I'm not sure if you've had the chance to check out the Brutal Legend demo – I'll do a hands-on preview later today – but it's nice to see Tim Schafer taking matters into his own hands.
Historically, this guy has made some of the finest and most memorable video games in history, but only the devoted and hardcore really know his name, as the majority of his splendid achievements have been overshadowed by poor sales. For a variety of reasons, it seems as if each game he creates fails to have a big financial impact, which is the epitome of injustice. It's even more annoying when one considers the fact that most every single fantastic game is a big seller; gamers typically reward awesome efforts. But it just hasn't happened for this guy and the unfortunate trend may continue, as Schafer and Double Fine's original concept, Brutal Legend , launches on the same day as Naughty Dog's blockbuster and guaranteed Game of the Year nominee, Uncharted 2: Among Thieves . But hey, you've probably already seen some Brutal Legend commercials and as the capper, Tim Schafer himself just recently appeared on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon . No, it's not Letterman or Leno but it's a damn good start, especially because we're not talking about a mammoth production like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 . Check out the video; it's well worth seeing!
So here's hoping that despite the consumer rush to nab Uncharted 2 , there will still be enough interest – and money – left over to reward Schafer and Co. You know, for a change .
