Critics and gamers were often at odds concerning this year's Prototype , which some absolutely adored while others found it to be a letdown in comparison to Sucker Punch's stellar inFamous .
But if you're in the former camp and you'd very much appreciate a sequel, you'll be happy to know that Radical Entertainment just might be working on Prototype 2 even as we speak. The evidence comes from designer Malcolm Wilson's LinkedIn page , where it states he's working on a currently "unannounced project" for Radical. The interesting part about this is that he started on the game the month after completing his work on Prototype – completed January 2009, new project started February 2009 – so that may be a good indication as to the identity of this mystery title. On the other hand, it's easy to just say, "well, duh, he finished one game and started working on another immediately after the first one was done. That's what work is." But those who have completed Prototype know the ending leaves plenty of room for a sequel, and considering the solid performance of the game on the sales charts, Radical could very well be pursuing a follow-up adventure for Alex Mercer. So would you like to see Prototype 2 or would you rather they focus their efforts elsewhere?
For our part, we still say inFamous was easily the better game, but we know of many people who enjoyed both. Playing as superhuman dudes typically has a positive effect.
Related Game(s): Prototype
Sure, why not. Maybe they can improve it.
Surly there can only be one prototype, so would that mean the next instalment would be called Official Release.
Great. Craptivision has a new franchise to milk. Watch this becom the next Gaytar Hero or Call of Dooty.
that would be funny if call of dooty was a bad game
Call of Duty was a good game. Now…..Not so much. I can only play the same game with a fresh coat of paint so many time before they all start to look and play the same. But I don't expect you to understand. You seem to like mediocrity.
So you saw somebody write this and you just had to copy.
godslim stop going on a monthly hiatus.
Don't you mean Call of Sales: Gimmick Warfare 2? =D
Hopefully Infamous 2 will combat this game. I didn't like the first game, probs won't like the second.
Loved inFamous, only problem I had with it was that once I was a total bad ass with all the powers there is nobody left to mess up using them on ( I did the side all the side missions before completing the game) along with no way to carry accumulated powers over to a fresh game, that said inFamous is a great game and one to check out!
I will be looking into Prototype at some point, but with everything coming out in next few months it may be a while till I get round to it.

@ Imagi, that was the problem with Prototype, you became the ultimate powerful badass after about an hour of play. There was no challenge.
cheers world, me thinks this maybe a rental or wait till it's a little cheaper.
i couldn't afford to buy two superhero games back when this came out… so i went with the exclusive… however, someday down the road when this game reaches the bargain bin, i'll probably pick it up because, i did hear some good things about it… and by then, it'll be worth the look…

At the right price this game would be a steal, maybe at $20. From the game play and all the footage the game looked like rubbish. I was never really into the concept so the utter failure of the game was no surprise to me, yeah i agree with Orvisman, if they can improve it that would be great.
I wish I had played the first Prototype (and inFamous for that matter), but time constraints got the better of me. I really like the open world superhero games…I thought Hulk:Ultimate Destruction on the PS2 was some of the best fun you can have over a weekend. So I think if they busted out a second game that it would make me more apt to run out there and play the first one.
Dude. Get inFAMOUS. It's worth it.
yeah, so far inFamous is my GOTY. Worth the price of admission. Pay little or no attention to the demo.

If you liked hulk ultimate destruction get prototype…like now lol infamous is good, dont get me wrong, but honestly prototype is very similar even in setting (well infamous sort of is but not as much as prototype) and you really are like the hulk when you get a certain power up in the game
I liked Prototype it was a good game and it probably would have been criticize better if it came first so people wouldn't compare it to inFamous
didn't people already know there was going to be another Prototype game, I mean the name says it all doesn't it
Awesome news if it ends up being true. I really enjoyed this game but it had it's issues. Maybe those can be addressed in the sequel.
Maybe if they fix the controls and the lame story.
I recently got Prototype for a decent price (From a nice girl so as not to give money to activision) and well, it is entertaining and has it's "holy shite" moments but reeks of the word "multiplat" inFamous was waaaaaaaaay better imo. I wouldn't buy a Prototype 2 unless it was in the bargain bin. Too bad too, if it were a PS3 exclusive it could have been polished and made into a really sweet game.
I wouldn't mind a new Prototype that used Long Island as your base, and then the goal was to conquer the rest of the world. Think of the time that'd take for exploration and infection. Not to mention chances of mutation when exposed to god knows what else is out there heh.
Prototype looks like a game I'd have enjoyed about 10 years ago. For me, the sequel will need to arrive at least 8 years ago.
For this is a game that would make a nice coaster.
What's you're fav RH album?
Couldn't be pinned down to a favourite album, though 'How to disappear completely' is prolly my favourite RH song.
Word. They're all good. I think there there is my fav song.

