We put up last week's poll before any reviews for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves hit the Internet, and that game was already raking in the most votes. Yep, you guys know what you're talking about.
In what could end up being a very tight race for Game of the Year 2009, the majority of you believe Naughty Dog's unbelievably awesome sequel will bring home the ultimate prize. Not surprisingly, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 came in second, but we're a little disappointed in the faith people have in Gran Turismo 5 . If you ask us, we say that if GT5 does indeed launch this year, it's going to give Uncharted 2 a definite run for its money. And yet, more people voted for Batman: Arkham Asylum …which, despite the greatness of that game, is just plain wrong . On many different levels. But I digress; the point is, Uncharted 2 is most definitely in the driver's seat for GotY this year, and in all honesty, it comes as no surprise to those of us who have been saying it since…um…February. Oh, and let's not forget how great Killzone 2 really was; it's still the single best FPS of the generation thus far, in our opinion.
But with all the amazing games on tap for the holiday season, we're wondering how much of a hit your wallet will take. Do you plan to buy as many as you can? Are you reserving a great many for the Christmas list? Can you really only afford one or two? It's always hard to pass up fantastic games simply because we're a little low on funds, but sometimes, it's unavoidable (especially with the recent economy woes). So what's your plan? How many you gonna buy over the next three months?
3 to 5, probably 5. Good number right there
My list goes like this:
Demon's Soul
Mini Ninjas
Uncharted 2
Gran Turismo 5
Ratchet and Clank
Probably a few PSN games too. So discounting the Store games it's right on 5 hehe.
Can't believe people underestimate GT5.

resonate with demon's souls
definitely getting U2 and MW2, maybe getting GT5, not the biggest racing fan though, when are you posting up your Uncharted 2 review guys?
It's a race between Uncharted 2 and MW2
Gosh dang it! I put 3-5 and right as I hit submit, I remembered a 6th game I was getting for sure (LittleBigPlanet PSP). But my list goes as followed.
1. Gran Turismo PSP
2. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
3. Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
4. God of War Collection
5. Eye Pet
6. LittleBigPlanet PSP (grr)
and a seventh IF it comes out
7. Gran Turismo 5
Oh snap! I forgot GT psp and LBp psp :O
How am I going to afford all of this? :*(
rob a bank
LOL good idea! I heard LBP is better in prison. Especially when you play it over.
I'll be buying:
Uncharted 2
COD – MW2
Rachet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time
God of War Collection
Seeing as U2 looks like it has the most polish and is the best overall package of any game(I think) this year it really wouldn't be too surprising to see it win goty from most gaming outlets including psxe.My buys for this year are probably going to be Uncharted 2(no kidding),GOW collection,LBP,Rachet & Clank(maybe) and GT5.
My definite must buys are: Uncharted 2, Demon's Souls, and Assassin's Creed 2.
i completely agree with you
I'm buying 6 game before the year is over.
1. Eyepet(it looks pretty cool)
2. GOW collection
3. Cod MW2
4. Smackdown vs Raw 2010(GM mode is making a comeback)
5. Maybe Uncharted 2
6. Maybe GT5(if the charger srt8 is in)
I was planning on getting GT psp, but reviews for it have said that it sucks.
Maybe uncharted 2, why just a maybe? You dont want to miss out on the best game this year right? I'm not trying to start anything, all i want to know is why Uncharted 2 isnt a must buy for you.
My must buy list:
Uncharted 2:Among Thieves
Ratchet & Clank Future: A Crack in Time
God of War Collection
Gran Turismo 5
Let's see:
Demon's Souls
Uncharted 1
Uncharted 2
GOW Collection
Valkyria Chronicles
Concerning GT5, I ain't dissing it but has a racing game ever won GOTY over something with a wider appeal?

Yes it has
Gran Turismo 2 was the game of the year back in 1999 in Electronic Gaming Monthly (EGM) magazine.
Alright! enjoy valkyria chronicles man. and by your list, youre gonna be pretty busy.
Good to know scarecro. And yeah man I'm gonna be busy.
Soul Calibur for the Dreamcast won the EGM Game of the Year award in '99. Gran Turismo 2 won a platinum award.
GT5,Uncharted 2, GT PSP,Assasins Creed 2.
MW2 and U2 for me
There's too many great games from Sony.
*shakes fist at Sony*
I will be getting:
Uncharted 2
MW2
AC2
NBA 2K10
and finally, GT5(if it releases)
*as a side note, I feel like GT5 isn't getting much GOTY support because there isn't much hype for it right now and no one knows if it is coming out for sure this year…if it gets officially announced i'm sure it will start to be talked about more.
Of course people voted for Batman over GT5. Rocksteady has given us a Batman game that many never even dreamed would be this good. GT5 will be great no doubt, but it does not appeal to as wide an audience as Batman does. To say it was wrong to vote for Batman is short sighted. The big picture is that gamers want awesome games based on their favorite comic book characters. Not the drizzle that's been handed out for decades to make a quick buck off of a name.
If you honestly believe Batman appeals to a wider audience than Gran Turismo…I'll have to disabuse you of that notion right now. Sales alone are good enough to prove that GT has always been a blockbuster franchise worldwide.
Bet he doesn't know that Gran Turismo is the best selling series in the Playstation franchise
Second only to the GTAs if I'm right.

