Ben-DutkaYou know, when I first found out we were getting 100 codes for the MAG beta test, and then learned we'd be doing a wallpaper raffle of sorts, I wondered to myself, "gee, will we even get 100 uploads?" Man, I'm an idiot .
I either underestimated everyone's drive for one of these valuable little codes, or I miscalculated how many people routinely visit our site…or both. Because now that all the codes are gone, I've totally lost count but I think there may have been as many as 750 submissions, which was just plain overwhelming. You have to realize that I had to look at every single one to insure it fit our requirements, and I also had to rename most of them as well. Then, after a while, a lot of duplicates starting heading our way and thanks to my ridiculously perfect memory (a curse, not a blessing; trust me), I would know if I'd seen it before. I was about ready to collapse last night and I couldn't leave the computer for more than an hour, 'cuz I'd come back and there'd be 25 more wallpapers! For a few seconds there, I really hated all of you. 😉
But you guys did an absolutely amazing job. I didn't see a single solitary offensive or X-rated wallpaper and only a few had logos or site names that I had to reject. The only other ones I rejected were duplicates – I think – and I'm sure I approved most; we got great stuff in the Nature department, and there were tons of wallpapers for Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , God of War III , Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots , Final Fantasy XIII , LittleBigPlanet , and even a few custom-made ones for MAG . And there were quite a few hot babe pics, too, so it's a fantastic assembly. We couldn't have asked for a better response, really. And in the end, those 100 codes are gone, and I'd like to think they went to worthy individuals. If you uploaded like 20 or 30 wallpapers and didn't get one, I sincerely apologize.
The bottom line is that I'm sorry there have to be any losers at all. Oh, and I know some of you have had a few issues with the code, but everyone who has reported those issues have gotten back to me and said the code works now. So if you have one, just know these things are a little iffy but it will work. And as much as I hate to say it – I'm so wallpapered out – feel free to submit wallpapers in the future. You'll only get Author credit (provided you fill in the Author space, of course) but hey, that might be enough for you. And thanks again…we'll see a lot of you in MAG . 😉

Wow, there were some really great submissions! Dlding some of them now.
But Ben, I know you don't want to hear this after all of your work, but a few of the Uncharted wallpapers named as "Uncharted 2" are actually from Uncharted 1. I think there's only two tho. Just fyi. =)

I'll admit. Once I read the article to win the MAG BETA.. I quickly became a member. I do pop in to this site every so often. (btw very superb journalism) I didn't expect to win. Did anyone spend the time to make a PSP or PS3 theme?
It would've been harder than making a wallpaper but I was going to make a PSP theme.
Though I knew I didn't have enough time left so I didn't enter. I'm good at it, at all.
Maybe a quick wallpaper could have gotten me a beta ^_^

I wrote a thread on that in the Forums, first have your PS3 at 16:9, then go to the internet browser push Triangle go to Tools => Display area=> Full Pixel then triangle again Tools => Resolution=> +2 and there you go.
now, this was my kind of contest :D… i think building a custom wallpaper was the trick needed to get in… at least, it worked for me… thanks ben!! i'm not a big FPS fan but, maybe this game will convince me to like another…

HAMCHU I use this site on my PS3 browser and never have had a problem. I even uploaded all of those PSP/PS3 wallpapers through the use of my PS3 browser
i have the add overlap problem…
maybe you use hdmi, if you do, then i think that solves it… or you use a 16:9 as opposed to my 4:5 resolution tv..

ah i laughed so hard when i read that.
so everyone with a code that didnt figure it out do not try to redeem it on the xmb you need to go into the store and redeem in the store.
there is a lot of downloading to do. maybe the servers will be faster on monday morning. i spent like 3+ hours total downloading stuff.
when i finally got in there was only one type of game going with 64 players max.
Funny thing– when i saw this post i gave the site to my friend thinking "hey, i dont think people do win in stuffs like this" so what the hey just for the fun of it lets see how he does. And lo and behold, he wins a code! Moral of the story- dont count your chickens before they go on winning MAD codes! hehe.. i tried joining also but alas, it was too late and too many have already joined in. oh well, at least im a good friend 🙂

Heh. Makes sense why I recieved my code on Monday: there's been heavy traffic. Still downloading after 3 hours =/
Hahahah, just imagine those who suffered the same problem and got given a code by PSXE xD
1) I redeemed the code through XMB to no problem
2) It musta took maybe an hour no bullshit. Downloading went fast. Installing no (Did that Saturday)
3) There seem to be only two playable modes. 32 VS 32 battles to no problems.
I'm a level 5. Honestly the game runs very smoothly. Creepy polish for a beta. It has been one day and MAG feels fantastic. Can't wait for the final copy. (And please.. easy trophies this time Zipper =/ )
i think i uploaded 16 and did not receive a code… 🙁
