Fallout 3 GotY Edition Announced, PS3 DLC Dated

We're closing in on the one-year anniversary of Fallout 3 and to celebrate, Bethesda Softworks plans to release a special Game of the Year edition .

This will go on sale on October 13 for the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and PC; it will boast all five expansion packs that were previously released for the 360 and PC in one package. However, if you're a PS3 owner and you already have Fallout 3 , you can start downloading that DLC next Thursday, September 24. Next week will get you Broken Steel, which raises the level cap to 30 and extends the game's storyline, and then on October 1, you'll get Operation Anchorage and The Pitt. Last but not least comes the final two DLC packs – Mothership Zeta and Point Lookout – on October 8, so PS3 owners won't have to miss out on any of the extras. RPG fans who have played Fallout 3 on the PS3 have complained about Bethesda's apparent ignorance of their existence; the publisher will be the first to tell you it's not about bias or console preference, though. Therefore, just be happy that you will soon have access to all the DLC that has heretofore been available for the 360 and PC versions of the game. No complaining, m'kay?

If you haven't yet had the pleasure, Fallout 3 remains one of the best games of the generation and arguably one of the best RPGs of all time.

Cool, I just hope this doesn't turn out to be the "Glitch of the Year Edition" that Oblivion did.

i didnt buy the goty edition for oblivion i actually just bought the expansion disc cus i got it on ebay for like $5 bcks plus S+H…
anyways i thought that was fine as far as glitches go…

now all i have to say is its about damn time bethesda. Literally this game was just as big on the PS3 as it was the 360 and we ps3 users that put our faith, enjoyment, and money into the game and you epically failed us, what a shame…

N E way thanks for finally letting us have a chance to play the dlc! GOOD NEWS cus i wanna play it bad!

Sorry bigrailer, this is just me bitching about the unsolvable vampire glitch that ruined my Oblivion game again.

ok yeah that one i did have a prob. with thanks for reminding me! was it the same as mine where u are turned into a vampire from the disease, then sent to find that witch u collected all the ingredients after u collect them all no matter how much blood grass you got from oblivion nothing happened? ugh your right i hated that luckily at the time that was my second character and i hated that character n e way lol!

so no i appologize. but that is one of my favorite games of all time absolutely brilliant!

Don't you keep multiple saves? Or did you stay a vampire so long that you don't want to replay everything? I haven't encountered the glitch, so I don't know what it does.

thats the one! and yes I keep multiple saves, but somehow that one got by me. You see I didn't even know I had become one and by the time I figured it out and went on the entire quest to fix myself I had already gained about 7 levels with more than 10 hours of play and there was no way I was goin back. So now I have to blow 6 bucks on an old rental just to fix it.

And might I add: Bethesda has known about this forEVER and still won't patch it.

Yes, though it will probably be $70 in Canada.

Buying all five DLCs will run you $50.

Just buy the GOTY edition.

At least by buying the GOTY edition, you can place it on your shelf and display it, if that's your thing.

love this game.
your gonna laugh, but i've played up to 30-40hrs on this game and i still haven't completed the main quest and its still my first playthrough 🙂
i've just been exploring the land doing sidequests here and there and generally screwing around. epic doesn't do the title justice

nothing funny about that, some people put in twice that before beating it.

I am guessing that the platinum trophy took me about 100 hours or so, but I was pretty hardcore about it at the time, heh.

nothing funny about that, I'm at 80-90 hours in and I'm still a long ways off. And I bought this game when it launched. Something about RPG's being so long that I want to try and get as much of them done the first time through, because it's usually a while before I go back to them again. But it's nice, My character has been maxed out at level 20 for a while now, so there I don't really die a whole lot now.

I figure by the time the GOTY edition of this game is only 30 dollars, I'll be ready to beat the original..lol.

My biggest problems is that I don't have time to fit all these games in anymore so I have to spread it out somehow. Anyone want to pay me to stay home and game all day so I can make some progress?..Anyone?

Love this game, but I finished it ages ago. I waited a long time for this dlc but what's the point now of rushing to get it? I guess GotY edition will eventually be the way to go since it's going to cost pretty much the same anyways. I recon I could even wait until it drops to 30 like Oblivion did.

hey PS3 guys, we can talk about it not being released in the earlier stages of it's existence but, we are getting these 5 DLC's in the span of 3 weeks… not 6 months, 3 weeks…

there's a reason to the current delay and you know what, the delay in the past means nothing to me anymore… i still got my money's worth without the DLC… and i still do… now i get to extend the 2 current files (evil & good), plus start all over once i've played all DLC's both ways… we finally get to log that complete file from the beginning :D… can't wait…

lol, i'm just talking to the ones that still play it because for the rest, GOTY edition comes out a week later…

I bought the game when it came out, and I'm pretty pissed that the DLC took so long. I'm wondering how much the DLC will cost. I dont know if it will be cheaper to download each one, or to trade in my copy and buy the GOTY.

