I think we all know that Sony really needs to step up this holiday season and do some promoting, what with the recent PS3 price drop, new PS3 Slim, and very hot Uncharted 2: Among Thieves .
Well, they're starting off on the right foot because Sony isn't trying to hide their plans for marketing Naughty Dog's awesome sequel, as evidenced by the European information from Electronic Theatre . There's already a teaser trailer on TV over there but starting on the 12th, a full-length trailer in full high-definition will broadcast for one month, and it'll even be seen during the England World Cup qualifying matches (that's like the NFL playoffs for us). Added to this will be various cinema campaigns starting on October 23, plus ten-week sponsorship campaigns of both Sky One's Friday Night Movie and the Discovery Channel's "Adventure & Survival" shows. Then of course you've got the online and print advertising, which will include the likes of the Official PlayStation Magazine and some informational plugs and news articles at your favorite sites (like the PlayStation Blog). We've already seen a commercial for Uncharted 2 here; it features some dude who has a hot girlfriend and believes the game is a movie…which of course works out for both parties. It's pretty funny and worth watching… "yeah, we're gonna file this under 'not an issue.'" HA.
But anyway, the point is, gamers in all regions should start seeing the campaign blitz for Uncharted 2 , and that's exactly what Sony needed to do.
Related Game(s): Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
Sony's "It Only Does Everything" campaign is genius. Reminds me of Ye Olden Days of the PS and PS2.
I agree. It feels like Sony is actually back.
I think there "Dear Sony" guy is perfect too, he has a quality to him.
Where did sony go? I've been playing great and new games on my ps3 thanks to sony:D
They took a vacation from reality for awhile.
Finally Sony has realized that they have to market their exclusive masterpieces(unlike with Killzone 2), that's great. BTW Ben, you can't really compare World Cup Qualifiers to NFL playoffs :), just kiddin', both are awesome….
only problem with england's world cup quailifers is that this weekend's match is not going to be shown on tv, only the internet. suck.
i got alot of kz2 ads here
Great Uncharted commercial. I really like the way the new ad campaign is coming along. This holiday season is going to be great for Sony if they keep this up.
I'd like to see a good ad for Ratchet and Clank. Everyone loves that game but it never gets the press it deserves, imo.
I've heard next to nothing about A Crack in Time over the last few weeks, and that saddens me greatly.
aha here's another funny ad if u havent seen it already

But have you seen this one? Love the hair.

