You know what? Sometimes it pays to stop and smell the roses…even if there don't appear to be any roses in the vicinity.
There's no doubt that Batman: Arkham Asylum is a fantastic game, and as soon as we began to play, we didn't have any real desire to sit at the menu screen and stare. I mean, we're not lunatics. But as it turns out – and this is a story you'll see floating around the Internet, informing all the impatient gamers about the missed update – there's an important message that pops up in just a few seconds. There's a news ticker at the bottom of the screen, and that's where it says the game will receive some free downloadable content in less than 9 days time (right on September 17, apparently). We haven't the slightest idea what will be included in this DLC, but for now, it's just enough to know it's coming. This is a game that could definitely benefit from new content, simply because it's always an absolute blast to play; nobody is gonna wind up bored. PS3 owners can already nab the free DLC on the Store that lets them toy around with the agile Joker, but we assume this fresh batch will be available for both the PS3 and 360 versions. Time to play fair.
So keep an eye out next week for some additions that will make Arkham Asylum that much more appealing.

now i need to pick this up!!! i have been tryin to get the cash together to get this and now i really want to play it. i am still tryin to catch up on some of the games i couldnt get when i first got my ps3. playin uncharted. this game is awesome. now i want to get batman so damn bad!
i spend my last 60 bucks buyin this game and i didn't regret it one bit.
Good man cochise313, you know how to invest your money properly.
Any other developers would charge for this dlc.
I love me some free DLC.
Just finished it last night. Great game. I have ti go through again, 'cause I missed two enemy trophies and 3 riddles…
you can go back and get the riddles after the game is over. The trophies come after riddles and I want to say some challenge rooms.
I wonder what it is..probly so new challenge maps…bring in a new badie we can play as..Jokers fun to be..but i bet he aint half as run as Croc or Bane.
I think it might just be the scarecrow challenge map that came when you preorder it from gamestop.
As if… I just traded Batman in to put towards my Uncharted 2. B: AA was a very good game. Easily the best Batman title ever and definitely one of the best superhero titles ever. My only problem with it was that I would often get stuck on walls while running around. That drove me nuts. I traded it in because I didn't see myself ever playing through it again. Great game, though.
Its a excellent game and DLC would be great.. I think they should add more characters for the challenge mode.

A lot has been done right with this game, and they're continuing to do so. They're a good example for other developers.
Not that i have the game, but i applaud for not wallet raping their customers.

Microsoft doesn't play fair…why should we…I hope they charge the 360 users up the a**hole and it's free for us Sony loyalists
THAT… would be hilarious.
The free DLC will probably be the GameStop preorder bonus the Scarecrow "bones" challenge rooms.
No the free DLC is more challenge modes. My boss came back from his Conference and informed me of this. Im slightly excited, but hey it's free, can't complain.
…how does your boss know?
LMFAO!
Come on Ben, the boss was at a "conference"… he MUST know.
<snicker snicker snort>
I don't want more challenge modes dammit! I want a storyline expansion. My only problem with AA is that there weren't enough bosses.
*SPOILERS*
They repeated Scarecrow 3 times for christ's sake (not that they weren't good), You never even got to really fight Croc or Harley, and Bane was a total pushover. I'm sure that they're saving the rest for sequels, but in reality there were like 3 REAL boss fights. Kinda lame.
What I've noticed is that there is very little hype surrounding ODST. Hell, I haven't even preordered the damn game yet. None of my roommates seem to give a crap either and they're xbox fanatics. Funny that they've starting saying that they want a ps3. The tides are a turnin my friends. #%&*, I meant to reply to Highlander, not myself.

You can't reply to your own comment before anyone else, wtf!
I hope u think ur messing with me 🙂
Well, since we're talking about DLC, can anyone tell me on a scale of 1 to 100, how hilarious is it that Halo 3 ODST won't see any DLC? I mean, isn't ODST simply an overgrown case of DLC anyway? Even though the story is that there will apparently be no DLC for ODST, are we now at a point where a game's DLC can be big enough to get it's own DLC?
Haha, good point. Only on the 360.
HEY HOW DARE YOU, THAT'S HALO YOU CAN'T TALK BAD ABOUT! IT'S THE BEST DARN GAME EEEVVVEERRRR
/sarcasm
on a scale of 1 to 100 i say m$ scores 10000000
Ahh free DLC… The kind I can afford. I wish all of them were free.
Kucky! i wish i had the cash to afford this too!
I got an email from the Playstation Network the day this game dropped, and it mentioned exclusive challenge maps (available within 30 days after launch) and downloadable content for the PSP. I would guess this is the DLC to which this article refers.
Damn. More FREE DLC. Not that I don't have the money to spend on DLC, I do, but anything free is worth it.
This game's fantastic. Now they're handing out free DLC? Wow … all eyes on Rocksteady.
And I still haven't gotten my copy. Damn you futureshop and your slow as hell stock replenishing!
i just read this off CVG and they got a update from eidos saying we cant talk about DLC for now, but we would not start a counter for nothing.
so in other words we cant confirm anything but were confirming it?
got to love PR talk.
i just finished this last night for the second time on hard, and i wish they would allow you to cancel your takedown move.
a enemys on the floor so you hit L2 and triangle you dive ontop of him than another A$$ hole punches you and you cant move out of the way.
youve got no idea how many times i have died because i cant cancel the take down move.
o and the doge response is extremely slow i hit x twice and 3 seconds later he dives, i died so many times against bane because batman would not doge fast enough.
and 99.9999% of the time spent playing the game, is spent wondering WTF am i suppose to go it gets really annoying walking around in circles for half an hour.
fix those 3 things, allow cancel of take down move, speed up batmans dodge, and add in a tracer or something like what KZ2 or dead space has.
change those 3 things, o yea and add a on screen map its annoying having to pause the game all the time.
change those 4 things and the game would be perfect.
An onscreen map? No thanks. I guess it is just too hard to press select? I never had any problems trying to figure out where to go, except for when I had to get back to the Batcave. It's really not that difficult.
Dude, the area map has a big blinking "!" showing you where you ultimately need to go. Beyond that, a little detective work maybe. lol, you are Batman after all 🙂
I hear you on the response time for certain actions though, more than once I've hit the dodge button and watched helplessly as his long-ass legs get smacked into by a running, juiced up thug. But it was never more than once or twice per confrontation. As far as the take-down animation taking too long, you've got to choose your moments, or just mash the Triangle button when the other guy is about to hit you. Sometimes that slips The Bat right into a counter.
I have had a couple of instances of him hitting a wall and staying in the running animation, that's kinda annoying, but has never put me in a position of being in danger. But in a sequel that should be looked into.
Overall, I friggin love this game. The killer Croc level was just tense enough without being overly frustrating, I really enjoy the Scarecrow encounters, quite imaginative. Love pummling thugs too, throw 3 batarangs knocking down the armed ones, then glide down to kick one of the standing brutes, then into full whoop-ass mode. So sweet.
Dang, can't wait to get out of work and play some more 🙂
