They made the announcement, almost in passing, during Sony's E3 press conference: the PlayStation 3 exclusive Agent , in development by Rockstar, was on the way.
We didn't get any additional details at the time and we still don't have much more besides baseline information : it's set in the undercover spy world of the 1970s and it has been rumored to feature a similar sandbox style to Grand Theft Auto . Rockstar has remained mostly mute on the project but we do have one additional quote that might intrigue you. They were good enough to answer a few questions , and although the reply was short, it's definitely promising. In response to the demand for "teasing," Rockstar said:
"Thank you – it's not likely we will have any more news this year, but the game is shaping up to be something truly spectacular."
Well, that's certainly a tease. Rockstar also says that Red Dead Redemption is en route to becoming a massive action title in 2010. Many have been waiting for this Western-themed shooter for quite some time; if you need a fix in the meantime, give Call of Juarez: Bound in Blood a try. As for Agent , we'd like to think more info will come our way next week at the Tokyo Game Show, but it may be the wrong audience for such a project. But we'll cross our fingers..

Maybe Agent is the game GTAIV was meant to be but without the DVD gimp effect.
the DVD gimp effect has hurt so many this generation…
We are at the edge where DVD is becoming obsolete. There are many games where DVD still fits perfectly, blu-ray is not needed, like Resident Evil 5 and Street Fighter 4. It is games that really should be bringing up the bar, like MGS4, that needed more DVDs.
IMO RE5 was one the games that needed BD over DVD. So many complaints about that game being short.
Goodness RE5 was waaaaaay to short. That tool Sven at Capcom Unity lied about it's length. He promised at least 18 hours of gameplay. Took me 10 my 1st play and 3.5 on a speed run. RE5 is probably my biggest disappoint this gen. Plus the PS3 version suffered from Lost Planet syndrome. Not as bad but the problems were still there.

RE5 had problems that had nothing to do with the lack of every system having BR, imo. Unless the reason we were forced into not really having a proper SP campain to accommodate their desire to bow to fashion over RE/survival horror tradition was down to that too?
It's biggest issue was, for me, having to play through SP babysitting big bum-who had nither the ability nor the brains that Capcom thought she did. Playing the SP after doing the game in co-op online was anordeal for me, wasn't like a RE game and should have been a true SP experience and if that happened because of the 360 and DVD then I am gutted.
They still had room for the godawful Vs mode though so IDK if that is the issue or if Capcom just aren't as good as they once were. Their best current gen efforts pale besides the better PS2 games, imo, and I don't see any sign of it improving no matter how much disc space they have.
As for R* and Agent-what do you expect them to say about their PS3 exclusive? It's going to suck and they can't be bothered taking advantage of anything the PS3 offers? I can't see that- can you? Sure, I'm hyped for the game but I'm not going over the top til I see something of the game and so far there's nothing but faith in knowing who's doing it.
Looking forward for more info on this. I loved gta iv btw, took it to 100% in 75 hours played.
I can clearly see you did no such thing lol
You mean you took 75hrs to get to 100%?
I assume you were messing around a lot (kind of like me)? lol
Rockstar Exclusives are back in the heezy! Can't wait to see what they can achieve with all that power and space.
R* could move some ps3's if they wanted, for the basic reason you mentioned. Because of the boatload of content they can fill a bluray with, it almost seems like the ps3 was made for a GTA type game and vice-versa….
You don't need to read the future to know devs want to make games bigger than 8gb. R* has always pushed the envelope so PS3 exclusivity is a must for them, there's no other option.
I hope it goes well for them. Im anxious to hear more on this game.
I really can't wait for this it has a lot of promise and hopefully rockstar can go back to its roots and make a groundbreaking game for a change. It'll be interesting to see if they develope a series for the ps3 or if there will be other exclusives after this. Would like more info on the game but I doubt we will get any this year like he said.
Im interested to see how they recreate the 70's in a sandbox city.
I'm very interested in this as long as it stays exclusive. If it goes multiplat down the road, then I'll only be remotely interested, but still interested nonetheless.
How many of you will bet this game will have the biggest "open-world" in-game.
Gonna' recreate a Dean Martin or Frank Sinatra gun-blazing gangster that works for a local Godfather..
^_^
I can't get into GTA, but I am interested in this game.
i would really like to know more about this game but, like it said in the agent thread in the forums, R* is notorious for this… i knew we wouldn't get much out of them this year but, watch out for spring!! screen shots, features, and a little bit of story is coming our way…
it's not hard to wait that long for information because, there's no information!! it's been put in the archives of my brain until R* gives me something else to think about… and damn will i be excited when i finally do get some news!! R* always seems to make games i like…
This game will stay PS3-exclusive for another three months or so.
How can you not get into GTA? anyways I hope it's like Hitman and gta combined and I'd be more then happy.
what happened to l.a. noir
Supposedly its still on the way.
I'm sort of looking forward to Red Dead Redemption but I'm kind of iffy. I'm not really into Rockstar's sandbox games. The only one I liked thus fat was infamous. It was done amazingly well, GTA series…not so much.
I guess I'll give Agent a try since it's exclusive.
Lol sorry, major iPhone typo.