lol, I remember when we used to use the word "tight" a lot back in the day.
It's all because of Jack Tretton
That guy's so down to earth. He really makes the ps3 feel like it's for everone
That, and the fact that the ps3 is the real next-gen console here.
Agreed. And I firmly believe that the Xbot's are getting fed up, people are on there 5th and 6th xbox's and are saying enough. (Frankly I find it damn well ridiculous it would take that many repeated mistakes to learn a lesson but this generation is retarded).
Wow nice commercial. Haven't seen this one on tv yet though. I know Ben said it but none of you guys said it above, that's a Hot Gf.
Havn't seen that advert before but I have seen other U2 advert alot recently.
the world cup is much bigger than the NFL
Yeah it's hard to argue with the world's most popular sport.
Yay!
But I couldn't tell if the girlfriend's face was pretty. LOL
…I'm sorry…she had a face?
Why do you think it's filed under not a problem:P
her body assured you that her face would not be a problem. If it is, break out the paper bags baby.
Yeah that's why bakery's supply brown paper bags.
Mmmmm bakery stuff.
Wow….Sony is gonna pretty much push this game in to peoples hands not that they have to but will be like..wow..i aint seen nothing like that on any other console {not aiming at anyone in perticuler ;)} & it will drive Ps3 sales i think not by a huge amount(even doe i want it to) but it will drive them….Sony finally going hard with there products & i love the "It Only Does Everything" slogen…& yerr Englands next World Cup Quailifer is on the internet only(which i find fu*king stupid! should be on TV)Well done Sony for Promoting your product
Great news, but I will only believe it when I see it, until then this is just a rumour to me.
I like how Comcast OnDemand adverts it sometimes in their G4 roundup. Still somehow I just feel like this franchise is under appreciated by the community at large.
No they aren't. Killzone 2 was going to be everywhere!!!! and look what happened.
Apart from that, the slim is everywhere, buses and all.
Like newchef, I saw plenty. In fact, I usually see way more Sony ads than those from the other two.
hey i just watched the ad on G4TV
wow i have not seen any Sony ads anywhere
how bout an american ad blitz huh sony
i want somthing in the superbowl thats amazingly funny and have every talking about the monday after in work/skool
hype up da BLACK BEAUTY!!! lol
sony needs to start treating the whole world like a probable customer not just the US.
i remember early this year i went to a killzone 2 event where 2 of GG games developers where there showing off the game.
exactly the same with what sony did in the US this week except we did not get free copies of the game 🙁
sony needs to wake up and stop being so tight ass and arrogant.
people outside the US have bought ps3s too.
you know, its funny i bet you 500 bucks when LA noire is finally out.
it will 1 be released first in the US and second if there is any early playtests they will be exclusive to the US.
even though LA Noire is being developed 20 minute walk away from my house in bondi.
Teamco did it with ninja gaiden 2.
raven software did it with wolfenstien.
epic did it with gears of war 2.
bungie did it with halo 3 ODST, and had a FULL SIZE warthog working.
that was so fu**ing cool shame i dident go.
if all those developers can spare the cash to bring their games and developers here SO CAN SONY!
thats one of the main things i hate about sony, they refuse to spend money unless they absolutely have to.
well sony YOU HAVE TO SPEND MONEY TO MAKE MONEY.
honestly i reckon i could walk around do a survey for 2 weeks asking if people knew what uncharted 2 was and 50 bucks says 99% would say no fu**ing clue!
Well honestly, the PS3 in Australia is pretty much redundant here. Theres no advertisement or any promotions by Sony Australia at all. Only ad that I ever seen was in the Cinema watching T4, and thats inFamous. Other than that, the Ps3 is pretty dead here. Dont know what the F*** Sony Australia is doing. Like you said, 99% of people wouldnt even know what uncharted 2 is even if they own a PS3.
Sony Australia is probably hoping that PS2 owners would automatically upgrade to the PS3 but little do they know majority of them have jumped ship to the Xbox 360. Way a go Sony.
Its really sad that the PS3 in Australia now is like what it was in the US 2 years ago, where people thought that the PS3 is too expensive, they dont know its a blu-ray player, they dont know if it even comes with a hi-fi. WORST of all, they dont even know that PS3 has all the F***ing kick-ass AWESOME exclusives. Trust me, if I were the CEO of Sony Australia today, there would be advertisements and bloody PS3 gaming conventions all over Australia just to educate the people here.

agree 100% just 1 thing.
there are no gaming conventions here in oz are they?
sony actually did a good job for ratchet and clank future tools of destruction.
there was heaps of TV adds and adds at bus stops even on the side of buses.
same for infamous.
but besides those 2 SCEA does not know how to advertise their games.
my freaking dog could do a better job.
Oh ok. didnt realise that they actually had some ads for ratchet and clank: TOD. However, promoting a game just by itself is not gonna be enough especially when there is only a dismal amount of people in Aus actually own a PS3. Sony basically has the most powerful console with TONS of multimedia and gaming features in this generation. They seriously need to get this msg out. The PS3 may be expensive, thats why they need to let the consumers know what exactly they are paying for. For example, an Xbox elite here is retailing for AUD$464 which comes with two games, where as the PS3 is retailing for AUD$494 with one game. Any uninformed customer would obviously assume the Xbox has the better value, but they fail to see that with just $30 dollars extra they would get a blu-ray player and wi-fi on the PS3.
Therefore, Sony needs to get the msg out. In order to do so, they should have probably something like an expo/convention in Top shopping centres across Australia. They should set up different booths to display one of PS3's top features. For example, one booth to showcase PS3 as a blu-ray player, another booth to showcase PS3's top exclusives and so on. The point here is to educate people. That way they can use a powerful marketing tool which they used and depent upon in the past: Word of Mouth. With more consumers being informed of the PS3 capabilities, they will no doubt past on the msg. As said earlier, majority of Australian have no idea what a PS3 can do. For crying out, let me pay the CEO of Sony Australia a visit. Its not like its rocket science to market the PS3 aint it? Come on Sony Australia, whats wrong with you?
Besides that, Uncharted 2 deserves an ad which showcase a trailer of the game as good as Hollywood movies' trailers with orchestral music playing in the background to create the intensity. They should then put the ad in Cinemas in between movie trailers shown before a movie starts. Then after the trailer, they should show the latest sony ad on Uncharted about the guy's gf thinking the game was a movie. At the start of the trailer, they should remind the audiences that all footage shown are in game graphics, and also be proud and let the public know that so far it has 17 perfect review scores. Like I said, they need to educate and inform consumers.
