John-ShepardSo the NPD numbers are in for September and thanks to that long-awaited price cut for the PlayStation 3 and the introduction of the newer, slimmer model, Sony's machine led the pack.
And with the likes of Uncharted 2: Among Thieves and the PSP Go freshly releasing in October, Sony wants to drive the point home that there has never been a better time to be a member of "PlayStation Nation." We saw it in a press release e-mail and Jack Tretton repeated that release for everyone at the PlayStation Blog , and he makes a strong case for the brand he handles. The PS3 sold nearly a half-million units last month, he further mentions the impending 250GB PS3 Slim (set to release on November 3), and in addition to the aforementioned Naughty Dog gem, he reminds us that more is on the way in the forms of Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time , God of War III , MAG , ModNation Racers and – we'll add another one – Gran Turismo 5 . The PSP go allowed "top retail partners" to experience a 300% lift in overall PSP hardware sales, and the PlayStation Network has been on fire lately; the month included the single largest number of downloads ever for a one-week period. And let's not forget about the God of War Collection , which is now slated to ship on November 17 and will bring with it a playable demo of GoWIII (the one that wowed the crowd at E3 this year).
Yes, it's tough to deny that Sony has the edge going into this holiday season and if you're not yet a PS3 or PSP owner, now is definitely the time to take the plunge.
How could ANYONE not own a ps3 at this stage!!! All the unbelievable games… we are so damn lucky and we dont even realise it half the time.
Damn, I'm just waiting till that 250 GB ps3 slim to come out. Only $50 more than the 120 GB. Now That's a deal!!! Once I buy it, screw everything else. =P

@TheCrazyMerc – Just so you know, you can spend that $50 at amazon and get a 320gb hard drive. Then you have both a PS3 with a 320gb hd and an external 120gb. It's a better deal…IMO

But i think this store is only Canadian so when surfing keep in mind that is canadian prices. But this is just to help out those people who arn't too tech savy ( like me) and have a hard time finding stuff like this.

Jack Tretton is a classy guy and his entry in the PlayStation Blog was great. He appreciates his new customers and they will be getting some great games to play on their new PS3s.

I have a friend who is a 360 fanatic, and after leting him play the MAG beta he informed me that he is going to sell his 360 to buy a ps3, I feel like sony has acomplished something amazing if they can turn fanatics to the light

first off the games have both already been previously released and they both have proved there worth!
Second yes they have been revamped as you will, and are going to be even better than in original form thanks to hd, but agian why should they (GOW 1,2) be competing with MW2?
if it did get delayed, which i dont know, o-well, and if its only by a week an even bigger o-well! gives me a chance to play MW2 a lil' before setting it aside to play thorugh GOW 1, and 2 again, then trying out that fantistic looking demo for GOW 3!
I've been a part of the PlayStation Nation since 1998. My brother and I grew up on Nintendo in the '90s but when I saw Sony's little grey beast, I switched over immediately. My brother stuck with the Big N until I eventually converted him. I enjoyed Nintendo's GameCube (even though I only bought it for Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes and Animal Crossing) but I have a strong dislike for their little white gimmick known as the Wii. ANYWAY, I've always stuck with Sony and their PlayStation. Sure I had to go through two PS Ones, three PS2s and two PS3s but I have never regretted it once. When the PS3 was released, I could've easily went with the Micro$oft shitbox. The PS3 had inferior games and an inferior network. I stuck with it, though. I knew that in the end, they'd prevail (and the fail rate of the 360 made decisions easy, too). And look at that. A couple years later and Sony is wearing the crown once again as they rightfully should. Not only do we get 95% of the kick-ass third-party games but we also get WAY better exclusives such as the Uncharted franchise and Metal Gear Solid 4 (and a few hundred more, may I add). The PlayStation Store is better than ever and my impulse buying is at an all-time high (the last part isn't necessarily a good thing but oh well). Yeah, after 11 years, I'm still part of the PlayStation Nation and I'll be here until the day I die… or until I loose my thumbs in a freak blender accident while making a smoothie. Long live PlayStation!!! =)

watching the interviews in the bonus features of uncharted 2 and found out they used assembly programming.
now thats impressive, no one uses that any more.
because its IMPOSSIBLE! to debug.
writing some of the programs i do, being only 20 or so lines long is impossible to debug using assembly, these guys are doing whole games.

i knew ND were dedicated in making all there games perfect but wow, just wow thats completley going to the extreme.
goes to show how skillful there programmers are.
1 mistake, 1 syntax error would take months to fix.
only if more developers were that committed to there games, im 100% sure NO developer would do that today.

As an x86 assembly language programmer, I must say that its not as difficult as you make it out to be. Its hardly impossible to debug, and doesn't take months. It simply takes knowledge, as would any other language. People don't use any more because compilers have gotten better at optimizing code, modern processors are designed to handle compiler generated code best, and obviously assembly language is not as portable as C/C++. I'm sure the developers simply used assembly language in key areas where it was advantageous. Doing so is hardly novel and definitely doesn't make them super-geniuses. That said, I do like the fact that they cared enough to optimize their code. More and more programmers, especially those moving to managed code (.NET), really don't care so much to optimize to that level.

havent used assebmbly before, i really want to but TAFE no longer teaches it, no one does.
hell TAFE dont teach C or C++ any more, if you enroll for a programming class they put you in C# or java.

Not sure if it is or not but since PS3 games are region-free, you can just order it from this side of the pond if it doesn't come over there.

it was funny my parents what a blueray player and I was like ok but I'll get u a PS3 and my parents are like SOLD since they really want to play demons souls and LBP.
