John-ShepardWe all know what Hideo Kojima is capable of, but it's also interesting to see how he gauges other products from other studios.
So maybe you're wondering: "what would the master say is the cream of the crop for this holiday season? What should I keep an eye out for?" Well, during a recent Famitsu interview (as found by ConnectedConsoles ), Kojima did mention three titles releasing in the fourth quarter of 2009 that he deems "incredible." One of them we're already pleasantly familiar with and the other two probably won't come as a big shock:
"…I think there are three games that stand out above the rest of the pack in the remainder of this year. One is Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, one is Uncharted 2, and the third is Assassin's Creed II. Those three are just incredible."
We're right there with ya on Uncharted 2 , which is easily one of the most impressive games we've ever seen. The other two are also high on our priority list; Modern Warfare 2 is set to explode due to the immense following gained by the original title and that Assassin's Creed sequel looks awesome in every last sense of the word. We're thinking Kojima has maybe seen both games in action – more than the footage we've seen – that makes him say this, but it's hard to tell. Either way, it's a strong endorsement of those games; if Kojima likes 'em, we get the feeling we'll like 'em, too.
Damn. If Kojima says they're awesome, now I have to get all 3.

Well I already have one of those three and I'll probably end up getting ACII soon after; And that's about it.
i already have one of those 3 games too and im going to get MW2 probably not AC2 because im more into shooters

He's definitely right about Uncharted 2. I'm interested in ACII, but I'll wait for the review scores as well as gamer comments. No offense to the talent behind COD, I'll have to pass. I don't play FPS's.

I have enough on my hands with Killzone 2; won't get any more CoD's. Unchartered 2 is my only purchase for this year, next year will be GoWIII and GT5 🙂

Well I'll be damned! If kojima thinks its good I guess I'll have to follow suit ^_^ he's been a great judge of gaming character so far and he's right on the ball with us gamers ^_^
I was with him until Assassin's Creed. 2 of 3 ain't bad.
I guess that means that one of my favorite game creators and I see eye-to-eye 67% of the time.

I misread the title. I thought HE's coming out with 3 incredible games…
That would create some sort of black hole that we would all be sucked into and then slaughtered by baby ferrets.

I guess there's no great games coming out in december beside GOW collection.
GoW collection would be out Nov. 10.

the saboteur could be good, if pandemic actually can be bothered to iorn out the bugs.
but than considering their track record i wont hold my breath.
O and GOW collections out on november 17 not november 10.
for once im glad about a delay, gives me more time to get 100% in R&C ACIT

Uncharted 2 puts most games to shame. Even Square, once the a leader in innovative 3d graphics is having a tough time keeping up. Watching the FFXIII TGS trailer, I'm not as impressed with the visuals as I once was. Naughty Dog has spoiled me. So far, Killzone 2 and Metal Gear Solid 4 seem to stand in line with Uncharted 2 when it comes to cutting edge visuals. Can't think of much else that does.
So I'm with Kojima in regards to U2. AC2 I haven't seen enough, as MW2. It looks the same as the 1st. That is one over hyped game.

seriously, its just going to be a MW replay with a coat of varnish.
replace that with R&C ACIT sadly there the only 3 games im looking forward to for the rest of the year.
normally in november theres like 20, this year has been lackluster indeed.
owell hopefully 2010 can change on that with mafia 2.
already got u2 n preordered ac2………dont think i'll buy modern warfare 2……..activision's (microvision) recent comments made me take this decision……
Dudes, Kojima is like the video game gentleman , in the purest sense. The guy speaks and everybody in the world stops to hear what hes gonna say next. Im so glad we got someone like him makin games. It keeps me hoping that other devs will finally wise up and start putting some effort into their games again.
I got Uncharted 2 and I'll be getting MW2 but am skipping AC2, am not really a fan of Ubisoft, with their regular square edged characters like we were still in the PS2 era, only if you've noticed.
Too true. I can't think of anything Unisoft has made that has interested me even with hype. or a game that's been fun enough to finish out of the ones I have played. I hated AC, AC2 does look better, but I'm still a bit skeptical. I'll rent it.

ubisoft is one of my favorite publishers, i cant wait till they release some new info on i am alive.
but since its not coming out till 2011 it will be a while till we get any of that 🙁
ACII doesnt belong on that list, imo. THe first was overly repetitive and i dont see them making II much better. My top 3 for the end of '09 is Uncharted 2, MW2, and Ratchet and Clank.
Yeah, im a ratchet and clank fanboy, but i dont care. The games are fun. Insomniac doesnt try to change the world with each R&C game, they just pack as much fun as possible onto a blu ray and dammit, it works!
I lot of people who share your opinion of the 1st AC and have previewed the sequel say they've addressed nearly every shortcoming of the 1st (glitches, repetitive missions, bad audio etc).
I didn't like Assasin's Creed either, but I could definitely see the potential in the IP. I'll probaby rent this if they can deliver.
Well, I'll be getting Uncharted 2, the God of War collection, and perhaps the Saboteur. I tend to buy stuff I like rather than what someone else likes. Weird, I know.
For all those wondering whether there will be an Uncharted 3, here is a quote from a Naughty Dog….
"We've been so busy on Uncharted 2 that we've done a very poor job of planning for the future right now," Wells jokes. "Certainly, there will be another Uncharted. We have lots of ideas of new adventures for Drake."