Batman > any racing game
Are you implying that GT5 is a "quick buck"? Quite a ridiculous notion. I don't like racing games at all, but I must still disagree with you there.
It mostly depends on the territory. In Europe (Maybe Japan) GT5 would out sell any game (including Batman)on any system easily, in the US not so much. You underestimated GT5 appeal;I myself haven't bough a racing game since Super Monaco for the genesis but I'm anxiously waiting for GT5(Trailer was hot).
Gran Turismo doesn't appeal to a wide an audience as Batman does? What?
I think some people in the east 'might' not know about DC Comics.
But I do I think everyone likes cars to some extent ^_^
what do sales have to do with that?
i agree with Alienange GT5 is strictly for racing game fans.
i never have been into GT5 its to unforgiving for my liking, if your not a 100% pro and drive like a pro it punishes you out the A$$.
only the elite can pick up GT5 and enjoy it to its fullest.
where batman appeals to anyone.
anyone can pick up, play it and enjoy it.
what does sales have to do with popularity?
what because a game sells better people would vote for it more in a poll?
im sorry but that sounds like xbot mentality to me.
Batman doesn't appeal to anyone, cause am not appealed yet after trying the demo.I'd pick GT5 over these comic super hero games anyday! That Unreal Engine textures on Batman dont appeal to me and he's quite fat, I expected him to look more like the Dark Knight movie. His arms are just too short and thick! I'm even forced to bash the game just cause its being compared to the awesome GT5.
I know a lot of people who bought a GT game. I also know a lot of people who think GT is unplayable. Most of the are the same people. I think a lot of people get fooled by the superb graphics, but are quickly let down by the frustrating game play.
@hezzron
GT is not unplayable, it's simply a game that requires you to learn how to race, and not an arcade racer. That fact that your friends can't be bothered to learn is no reflection on the game at all. If games are about doing things that we will very likely never do in real life, then GT5 is going to be a perfect example of a video game since very few of us will ever have the time, money or talent to race cars well, and build custom tuned rides to race with.
As for Batman, yes, it's all very nice, but doesn't appeal to me at all. GT5 on the other hand is a must buy.
@ Ben – A lot of reviewers point to sales numbers as some magical reason why a game is good. Your Poll however was simply based on peoples opinions and Batman scored higher than GT5. Therefore more people who visit your site feel stronger about Batman as GotY than they do GT5. Why you call them out saying their vote was "just wrong" doesn't seem justified one bit.
@ NiteKrawler – I was talking about the years of Batman drizzle.
@ Scarecrow – Don't bet on what I know.
@ hezzron73 – The playability of GT5 is akin to that of MS Flight Simulator. More sim than game. Doesn't mean people don't like that.

I only have two games that i am going to get for sure no matter what.
1.Gran Turismo 5
2.Modern Warfare 2
the others i wont kill myself over.
MW2 shouldn't win. Call of Dooty has become so stale and tiresome. It's gonna be Uncharted 2 or GT5. Although inFAMOUS would get my vote.
i agree but some of those perks things sounds interesting. It wont have that much of a difference from the cod4 in my opinion. It should be all about the quality of the game not its sales…. the difference between exclusive and multiplatform sales arent a good measuring point.
I agree, I'm tired of the COD franchise its been overused and having a new one every year is very annoying. COD has become "a way to make a cheap buck" what they have upgraded just isn't enough some of the perks are cool but its still all of the same stuff. The game is in no way innovative. And imo not worth $65.
heh heh… dooty
It all depends who's handing out the awards.
Uncharted 2 should take GOTY.
I feel the same about CoD, but that won't stop people from buying it.
oh god, there's too many… here's my wishlist so far over the next three months
1. Demon Souls
2. Uncharted 2
3. Gran Turismo 5
4. Modern Warfare 2
5. GT psp
6. maybe Eyepet
7. maybe Batman
as you can see, if the game is an RPG, or it has a deep multiplayer mode, then it's a guaranteed purchase for me. the maybes are just probably rentals i guess.
but who knows i'll probably only afford 2 games out of the top 5 this year 🙁

"good things come to those who wait… and preorder in gamestop"

Uncharted 2
Alpha protocol
Modernwarfare 2

aside from that I really wanted to get borderlands, demons souls, and RB the beatles, but you can only buy so much
