There's no doubt that Metal Gear Solid: Rising will go in a different direction than previous entries in the series; many are expecting something more action-oriented, like Devil May Cry . After all, with the uber-agile Raiden as the main character, it almost seems inevitable.
Even Hideo Kojima himself is interested to see how the "younger team" will do, and how the final product will turn out. However, don't misinterpret "interested" as "concerned" because he seems very confident in the assembled Rising group, as evidenced by his recent video interview over at the European PlayStation Blog . As much as the fans adore what Kojima has done in the past, he's not about to dictate and command from an unreachable executive position; he's more than open to new ideas:
"How I created the Metal Gear Solid series is what I created for the past 20 years or so. That's the world I created so I want people to expect more of a bigger scope or a bigger world of Metal Gear Solid. If I pass on to my young staff, I think there will only be a new kind of Metal Gear with their new thinking and new involvement. I kept my world of Metal Gear Solid in the titles that I have presented before. It means I have kind of stepped back as a producer and I'm kind of looking forward actually to what my younger staff will create, a new kind of world or color to the MGS franchise."
Yes, we all have to progress or grow stagnant in this industry, even though plenty of die-hard MGS fans can be heard screaming, "they still can innovate if they keep the style the same!" Well, yes, but as Kojima said, they're taking things in a new direction and in so doing, they just might appeal to a whole new demographic of gamers; gamers who were never before interested in the hardcore stealth/action presentation. We're certainly intrigued by Rising ; that's for damn sure.

This man is genius! The game will spin-off and not a true sequel. So I'm not worried, a true sequel to MGS4 is on the way, It's just going to be a while.
what it sounds like he is saying to me is that he is busy with the real sequel and hes got some guys he thinks will make a good game based on the metal gear world 😉
Yep. That's what I got out of that too.
More specifically, though, this is just further evidence that his superiors twisted his arm to put a Metal Gear game on the 360, and this was the best they could do. Kojima would assign a "young" team to do the game, and he would "step back as a producer."
The Rising staff will be gods if the quality of 9GB MGS Rising can be as good as 50GB MGS4.
If I'm not mistaken they said they're using a more powerful engine on Rising.
Even so, is it going to be at 50GB in total?
i read somewhere that most of that 50gb was audio because hideo wanted extreme quality audio
there are new formats out that take up less space with great quality, so they might not be able to pull off quite as good as mgs4, but it wont be lacking by much.
Hah.
Will be a good and special experience for the newcomers. Doing one of Kojima's jobs must feel rewarding 😉
As long as enemies die realistically in this game as opposed to games like ninja gaiden I believe it has potential. But I will be pissed if to kill a standard soldier you have to pull out a 12 hit combo. It would be best if they made it like in MGS2 where raidens sword kills instantly, except for bosses, and gekkos
Just give me Peace Walker.
Never liked Raiden.
same here, i want the snakes and the big boss, and together with that deep voice with david. nothing replaces that. never really interested in raiden, tag along is ok, but once became the focus, the game is gone.
im still reserved on this, just cant imagine how playing through with raiden will be like.
they cant make a all out hack and slash action game, but they cant go down the stealth path either.
very strange choice if you ask me, i would of stayed away from it.
just sounds like a financial burden to me.
Metal GeaRPG next?
just give me ZoE3 kojima =O pweeaasseee go ahead & let other ppl work on mgs for awhile
Nooo not a rpg please
i cant play those kind of games
i can but i dont like it please !!
what if it was like dragonball z tenkaichi 2?!
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Rising will follow Raidens event into MGS4 or during MGS4, thats what i think. And i dont need to tell the story of raidens end in MGS4 u all know.
i hope they show how raiden becomes a cyborg. that way they could start him off normal and include the great stealth were used to then when he becomes bad ass we can see that devil may cry style game play.
story wise it has to be how he rescued sunny and how he got big bosses body then maybe the stuff in mgs4.
yes. if being raiden during some of that stuff was an option i'd definately get this game.
I have a feelnig this game will come across as not very "Metal Gear-y". An action game based on Raiden just sounds kinda lame, but I guess I should wait before judging, eh? I'm definitley interested to see how it turns out, that's for sure.
I'm more intrigued by Castlevania right now.
Sounds to me like Kojima isn't really involved in this game at all. It seems like he's only there to make sure this younger team doesn't screw up his MGS timeline.
If they do, well….expect to see some empty sit in Kojima Production office.

Ok……people this game will rule for one I'm a hardcore mgs fan I even have the acid series on the psp but saying this game will be bad just because raiden is the main character is just plain ridicolous. Raiden did an amazing job in mgs4 for the love of god he saved snake wen liquid was going to crush snake with outer haven.. he kicked ass with no hands jus his feet and a weapon that for some reason could retact lighting. I believe many hardcore fans notice the gap in the gap wen raiden explains at happnend wen rescuing sunny…..man imagine the epic boss battles that's gonna be amazing……oooo jus to say did anyone remember in mgs3 wen hideo made a parody charcter similar to raiden name raikov n he was gay and volgin molested him man that was wrong
Oookkkkk metal is snake 😉
