Motion Sensing Confirmed For Spring 2010, List Of Software

We had heard the estimate before but now it's official, as Sony has announced that their new motion controller will arrive for the PlayStation 3 in Spring 2010.

"Equipped with high-precision, highly accurate motion sensors," this controller will open new doors in the world of interactive entertainment. It will be able to track a user's facial expressions and voice as well as the now-customary body movements, and the PlayStation Eye will be able to place your body directly into the image on the TV screen (as we've already seen). This motion controller will come with two motion sensors, three axes gyroscope and three axes accelerometer that will detect the controller's angle and movement. The sphere at the top of the controller is used to track the "absolute position" and "give visual feedback to users by changing the colors or the illuminating patterns of the sphere." And yes, we know some of you have been asking: it will also support the rumble feature found in the Dual Shock 3.

Of course, we'll need the games to go along with this new experience, and Sony was good enough to provide us with a list of titles that will support the motion controller. And here they are:

Now, Sony will also add motion control compatibility to a few current titles via impending Network updates, and those games are: PAIN , Flower , Hustle Kings , High Velocity Bowling , and not surprisingly, EyePet . Yes indeed, it's only the beginning as this new motion technology of Sony's is both innovative and revolutionary.

Ape Escape!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yes more platform games from Sony!
If done right, this could be one of Sony's biggest first party titles!

The original Ape Escape was beautiful as hell, it truly had memorable environments and plots!

Ape Escape 3 was really good too. It even had a Metal Gear mini-game where you actually used a "Monkey Snake" 😀

But yes, this is beautiful! I hope they do it right!

I smell a mini-game collection, unfortunately. I hope I'm wrong.

With apologies to everyone, especially The Carpenters…

Sing, sing a song
Sing out loud
Sing out strong
Sing of good things not bad
Sing of happy not sad

(*) Draw, draw a sketch
Make it simple to show
Your Mom and Dad
Don't worry that it's not
Good enough for anyone
Else to see
Just draw, draw a sketch

La la la la la
La la la la la la…

Write may not be the right word, mangle and wackylace might be more appropriate…

Still this was not one of my best, but I'm not on form today, too busy ranting at SCEA.

I wonder how much this peripheral will cost. I'm guessing 59.99.

meh, still not really interested… i'm one of those that will probably wait until it's been out for a few months and then make a decision on whether to get it… i'll wait for feedback from the gaming community before i think about purchasing… even then it's doubtful… there's going to have to be a kick ass game to get me interested in this…

So basically all the first batch of motion games will be PSN games by the looks of it. I was hoping that they would have a couple of really good disc based action game with amazing graphics for the launch of this new peripheral. Something that shows off it's true potential. How about a new Bushido blade or something of that nature?

Anyways, We'll have to wait and see what happens I guess.

I heard Capcom was showing off how the controls would work with RE5. It's supposed to come with some special edition rerelease. If Capcom doesn't patch the game for already existing owners and expects us to buy the game again that will be the final nail in the coffin with my relationship with Capcom. They've been piss poor this gen when it comes to the PS3.

I've been thinking and I beleive that the best series to implement these new controls into would be thief. The reason is that your primary weapon is a bow, you barely ever use your sword and it is an awesome game to begin with. And I'm talking about the FP ones not the TP ones

Mamills

great more shi**y motion sensor compilations now heading to PS3 (may the sword, archery and shooter demos and little skill mini challenge games commence)

ahh sigh*

all for the money…
u know y i stopped playing nintendo? because they forgot what gamers are. they forgot their hardcore.

they cater to ppl who dont play video games
they made it into a cheesy gimmick and make it for ppl who don't even like playing real games.

i mean true, there is the possibility that these newcomers will get sucked into gaming but now it seems the trend is catching on to make more and more crappy excuses for video games. I'm Looking at you SAFE CRACKER!

so now we will be bombarded by titles not even worth playing and all will be the same until the novelty wears off

sorry motion sensing is crap.
it will get better i guess but right now.. screw it

Jawknee

How have they forgotten? Twilight Princess was awesome. The new Zelda is sure to be awesome. The Metroid Prime Trilogy is awesome. Metroid Other M looks to be awesome. Nintendo has been a causal console since N64. No problem with that. Just because they aren't as hard core as Sony doesn't mean they have no games worth playing. Mario, Metroid. Zelda etc are all franchises any game player should love.

Maybe you've just grown impatient with the time they take releasing their big titles? I personally don't mind. Them taking their time always results in a steller game.

I'm looking forward on how sony will integrate motion control on shooters like killzone2 or even tps like metal gear. it would be awesome if you could control kratos w/ his blades on GOW3 although you might look stupid swinging your arms everywhere.

post ka monzter.

Ooooooh I never thought of that. If the KZ2 controls are anything like the Metroid Prime controls on Wii only more advanced, that would be awesome.

Bet microsoft are going to rush natal and release it before sony's motion sensing wand, like how they rushed the xbox 360 and release it before the playstation 3.

To all those above, yes RE5 is being retrofitted with motion controls, called RE5 Alternative.

In addition, Sony showed LBP using motion controls.

Well in all honesty it just seemed like a sensible venture for all consoles, I mean we've been trying to make games more interactive since pong lol its not just about competition its about innovation and while I may not like the look of that wand I do have to admit I like where this tech is going ^_^

Little Big Planet will support the motion controller via patch. RES 5 Directors Cut will support both DS3 and new controller and not at the same time as someone stated above.

Also not all games will require two controllers although you should get more then just in case and I doubt the MC will cost no more then $50.

Imagine this with a 3D compatible TV! It will be revolutionary. And for those naysayers out there, something is always better than nothing especially when it appeals to more audiences. I'm certainly looking forward to this 🙂

I played RE5 at PAX on one of the 3d tvs and it looked amazing. So if they did combine the 3d graphics and made these controls work well that would be a really cool experience.

I just don't see them selling a whole lot of PS3's to people who want to play kiddie games with motion controllers. That's just not the PS3's audience, and I doubt it ever will be. They would have been better off spending all that development money on coming out with several new AAA franchises, like Uncharted.

so your saying all those people out there buying wii's wouldnt pay a little extra for a blueray player and the motion controllers that blow away the nintendo motion controller if they look at both systems?

what is a wii still $250? seriously, it is… i just looked and 3 years later that damn thing is the same price as the day it came out and it still sells….

$50 more for a ps3

Remember people you still have to have the pseye when this sh** hits, or you'll just two sticks you can't do anything with. My guess for a total package will be around $120

It's lacking a lot of buttons on the motion controller. It would seem like you are supposed to use the dual shock together with the wand. I tried using the dual shock with one hand, but its too heavy, there's a twisting weight on my wrist that makes playing long games uncomfortable. i hope that's not the final solution.
