Tim Schafer’s TV Appearance: Good Plug For Brutal Legend

I'm not sure if you've had the chance to check out the Brutal Legend demo – I'll do a hands-on preview later today – but it's nice to see Tim Schafer taking matters into his own hands.

Historically, this guy has made some of the finest and most memorable video games in history, but only the devoted and hardcore really know his name, as the majority of his splendid achievements have been overshadowed by poor sales. For a variety of reasons, it seems as if each game he creates fails to have a big financial impact, which is the epitome of injustice. It's even more annoying when one considers the fact that most every single fantastic game is a big seller; gamers typically reward awesome efforts. But it just hasn't happened for this guy and the unfortunate trend may continue, as Schafer and Double Fine's original concept, Brutal Legend , launches on the same day as Naughty Dog's blockbuster and guaranteed Game of the Year nominee, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves . But hey, you've probably already seen some Brutal Legend commercials and as the capper, Tim Schafer himself just recently appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon . No, it's not Letterman or Leno but it's a damn good start, especially because we're not talking about a mammoth production like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 . Check out the video; it's well worth seeing!

So here's hoping that despite the consumer rush to nab Uncharted 2 , there will still be enough interest – and money – left over to reward Schafer and Co. You know, for a change .

I hope you get your wish, Ben. I like that the main character is voiced by Jack Black. That's what really turned my head and got me interested in this game.

That's what got me dis-interested in the game. I know, I know. Not a real word. It makes a point. I do have to say that after playing the demo, I didn't care that Jack Black was in this, anymore. I ordered the game and will await its arrival. .,./

To each their own I suppose. I always thought 'ol Jack was pretty damn funny… with the possible exception of Nacho Libre…

Jack Black is very hit or miss for me and I was on the fence with this but the demo sold me on this game.

i think i going to get this one before uncharted… although i would like both… i'm mad because for the last 4 months there has been nothing to play and now were going to get bombed with cool titles…

Just played the demo last night. As expected the combat seems kinda shallow, but then it pretty much always does when it's the 1rst level.
Either way the setting and humour in itself makes it a must-buy for me.

Dude I'm buying this game day 1 right along with Uncharted 2. To many games, so little money. I hate you gaming world.

If anyone wants to know why Schafer is awesome, track down a copy of Psychonauts.

and they try to counter that by releasing it the same day as uncharted 2 and operation flash point dragon rising?
its official developers are getting dumber and dumber by the minute.

I no eh! it's rediculous, i would love to get this game but Uncharted 2 is in the spotlight right now for me. The demo was great and if it was any other day i would be sold but IT'S FREAKING UNCHARTED 2!

I hate it when 2 excelent games come out on the same day. And in exactly 1 week from this Ratchet and Clank ACIT, and Borderlands are coming out on the same day!

I really wish I had more money

I tried the demo. It was pretty good. The production values seemed high and it was pretty funny in parts. The controls on the driving sequence was a little wonky though.

I tried the demo as well, I thought it was rubbish. The emo band didn't help either, I know it was a joke but c'mon! I'll save my money for Uncharted2, Borderlands, Demon's souls, and Tekken 6. I really don't like Jack Black but if you enjoyed the demo have fun! somehow

That band was very realistic of what's popular today. Very sad what kids are turning into these days. Boys borrowing their sister's pants and girls getting their haircuts by FlowBee's. Eghads!

I thought that the first song was pretty good….better than rap. 😐

I'd rather get one of those axes to my head than have to stomach 10 hours of Jack Black. I don't care WHOSE writing the lines.

I'm a fan of metal, but this game would probably be better without Jack Black. In the demo some of his lines sounded like he was reading instead of acting.

And Dio was axed for bad acting.
