Star Ocean PS3 Will Enjoy Worldwide Simultaneous Launch

The big news gets better for role-playing fans.

Despite that excellent announcement, we still weren't sure if Square-Enix would bring the PS3 version to North America or Europe. Well, perhaps surprisingly, we have learned that this new and improved Star Ocean will actually have a worldwide simultaneous launch ! That's right; the game will arrive everywhere on February 9 of next year, and that should come as a relief to US and European gamers who have been waiting for Square-Enix to make The Last Hope multiplatform. The addition of new characters, an improved aiming system, both English and Japanese audio, improved menus, and a few other appreciated tweaks will make the "International" version the best one available. Like several other RPGs of the generation (including Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia ), this title debuted on the Xbox 360, and PS3 owners were a trifle annoyed at first. But patience is a virtue, and now that it's coming, you only have to wait a few months longer.

As far as most RPG fans are concerned, the more available titles there are, the better. Of course, we all still want Final Fantasy XIII , but there are other games coming.

Its funny how Microsoft and Square-Enix became best friends just from Timed-Exclusives but still crawl back to Sony for the actual sales of their products.

A "worldwide simultaneous launch" for a Star Ocean game? That means the possibility of a worldwide simultaneous coma of gamer boredom.

I just hope that i get a job or back into school by then so i'll have some sort of income to get it. Glad theres the japanese tracks on it. The english dub of the little girl irritates the hell out of me. their voice over work sucks, kay?

@World,

He's probably talking about the excess leftover money he has after he pays his tuition; buys his books; and, if applicable, pays his dorm bill from the financial aid he receives… or a student loan, whichever.

Ben, can you confirm the new characters for the PS3 version? Everywhere else I've read about this makes no mention of new characters; only the voice-overs and the auto-targeting improvement.

Since I have only beaten one boss on my xbox version I think i might trade it in and buy this instead, especially if they fixed the battle system

Maybe it won't be the greatest, but we need our JRPGs guys, and more than anything we have to show the evil greedmongers at SE that the Sony crowd is where the sales are at.

SO basically microsoft has been indirectly financing PS3's success. Microsoft provides dev support and income to the developers under the condition that the game remains exclusive to 360 for some interval of time. Once this time elapses the developers wish to port the game to the PS3. Sony says the game must have extra content. PS3 ends up having the superior version- RPG library on PS3 grows- RPG fans all buy PS3- PS3 is king of RPGs again!

It's too funny.

Ahh, i need more rpgs and I'm also a fan of the Star Ocean franchise so I will definitely get this game. Now I'm hoping and praying that Konami would make a Suikoden VI for the ps3. I also wanted that game so bad..

Roll over Squenix because I don't plan on buying from you for a long time. Final fantasy is the only reason I still have to deal with you.
