We have the greatest respect for Quantic Dream's David Cage, who is in charge of the Heavy Rain project, which we consider to be one of the most promising PlayStation 3 exclusives yet.
And in a recent Eurogamer interview , Cage talks a bit about the inspiration behind the game's storyline (you've probably heard that it's based on Cage's personal experience of almost losing his son), the much-debated striptease scene, and the annoying belief that the entire game is only about QTEs (Quick Time Events). Regarding the nudity, Cage agrees that if you're making the game for kids, you "shouldn't do that," but if you're making a game for adults, than there's "nothing you can't do" and he's not about to "censor himself" for no reason. As for the QTE question, Cage says the balance between QTEs and the rest of the gameplay is about the same as it was in Fahrenheit (which you probably know as Indigo Prophecy ). The point is that you can control your character "at all times" and QTEs only comprise a small portion of the events on screen. Lastly, Cage praised Sony for really "paying attention to the quality of a game" and "that's the only thing that matters to them, and to us, too."
In the end, he says Quantic "made the game they wanted to make," and that's all we can ask for. It has been noted that PS3 exclusives tend to be of a higher level than most all multiplatform releases, so it seems clear that Sony demands something special from those who wish to produce an exclusive title. Well, Heavy Rain absolutely qualifies as "special" in our minds.

Wow Ben you write/post fast. Another one goes down into the infinite database haa haa 😉
I fear this game will be critically acclaimed, but will fail to sell well.
That's pretty much guarantee by now;the same thing will most probably happen to Uncharted 2.But who cares anyway I know I'll be getting both.
@HeXeN
Wat u said about the low sales will most likely be true, so how u got thumbs down for saying something true is beyond me.
true, hezzron, it isn't being understood well.
Can't Wait…. as long as I have the money.
A must buy game since day one. We need to support developers that take a risk. Besides the game looks spectacular. nudity, good story, interesting gameplay. What more can you ask for???
i guess it'll be sold out, will slap on critique's face by its graphics, gameplay & most of all its differences in gameplay, nudity, button pressing strategy & motion controls (if supports in game)…
I,wish this company, and their game all the best.,although i wont personally buy it…
Can't wait for this game, at first I was like Nah I'll skip it but the more and more I read about it and watch trailers for it the more I want it to add to my ever growing PS3 collection.
Will get!
Definite buy and I'm looking forward to seeing how game sites label this thing in their Genres. I actually had a crazy dream that I was in the game after watching the trailers. Was wild. Seriously. But yeah I worry about these super top quality games not getting the sales they deserve after all that work to bring us something unique.
Crazy sh*t, WorldsEnd 🙂 Was it quantifiable?

"the annoying belief that the entire game is only about QTEs (Quick Time Events)"
If they would show more of the game than just QTS. It wouldn't be such an annoying belief.
Still on the fence with this one…
I have seen many xbots push the QTE out of all proportion, guess they are trying to fill time as the PS3 gets all these juicy exclusives, while they get fed stale halo half measures.
Quality games isn't the only place that got you worrying about the tops hey?
This game is going to be great, It is sure to get a backlash from gamers that are just too young to appreciate the content, buying it because of the hype and graphics but unable to take in and digest the story and emotional connotations layered within it.
Can't wait, This game will be amazing! only on PS3!!
I'm hoping it doesn't get banned here in Australia.
I really want this to be good and fun, but I'm far too nervous to shell out 60 bux for it.
Just wait for the PsXexTrEmE review then 🙂
Q!
"i am home"
its really scary, the more and more interviews i read about this guy, the more and more he sounds like to think like me.
ok now im scared, really scared!
O and anyone who criticizes this for being nothing but a QTE fest should be strung up by his own entrails!
if done well, this will be GOTY 2010.
and nothing can stop that.
not mafia 2.
not bioshock 2.
not GOW3
not dantes inferno.
NOTHING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i beg to differ. GOW3 is so much more popular and so much 'easier' in a sense, heavy rain wont stand a chance. great game and im getting it, but doubt it'll beat some others, gow3 and gt5 namely.
doubt it.
only because im seeing a recurring trend in reviews lately.
there constantly bashing the game there reviewing for not being original, KZ2,infamous,uncharted 2 all suffered this.
all the previews i have read about GOW3 the writer has been complaining the same thing, gameplays exactly the same, nothing original.
where if heavy rain is not original and innovative, than bobs my uncle!
BUT GT5!
cheers!!!!
