PSN Content Now Available For Purchase On Amazon

Yep, it's just another way to get your PlayStation Network fix. And with such a large assortment of addictive and top-quality titles, it's always good to have more purchase options.

Today, SCEA has announced a collaboration with Amazon.com that will let users purchase digital access codes for more than 200 PSN games and game-related content for the PS3 and PSP. All you gotta do is check out the new branch over at the world's largest online retailer, and feel free to browse through the selection. You'll find popular favorites like Flower , Wipeout Pure , PAIN , PixelJunk Eden , Twisted Metal: Head-On and much more, so take advantage and flesh out your digital collection. Said senior vice president of Marketing and the PlayStation Network, Peter Dille

"With more than 600 million pieces of content downloaded to date, consumers are turning to PlayStation Network more than ever for digitally distributed entertainment content. We are excited to team with Amazon.com to expand our reach with Amazon’s market leading ability to target current and future PlayStation consumers."

Remember, what you'll be buying from Amazon isn't technically the game itself; you'll be purchasing a code that you will input on your PS3 or PSP, and then you will download it directly. It's a great idea in our minds, just because it further promote the ever-expanding PSN and gives consumers another way to nab all sorts of digital content. So if you're at work and you're just surfin', maybe you should check out the PSN stuff at Amazon and pick up a few things; when you get home, you can just download what you've bought. There are some great deals on there right now…

Don't really see any point to this. Just adds another step. I guess if you don't want to put money in your PSN wallet this works. I love Amazon and use them often. But I can't see myself using them to buy PSN content.

Sony, just give us a Mac version of Media Go.

No longer will I have to pay tax for PSN content. A great idea that saves me money. I'm okay with a few extra clicks of a mouse if it saves me money.

I wonder if this stuff will ever be discounted because it's available on Amazon or if the prices will drop simultaneously when the PS Store has sales. Hmm…

I like the idea, it lets people without a PS3 browse the Playstation Store. Plus, we can buy games as gifts for people now.

Yeah, wishlists and gifts are the major reasons I could see for using this.

WHOA COOL! I could probably buy stuff off of the PS Store now!

Just one question: Can we use this to get region 2 related dlc (i.e., the european store)?

I don't think so, there is no Playstation Network Store on the uk Amazon site.

Actually I didn't see any DLC, just full games. Can you get DLC on Amazon?

Yeah, there was the KZ2 map pack.

Although I must say I feel a bit disappointed about the uk amazon site, I won't give up hope. Who knows, they might do such a thing in the near future.

If you're buying PSN downloads for yourself, all this seems to do is make it very inconvenient.

If I understand what they're describing correctly… for the typical user, the process would be like this:

1) You have to go through the amazon purchase process

2) Then you go to your email and wait to receive a download code

3) Then you need to write down the code on a piece of paper since your PS3 is probably not sitting next to your PC.

4) Then you need to go to the PS3 and fire up the PlayStation Store.

5) Then you need to arduously enter the download code (correctly) using a PS3 controller since you probably don't have a keyboard connected to your PS3.

That seems pretty inconvenient to me. The only value I see added is that you can buy gifts for friends. But buying anything for yourself on amazon seems like a hassle.

If they want people to really use that interface, they aught to establish a linkage between the PSN and Amazon accounts so you just buy something and your PS3 just gets it automatically.

Um the biggest benefit is Amazon doesn't charge state tax so in the long run you're saving quiet a bit of money.

@ SkantDragon: Who on EARTH is so lazy and impatient that they can't a) wait b) write down a code c) WALK to the PS3 and turn it on d) enter the code?
and since when did such trivial tasks become so "arduous" and "inconvenient"? Where did the virtue of patience go?
p.s.. not dissing you m8, cuz I know you don't find it bothersome, just stating (dis)advantages compared to normal process of PSN store

Actually, I've seen comments that Amazon does charge tax in some areas. Not here, though. That would suck.

That's true they do charge tax in a few locations but far less than the PSN. Amazon doesn't charge me for tax or the states surrounding me.

Where do you live Vertigo? change your PSN address to Oregon and you won't pay taxes on store purchases.

Personally I don't care if I buy off of Amazon or PSN, but Amazon seems like it might cut their prices a bit, ESPECIALLY when black friday hits. This might not be so bad.

I am a member of this site that allows you to earn points-and cash- to use towards purchases from Amazon.com. Definitely worth the time to look into it- especially if your financially tight- or have spare time on your hands. Give it a looks. Here's the link:
