This is one of those times when we're not entirely certain the news is as good as it sounds. But on the surface, it definitely appears to be a positive announcement, especially for role-playing fans.
It took a while – five years after it was first announced, in fact – but Bioware's latest title, Dragon Age: Origins , has officially gone gold and is scheduled to launch on November 3. Up until now, we figured it would only arrive for the Xbox 360 and PC as it was previously revealed that the PS3 version wouldn't drop until later; all we knew is that it might be on store shelves later in the year. But Bioware co-founder and EA boss Ray Muzyka has announced that PS3 owners should be happy, because all versions will now be coming out on the same day. Oddly enough, the PS3 version still isn't solidified for Europe, as they say it'll release "a bit later in November." Considered to be the "spiritual successor" to Baldurs Gate , this is the RPG that many have been waiting for, but as Bioware doesn't have much of a history with PlayStation hardware, we're a touch concerned they're rushing this one out the door. When we first heard of the delay, we were actually content that the team was addressing any problems but now…well, maybe they just fixed everything early.
Either way, here's hoping the PS3 version isn't inferior to the 360 and PC versions; the latter two were probably a whole lot easier to make for Bioware, who has been most familiar with PC-style technology in the past. We just want the same experience as everyone else gets…guess we'll find out soon enough.

I'm still debating on picking this up. On one hand, the game looks amazing and as a huge fan of Drakan: The Ancients' Gates on the PS2, I feel that this game has a lot of similarities. On the other hand, though, I've never been one to keep interest in a game for more than 30 hours and being that this is supposed to take anywhere from 65-120 hours to go through, it's a tough sell for me. I guess I'll just have to keep the debates running within my mind.
Yeah, the only thing that affects me at the moment is the change in my pocket, it does seem interesting tho, but too much coming out in November.
this is on my get me for Xmass list and AC2
MW2 is a pass for me dont like muti that much
Only picking this up if mass effect comes to ps3. So no.
Don't let stubbornness deny you what will undoubtedly be a great game. I want Mass Effect on PS3 too, but I'll take any BioWare game I can get. They always deliver.
You know that buy not buying this you'd sort of be encouraging Bioware to not bother with PS3 versions of their games at all, right?
absolutley a dumb comment! this is what would fuel devs to not deliver to the PS3. i know alot of devs are seeing the fan base and the money the PS3 can bring but if u say becus they dont have mass effect for us your not buying this why would they wanna support that!
i think this is a step they took to make sure they could bring great franchises to the ps3! i think from now on we'll see alot of bioware support for the ps3 if dragon age origins does well!
I'll be getting this for sure. I especially liked bioware's knights of the old republic and neverwinter nights.
This game doesn't fit consoles.. PC its the way to go with this one.
part of it is PC games are dieing I want Bioware to make more PS3 games this is there test to see if its worth it
actually it does fit the console… if you go to the playstation blog and read the interview they had with bioware and some devs for this gamer they say there is a distinct dif. about the game from pc to console to make it feel right on the console. they said on the pc its almost a strategic attack on the game, while the console versions have more of an action feel making it perfect for a controller!
this just further examplifies how hard bioware has worked on this game to bring it to the ps3 and make it feel right on consoles! i know alot of people prefer rpgs and fps on the pc but devs are figuring out "alternatives" i gues u could call it to make it feel right and comfortable on consoles. im not doubting the pc but consoles are where its at right now! especially the PS3.
i have a friend who owns a computer store (cyber center) locally and all he ever did was talk ab out pc games and how he likes his mouse and keyboard… yeah yeah! anyways recently he came tome and said so the pc is running outta games, can you help me find a ps3. i told him about the PS3 slim and the price drop and he said sold! anyways hes even going as far as getting MW2 on his new ps3! he enjoys it alot and right now looks to be prefering his console even for fps like MW2m and rpg's like dragon age! just to mention hes not just a goober who just owns both, hes been a gamer b4 i was even born, so…
This game looks fantastic. The new videos up on PSN this week are certainly game sellers. It looks like D&D mixed with FF type cut scenes. I will be buying this.
One question though… Why does that man have boobs?
I can't believe people are hesitant about this title. It's from BioWare, and they just don't make bad games. I have little doubt it will be a stellar title. I am quite pleased to see it get a true simultaneous release. This and the GoW collection are the only other games I'm picking up this year.
just pre-orderd the collectors edition for $55
Where from? Spill it man, so I dont have to pay GS 79 for mine.
from the ea store, I got an email from ea giving me 25% off anything in the store so I used it on dragon age
think they give things like this out if you sign up for their email

Thanks, will check it out.
Looks pretty interesting – I really like the story and characters, and it certainly looks nice. Not sure about the combat though. Is is a third person action/adventure type game, or do you have little circles around your foes like some sort of RPG? It's kind of confusing watching the various videos for it. I'll have to wait until it comes out and get a better look at it before I decide if I'll get it or not.
Holding off on my next RPG purchase until I get some user feedback from the players of this game.
Its between this one and Demon Souls..
I bought Demon's Souls and don't plan on buying this one. Demon's Souls takes a long time to beat so I'm going to be very busy. Plus Ratchet is coming next week.
For some reason I'm very skeptical that this will turn out to be a great game, probably a good game but I'm surprised it went gold already. I'd still pick a jrpg over it any day though.
i dont know, in the interview on the playstation blog bioware was very forth about how good it ran on the Ps3 and how it was not at all inferior to any console version.
i have faith that it will be just fine and a blast to play, i can not wait!
By buying this and showing support for PS3 versions of Bioware games, we'll hopefully see more from Bioware on our beloved beasts.
And it'll be a good incentive for Bioware to consider Mass Effect on PS3.
If you like RPGs, Bioware and your PS3, I strongly recommend getting this game and showing your support.
Unfortunately, I'm already having doubts about me spending 170 bucks on MW2 Prestige Edition, but I just couldn't say no to rare(-ish) collectors items for a popular series. My EB manager has tried the night vision goggles, and he says they're the real deal.
Plus, as much as I dislike Activision atm, specially Greenburg or Kotick or whoever the idiot is who heads it, I enjoyed Modern Warfare. More than Halo, but not quite as much as Killzone, that continues to wow me.
Still, back to my point, if I have the money and the time by December to get Dragon Age, I definitely will. I strongly suggest you support it as well to give Bioware a reason to bring Mass Effect to PS3 as well.
Still another one my hubby debates on but christmas is coming.
Stop being so good to him! 😉
I'm just kidding. Rock on, woman of the night. Mwuaahahahaha!
