Namco Bandai Considering A Tales Of Vesperia “Part 2”

North American RPG fans are still wondering if the PS3 version of Tales of Vesperia will ever break free from Japanese borders, and in the meantime, Namco Bandai is considering a sequel.

First of all, did you realize they made a movie to go along with the game? It's in "full theatrical release" over in the Land of the Rising Sun; it's entitled "Tales of Vesperia: The First Strike" and should be quite popular. Famitsu was at the unveiling of this new film where the director and producer of the movie were on hand, as well as the Namco Bandai general manager, and the group fielded questions from the press. One of those questions, not surprisingly, was whether or not Namco was planning a sequel to the game. And according to Andriasang , that idea has been tossed around the studio and it seems clear that there's interest "within the company" to make a Part 2. In the end, they're currently "thinking about it," so that's good news for the role-playing aficionados who greatly enjoyed the original title (and are probably lining up to check out the movie). Of course, we'd just like a US release date for the PS3 version of Vesperia , which should eventually arrive but currently holds the discouraging and very vague "TBA" label. It's a little frustrating, too, as we know the PS3 version has a whole horde of extra goodies that weren't included in the 360 version. Remember Tales of Symphonia …?

So anyway, we could always use another promising RPG on the PS3 and if they do decide to work on a sequel, wouldn't Namco Bandai want as much exposure as possible? Just release it over here already!

It's a sad time when jrpgs are not even considered to be released in the US

Look at the White Knight Chronicles situation and just how few jrpgs there are…

These are sad times

Release date? I would be happy if they would just announce that a US release of the PS3 version is even in the works. So far they have said *nothing* about it…everything is speculation.

Given that the 360 version didn't sell very well there is a very real chance that they decided to just not bother. Of course, the 360 and PS3 audiences are not the same, but it remains to be seen whether Namco Bandai realizes that…

Its the same with White Knight Cronicles, no US release date and theres already another in the works, jeeze man this whole RPG thing is getting really rediculous. JPN is keeping all the good games to themselves and letting us suffer with friggin FPS'.

Does this play like Eternal Sonata? Are the battle systems similar?

No. The similarities with the battle systems between Eternal Sonata and the Tales series end with touching an enemy to fight.

In Eternal Sonata, you had an interesting mix of real time and turn based combat. The Tales series, however, just has every character fighting at the same time.

i'm getting sick of waiting for a decent rpg on PS3. Demon's soul is good, but it doesn' fulfill my need of a rpg.
Good thing Rogue Galaxy,Persona3,4,Psp remake,Xenogears, keep me busy until White Knight Chronicles or FFXIII comes out……
