voiceovers. Well, after the supreme voice acting we heard in Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , we really can't expect anything less from big-budget productions these days.
It'll be very interesting to see who they get to fill these roles, and hopefully, the studio will make the announcement when they've hired who they need. Can't wait to find out!

This news makes me happy. LA Noire, at least in concept, is a very promising game. Between this and Red Dead Redemption, I have to give Rockstar for charting new narrative territory (and hopefully new gameplay, too.)
as cool as this is to know, with this generation of games and consoles it is like 3 years for a game. like damn i just threw out a stack of old gameinformers from 2007 and all the games in them were for this year: infamous, ghostbusters, borderlands, batman, brutal legends… plenty more were covered that either just came out or still have not come out.
im starting to not care about these games hearing about them so far in advance. dont get me wrong i always want to know what the future holds for games and what i have to look forward to but sometimes it is just to long. look at final fantasy, how many years have we been talkin about this damn game.
im not an idiot and i know why it takes so long, just makes me not care any more. its nice to hear news and get updates on games but i just dont think i will give a crap til the game is out any more.
so lets see its 2009 we will get this game like what 2012…
Haha Uncharted 2 is to blame!
exactly what i was thinking
Rockstar games have had good voice work since before Uncharted was even thought of. But I'd like to think that the U2's great acting will have an effect any major game release.
Yea Shadow, I'm a fan of Rockstar and I know that. Apart from all the other GTAs having great voice acting, GTAIV had spectacular facial expressions. But am saying, Rockstar could've been motivated further after seeing what Uncharted 2 offered.

When speaking to one of the lads in Game the other day. He said for decent AAA games to come out it takes like 3-4 years to make a decent game. So yeah it could be 2012.
He said the devs know it is easier for them to make a game on the 360 but its harder for the PS3. Plus the cost of the Sony Dev kit is much higher than the 360.
How true this is I do not know.
I do know for decent games to come out it takes ages. Anyhow plenty enough to keep us going between now and at least mid 2010 anyway 🙂
What kind of gaming snob talks about "decent" triple A games? I mean, if the game is AAA then it's far better than decent right?
uncharted 2 was in development for roughly 18 months, and thats the best game ive played since half life.
i can think of many games that were in development for a long time and ended up sucking like prototype, HAZE, resident evil 5, killzone 2.
compare to games that were in development for less than half the time like, all R&C games, uncharted 2, all resistance games, inFAMOUS, batman AA.
just because its in development for a long time does not mean its going to be a AAA game, in fact the opposite has been proven to me.
another prime example GTAIV took ages to release and its the biggest disappointment of this generation.

Well, last time I checked, the PS3 dev kit was around $10,000.00. Thats after the dev kit price drop from 20 grand. Dunno about the 360 dev kit though.

I'm really looking forward to this – seems very different. Here's hoping they do a good job with it.
Wow thats a bit close for comfort, in my upcoming book set in the 20's instead of the 40's the characters are "Phillips" and "Ilsa" lol
Anywho can't wait for this project to see release.

Is the author listed as WorldEndsWithMe?
no that is my gamer persona 🙂
This is amazing news. Maybe LA Noire will actually be available prior to the apocalypse in 2012, cause I was starting to get worried.
I could do this! Talk really fast like the old 1940s news reels. "In today news……Aw, Raspberries!"
"Strong actors"……like Arnold Schwarzenegger, Sylvester Stallone and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, right?
I'd say Vin Diesel too, but he's kind of let himself go a bit.
he "vin"dicated himself in the newest fast and furious film!
that was dumb!

Vin-dication!
Don't forget Mark Wahlberg.

so hurry the %$#^up and release the dam game before i come down and pay you a visit.
since the development studio is like 10 minutes away from my work.
Gregory Peck? he was in TO Kill A Mockingbird, a veeery good film adaptation, and he was sick.
Someone said KZ2 sucked…um yea thats gonna be a big negative…. I loved KZ2 so please don't spew opinions as fact it is annoying