I originally had this game for ps3, when they started coming out with the dlc I thought it wouldn't take to long for them to announce it for ps3, however after waiting a long time I decided to sell my ps3 version and buy the pc version. I really enjoy the game but for some reason when using an nvidia powered pc it crashes every 5 minutes. So now I'm gonna have to get it for ps3 again to enjoy the dlc

Sweet. All the DLC will release over my vacation!

I knew something was up today when I popped the Fallout 3 disc in and the version updated with 24 MB's. I'm guessing to lube the new data.

Just figured out that 24 MB download is new trophies for Broken Steel. 22 new ones. I guess that's one way to entice you.

Sorry Bethesda. Those weeks are reserved for NEW 2009 games. Ninja Gaiden E 2, Demon's Souls, whatever NBA 2010 title I pick up…You get the picture.

No DLC dollars from me, Bethesda. Next time don't treat me like a neglected bastard middle child, just because I decided to buy your game on my favored system.

Yeah I've put over 200 hours into Fallout3 for sure. First time I just went through and beat it normally, then my second time through I got all the trophies. Then my PS3 died on me and when I got it back I went through it once more, getting all the bobbleheads over again as well. Now, I'm done with it… it's a little late for new dlc for me. I'm going to trade it in to pick up Borderlands for my FPS RPG fix ^^ I always wanted a Fallout3 type game with online co-op to play with friends (and 2 player split screen)

Great news for me! I'm somewhere in the middle of the main quest and have long way to go yet, with all the side quest… plus I'm simultaneously playing Fallout 1 on my laptop(will follow by Fallout 2 :)) I LOVE this game:)
Cheers!

So they say that it is "not about bias or console preference" Was it greed then?

I shall be passing on this, This DLC is coming too late, I am over Fallout 3 and will spend my money on a new game.

I'm glad I decided to wait on Fallout 3 now, was busy with other new titles and catching up on old ones so I choose to hold out till the price came down. Then they started putting out DLC expansions so I went with my instincts and decided to wait till they did something like this and released a GOTY edition that included everything like they did previously with Oblivion.

To the folks who bought the "Special Editions," I feel your pain for paying more and then not getting the "full game." However, maybe in the future you'll decide to pass on the inflated price for swag and just get the game itself. Was the included clock really worth it?

If these are incredibly cheap, yeah, I may get them, but geez…five **LATE** download expansions…how much money will this game finally end up costing me!

Even buying a GOTY and taking in my old copy costs gas and little money back ya' know?

Yes, gaming ain't cheap, but you KNOW they'll put out "just one more pack we found later in the sofa-seat cushions, and you HAVE to buy this too for the COMPLETE experience"…

Decisions, decisions! To quote the great poet Izzard;

"Cake or Death?"

"Cake, please."

I thought Little Big Planet won GOTY. How many GOTY's can there be in a 12 month period? What a crock, although I think Fallout 3 deserves it more.

its pretty much any game nominated plus you gotta realize there is more than one internet site, broad cast company, and even gaming magazines, and video game awards companies, that do these awards so…

im just assuming say fallout 3 wins goty from g4 tv which i believe it did, it may not have won at spike tv video game awards but will still say they got game of the year cus technically they did.

i guess it just it just goes by which critically acclaimed awards ceremony you wanna follow!

this is just speculation too!

If I "News Publication A/Event A/Reviewer A" gives a game an award for Game of the Year then the publisher has the right to make a Game of the Year edition. I know it's shady right? However the Game of the Year Edition's save the consumer money from the Milk Machines that is DLC. I would never spend $50 on Fallout 3 DLC but I will eventually buy Fallout 3 GOTY.

Furthermore I believe that LBP is one of the most greatest underrated games ever made.

I traded my collectors edition game the week they announced the GOTY edition. Got 35 in trade for it and used it to pre order Killzone 2. Never played more than 10 hrs or so, i'm stocked for this to hurry up and come out. Will slide it right into my collectors edition lunch box with the rest of my goodies.

Well after buying the PS3 version. I did consider getting the XBox version as well. I'm glad I was patient.

I hope they've improved the engine as well. I had a lot of freezes (after endless hours of play) and frame-rate drops. Am I asking too much?

BeezleDrop
BeezleDrop

No your not asking too much, no one is. I'm glad moths after the DLC came out they decided to finally get around to it. I really enjoy the game but I cannot play it anymore, my patience has been tested to its breaking point. Fallout3 on the PS3 is a pathetic excuse for a video game, yes when it works it works well but that's not often. No other game in history will ever run quite as bad as Fallout, the most horrible glitches I have ever seen, the sound just cannot function properly, collision detection issues all over, the poor framerate, and freezing? Seriously, I was excited for the DLC but Bethesda did a great job and showed me how to NOT develop a video game.

im not sure what everyone is talking about with bugs, i didnt really have to many problems. i remember a freeze or 2 but considering i played that game more than any other game i own on my ps3 i didnt care about it freezing twice. i really look forward to playing the dlc but i may actually go get the disc. i cant decide but if i end up paying 50 bucks either way why not get the disc.

buying the GOTY edition is cheaper than buying all of the DLC at £7.99(UK)each, for those of us who will be purchasing all content why cant we have a discounted price for buying in bulk?
