Although we won't get it until next year now, we remain very, very interested in Bayonetta . Who doesn't want a game that seems to mix elements of both Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden ?
But if you're not yet convinced and you want to check out some behind-the-scenes info, keep checking the Platinum Games Blog . Today, you can learn all about the weapons of Bayonetta ; weapon designer and CG modeler Muneyuki "Johnny" Kotegawa will happily walk you through each bad-ass firearm or blade available. This ranges from Bayonetta's dual guns to weapons her foes will use, and keep reading to study up on the Kulshedra, Shuraba, and the Lt. Col. Kilgore. The speed and diversity of this action extravaganza is what attracted us in the first place, and to find out there will be such a large multitude of very unique weapons is more frosting on an already-appealing cake. While Capcom hasn't announced Devil May Cry 5 yet and God of War III is a slightly different beast (within the action genre, anyway), you're going to want to keep Bayonetta on your radar. However, we get the feeling that it might take a good long time to master some of the weapons on display at the blog…
Oh, and if any of you still have reservations about playing a game that features a woman as the main character, we suggest getting over it. We promise you that it doesn't compromise your masculinity.
Related Game(s): Bayonetta
I often prefer to play as the agile woman so no problem there, I'm just afraid this game will be a bit "empty" ya know? Anyone with me? I'm keeping an open mind but if it releases anywhere near GOWIII then it's no competition. So what's the story with her catsuit made of hair?
I don't know, I really like the style, but that's just me. I admit it won't compare to GOWIII, but I'm not heavy into GOW games like that; I only watched a friend of mine play through GOWII. It was awesome to watch, but it seemed like he was mostly mashing the buttons. It's really a matter of preference in that regard, I believe. DMC games (which I think Bayonetta easily resembles) really encourage you not to button mash, and that's why I prefer them.
Even David Jaffe (awesome modest dude) admitted he thinks their combat system isn't as good as DMC. While I think he was being very modest, I think there's some truth to it too. Don't get me wrong through, I really think GOW deserves every last ounce of praise it gets. As far as DMC goes, I truly believe (even though DMC4 was mediocre by standards) it has the most polished combo system than any action game.
But I think you're mostly concerned with how this game will feel to you. Again, it's probably going to come down to preference and I think most people really love GOW for its pure badassedness that Kratos brings to the table. Me though, I think I'm going to enjoy Bayonetta because I have a strange taste for Vampire styled, anime-looking characters. Beyond that, I really trust Hideki Kamiya to deliver something good and original.
I can button mash through any DMC you can throw at me.
DMC3 on dante must die mode?
It's a girl witch thing I guess.
But I really do like the idea of the hair garment!

It's not the idea of a female hero that bothers me. This game is taking a back seat for me for a couple reasons.
1: I haven't finished the games I've got and I don't know when I'll have time to play it. With all the great games that are coming, Bayonetta is going to be a game that I'll buy if I have nothing else to do.
2: After having played all the DMC's, I'm kind of tired of that style of gameplay now. Maybe when that game comes out I'll look in into it again, but right now..no thanks. But that's just me. I hope other people buy this game so that it's successful and they make more.
okay, maybe not on the hard modes 🙂 But you have to be a young genius with too much time on your hands to play those modes anyway.
I had too much time on my hands ^_^
I'm not trying to brag (I hate bragging) but I seriously didn't find DMC3 hard.
But yeh I did die countless times before Cerberus but after that I understood the game.
And Dante Must Die wasn't as hard as it was time consuming, it started to become like an JRPG game lol. You gotta' wait for the other guys to attack or you'll just get pwned.
And take turns ^_^
Yeah, if you avoid a game solely because the main character is female you really need to pull you head out of your a$$.
I *had* a friend that refused to play GTA:SA because the protagonist was a black man. Needless to say I lost a LOT of respect for him and we're no longer friends after knowing each other 10+ years. That wasn't the only reason, but it sure didn't help. He did eventually play it, but the damage had been done.
Wow, that's just bad. I never knew people took their main characters that seriously. Hell, I'd play a game even if the main character was Richard Simmons, as long as it's damn fun.
I think gamers who can't play a character because of gender or race, aren't as mentally sound as people who don't take those things seriously. Apply the ancient proverb "It's just a game." here.
@Byakko: Lol, Richard Simmons! Way to illustrate the point!
lol Just imagining Richard Simmons in a GTA game as the lead role makes me laugh.
@ byakko,
Maybe you will have to wait for the ballad of gay tony?
We were roomates at the time when I bought it. I was showing off how cool it was and he just said "I'm not playing a game as a ni**^%." I was dumbstruck, I wanted to punch him in the face. He was never really racist, maybe some off-color jokes, but that kind of thinking is just sick. It's as stupid as not wanting to read a book because the protagonist is of a different gender/race. Just because you're experiencing the world through their eyes, that does not make them you.
Daymmmmm.
I dont play GTA games because there are way too many tall people.
Some of my favorite games have female characters Heavenly Sword, Tomb Raider, RE1-5, any fighting game since SF2, Vagrant Story:)
Currently playing WET…
I don't think it is an issue unless my character's ass becomes a distraction, I'm looking at you Battlesuit Jill…oh boy am I looking at you.
Me too
I was pretty interested in this game until I saw a video of someone playing it with one hand, basically just pushing one button repeatedly. I dunno, still interested but I'll wait for some reviews first.
I think that is a special mode you can enable, not the norm.
Im buying this for sure I already preordered long ago. I love fast paced action games.
it makes sense for you, but for me, im not really into this sorta stuff. i likd ninja gaiden and am gonna get gow3, but there so much else im interested in, it wont be worthwhile for me to get this.
I just read that platinim games isnt going to work on the PS3 version, they are having sega port it.
When will people learn?
