EyePet Trophies: Teaching Songs, Daily Challenges, More

When the EyePet finally launches in November, we will be treated to an innovative form of technology coupled with what appears to be an adorable monkey-like creature. It ain't for everyone, but it sure is intriguing from a technological standpoint.

And in glancing at the full Trophy list , we learn that we could spend a great deal of time with our furry virtual pet. First of all, we had no idea we'd be able to teach it songs ; you will earn the Bronze Songbird Trophy when you successfully teach your pet 25 different songs. We knew about drawing a picture and having the little dude recreate it, then actually use it in his virtual world, but this is news to us. You will also have to pass a "Pet Report" at some point, as there's another Bronze Trophy – One Good Day – for passing that report (guess we can't be mean to the thing). Then there are the Silver Trophies, all of which gained for completing the daily Challenges. These Challenges extend for 15 days and we imagine everything gets a little tougher and more time-consuming with each passing day; we just don't know what we'll be doing during these mini-missions. Then there's the garden and fish tank and…well, it's a growing world where the EyePet will exist, so perhaps that'll be enough to fascinate the younger crowds. …heck, it might be enough to fascinate me . Who knows? I grow simpler in my old age.

EyePet is scheduled to release on November 17 and please remember that you must also have the PlayStation Eye for this "game" to work; if you don't have one, how do you think your lil' buddy will ever be able to "see" you?

I had mild interest in the game when I first heard of it, but now I'm getting very intrigued in the concept. I might need to go buy a PSEye.

You can get a PSeye with the Eyepet game for$59.99 I think. Maybe just the game for $39.99? Hmmm, I'm 28 and I love new technology when it comes to how we play and enjoy games. I'm really thinking about picking up this game uh.. my nieces would enjoy it

Think they'll ever find a way to link this with home? then your wirtual self can wander around home with your virtual pet…It will be interesting to see, but I don't have kids and I'll be spending my money on games more my style.

I think this is something my son will love, my wife will probably fall for it also.

In a way this feels like a prototype of what is to come in the spring with the full blown motion tracking control system. As someone said in an earlier comment, I wonder whether this can interface in Home somehow? I also wonder whether some of the techniques and lessons learned in this product will ultimately find their way into using the new motion tracking controllers in Home instead of a conventional sixaxis.

Interesting times lie ahead.

Now, since we have Eyepet, I wonder how long it will take before there is a Teen or mature rated version of this starring a rather more interesting anime maid…EyeMaide?…iMaid?

ROLTFLMAO! I bet that some of you just did a 'did he just say that' double take, and then a second 'HHHhhhmmmmmmm……..' double take as your own mind worked on the possibilities. You are all bad people.

I'm looking forward to this game. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play this until christmas, because of it being a gift to my daughter.

We have to make our monkeys sing? That should be easy, but stroking it back to sleep in 40 seconds sounds impossible.

Does age even matter?. I'll be 21 soon and I'm having thoughts on buying this game. Besides, I've always wanted my own pet monkey.