God please not a sequel to a bland game.
But that's what Activision does best!
I really enjoyed prototype, although the end boss wasn't all that hard to defeat. I'm onto infamous now and enjoying it and not comparing it to prototype (anymore).
Instead I'm judging it on it's own merits as I did with prototype, since I had prototype first. Although there's some (ok alot) of ways to compare them. Different superheroes (baddies) with different play throughs.
With a few tweaks here and there, a Prototype 2 could kick serious ass.
Is there anyone that would say that prototype is better than infamous? I havnt played prototype, im just curious.
I enjoyed it better then infamous but then again I'm really getting hooked on infamous now. You won't be wasting your money on which ever title you decide on.
Infamous is awesome, almost bought Prototype at first but went with the exclusive. Almost at the end again and due to a slip up in my 1st play through I need to play through one more time as good to get my platinum trophy. Burnt myself out playing non stop the first week or two but will definitely finish it up before anyore major purchases.
hopefully when this comes out, their wont be any other open world games against it.
i think thats one thing that hurt this game, it has so much competition.
that and the game was so repetitive you either fight the military protect the military or fight those mutants.
how about some variety?
infamous is still and probably will always be my GOTY.
Didn't buy prototype, didn't appeal to me and I don't think I'll be getting the sequel, unless it's actually better.
I bought Prototype and i actually liked it..I think if the game only had better graphics people wouldnt think that inFAMOUS was better at least they would think twice.
I loved the game.I would like a sequel but the ending of the game didnt show much..
But , why dont think on a prequel?
there will be a prototype 2 i have pics
I hope they do make a second I mean alex mercer has unlimited power they only touched what they "could" make him do in the 1st game, even if you didnt like the first one imagin the passibilitys, Wings, consuming stay animals, mabey with the girl from the first and the other guy gone(spoil free) he can controle the infected.
they shud defiantly make a second prototype coz the first one had good ideas but they just didnt them rite but they cud probably do a way better second one like assassins creed did a way beta one then the first for the second instalment if u get where im comin from
plus they shud make it a ps3 only coz then they could do more with it
Why people still hating on specific games? i have gamefly,i played both.both are great…it would have cost me 120 bucks roughly to play both, get gamefly, and play what you want….
I will admit that I cannot compare [PROTOTYPE] and inFamous, because I have not played the latter, but [PROTOTYPE] was without a doubt he best ps3 game I have ever played. I loved every minute of it, from the awesome graphics to the fast-paced playing and the incredible level of violence and gore.
Assassins' Creed II was awesome, almost as awesome as prototype, but once you have finished the game there are not many side missions to do and once you have done them you cannot replay them, and the game is just non-stop treasure hunting, except that it is not hard to find the treasure.
Prototype can actually be pretty hard, you just need to play it on normal difficulty to unlock hard mode. Plus you can replay prototype with all your stuff once you have finished it, as long as you play it on a difficulty mode the same or lower than the last time you played it.
NOTE: this has to be the first time you go to replay it. If you replay it on a higher difficulty, you will not get the stuff you had, and if you then play it on an easier mode, you still won't have it. You need to play it right next time.
All in all, [PROTOTYPE] is the most awesome game I have ever played, although I hope to get inFamous after christmas.
By the way, I am awesome.
Anyone think that infamous has some of the same components of Dark Angle?(Dark Angle is a t.v show) Such as the whole end of the world thing and the t.v hacker theres other stuff but i can't remember them
