Uncharted 2: Among Thieves contains about 90 minutes of cut-scenes and while we likely wouldn't get tired of those amazingly produced and acted mini-cinemas, that seemed just about right.
But Ubisoft wants to do them one better in the movie department, as according to European website TopGamer , the latest report from the ratings board shows that Assassin's Creed II will actually have three hours worth of cut-scenes. That's double the amount of movie time in Naughty Dog's masterpiece; it actually sounds more like MGS4. We also assume ACII will take a bit longer to complete than Uncharted 2 , simply because it's one of those titles that will require patience and attention to detail, and if you choose to complete all optional missions, it could take quite some time. Besides, we know the game is very story-driven (which is one of the reasons why we're so excited) and typically, with a good story often comes plenty of excellent non-interactive scenes. Personally, I honestly don't remember how much Ubisoft put into the original AC but I'd be very surprised if it came anywhere near an hour or an hour and a half. So this sounds like a definite upgrade in terms of production and presentation quality.
Assassin's Creed II is set to launch next month and unfortunately has to battle Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 . The good news is that these two titles are entirely different, so you're probably gonna want both, anyway.
i just hope its not as repetitive as the first…damn it got boring

i was just about to say something like that!
everything aside from the story and the missions in the first game were great! looked, and played well. the problem i had was it was so repetitive, i felt like i was playing each mission over again!
this game has really got my attention though, and i love cut scenes. im torn on it and dragon age: origins though, ill get em both no doubt but which one first im not sure, i havnt played a good rpg since fallout 3 if you will, but more precise The elder scrolls 4: oblivion, so u can see my yearning for a good rpg. and i know demons souls is out but im waiting for my roomate to finish it! anyways back on topic i am excited bout this game!
you behave like a child 🙂
Seriously though. I agree

I agree, it got so repetitive that i cudn't even finish the damn game
i also didnt finish the game. found it repetitive and boring. I tried going back to play it never got anything done. I didnt even remember where to go. I tried going to the highest point in the city, still no idea so i gave up.
Same here and after playing U2 it will be even longer before I do. Hell, I'm going back to Drake's Fortune after I beat crushing (if I beat it that is).
Isn't this on Xbox? forget it
…what?
lol what?
it's on the PS3 as well…
i'm kinda torn between getting this and uncharted 2… i mean, i am getting both eventually but, i am not sure which one i will get next month, and which one i'll put on my christmas list… i think i have a lot to think about in the next few weeks…
please don't encourage me to get uncharted 2… i know that 95% of the replies will tell me to get that one but come on, i really really loved the first AC and this one looks 10x better than the first… it's a bit of a toss up for me as to which one to get first… i know i'll love both games… these are the two i have been looking forward to all year… nothing else matters this holiday season to me :D…
multiplat games suffer
Bones, you can't go wrong with Uncharted 2.
He's got a good point. How the hell are they fitting a huge game AND three hours of cut-scenes onto a dvd?
@bones
Never played AC, but assuming its only single player game, always get multiplayers first. You'll have lesser bang for your buck when there are less people to play with if you buy it 6 months or even 1 year later. That's why i'm delaying my Ratchet and Clank for next year, until all the MP games i want have been purchased.
Makes sense doesn't it?
I think the game is suppose to be 20+ hours. I loved the first one and I can't wait to explore Italy. I preordered the master edition but I really wanted the black edition. Im getting bloodlines too.
More is not necessarily better. The brilliant thing about Uncharted 2's cutscenes is that they were *short*! Sure there were a lot of them, but they served mostly to transition from one scene to the next and you were never taken out of the game for too long. A lot of games make the mistake where you are basically watching a movie for a while and then you have some gameplay that has nothing to do with what you just watched…it ruins the immersion.
The first AC was on both machines too.
Ben how many hours of cut scenes were there in MGS4 ?
I hope this is much better than the 1st one I got halfway through and got bored.
i think i only got to 1/4 the game and gave up on it. Funny thing is that it was an impulse buy but i picked up the collectors edition, waste of money.
I really hope its easier to get to other places in this one. I get lost to damn easy in the 1st. I found the map didnt help that much, it just told you which general direction your going. You miss the right path and you have to go 10 mins back to find the right way. At least that was my experience.
the repitition bored me to submission in ac1and then there was the frame rate issue i hope they fix that this time around but the story was excellent
i remember running through that blue space for ages before it loaded the world. i believe that they fixed it though. But it was still boring ass hell to me.
if the game has an amazing story like uncharted 2, the i really dont care about cutscenes and length. Hell i got drawn in the metal gear solid 4 and watched every damn cutscene without complaints. As long as it doesnt detract from the games' story or pacing, its all good.
I'm getting AC2 over modern warfare 2. I've had enough of fps games.
It's a sequel to a game that bored the living hell out of just about everybody who played it. I guess I don't understand why we're always seeing articles about it?
cus this one actually looks good, and looks to have a better overall story as far as the gameplay goes.
i mean the first one was repetitive, where this one includes much more depth in the story and gameplay, and ways to go about "assasinating"!
im looking forward to it actually more than i was for AC which i was psyched for then extremely let down. i think probably the most let down ive ever been, and frustrated!
i will say i would have liked to see altair make a better name for himself, he was a bad A** assasin! but now we got how you spell it Ezio?

Please don't try to treat your opinion as fact. Not "everyone" found it boring. I loved it and so did everyone I know.
We're able to look past the repetitiveness if the rest of the game is amazing, which it was, IMO.
Yeah, it was good but I only played through it once.
this is my most anticipated title for this year, cant wait.
picking up the black edition on release day, though i wished they would make this more stealthy.
id like to see a more open world link and allow the user to go in, kill the target and leave.
instead of going in and letting the whole world know your there.
your a assassin not a hitman, the whole idea is to try and conceal your identity.
thats going to be hard if the whole country is hunting you.
another game i would love to see a sequel off.
tenchu Z.
that was my favorite game on playstation, what i would do to see a HD remake.
that was the last proper stealth game, a dying breed sadly.
MGS4 ditched it.
splinter cell conviction has ditched it.
who or what do i have to kill to get a proper stealth game like the old tenchu or MGS or splinter cell or james bond games?
well, hopefully the cut scenes will be higher def on the ps3 version
Folks that complained about MGS4 said it was like watching a movie that you could play every so often. That game came in around 90 minutes of cut scenes. I would assume that it was mostly XBOX fans that would make that claim, just trying to insult a masterpiece. Wonder if they will be bitching about AC2 and its 2 hours of cut scenes seeing as how it is going to be on their console. Probably will hail it as a master stroke. Ah, but it is multi plat, so perhaps they will save such high praise for Alan Wake.
who cares about the total ammount of cut scenes?
the reason why most people complained about MGS4s cut scenes was because they last for bloody half a hour!
i want to PLAY my game not watch it.
i could not care less if the game had 1000 hours of cut scenes, as long as its not 20 minutes + constant, it gets extremely boring.
ha i just got and beat the first one. i beat it in four days. I worked or went to school every one of those days, i did all the side quests except flags, and had a full day in there that i did not touch the game (i went to school in the morning then worked right after until 10pm).
