Yep, more PS1 classics are headed to the PlayStation Network, for play on either the PlayStation 3 or PSP. The more that come, the more we can take a look into the past and go, "aw, remember that one?"
According to the Examiner.com , the ESRB has leaked a list of new PS1 classic titles they've re-rated for release on the PSN. This includes recently released games like Bloody Roar and the Tomb Raider s, but there are plenty of new faces…one of 'em is pretty weird-lookin'. Here's the list:
For those of you who weren't around during the PS1 era, the Oddworld titles were some of the most impressive of the time. The original Oddworld was not only one of the best-looking games on the original PlayStation, it was also one of the most original and in my opinion, one of the absolute best. The sequels weren't too bad, either. Syphon Filter 2 is a great addition, as is Um Jammer Lammy (the sequel to PaRappa the Rapper , if you weren't aware), and those Coolboarders games were an absolute blast for fans. Gotta love our PS1 classics!
Is this just for the yanks again?
I resent that. =P
well, hopefully these will come over othe EU.
more chance of that happening than anything from the Jp store! lol…
although ur a scouser but i put my voice to urs
to many good games coming,BO:LOK,oddworld1,2
pande,TR1,2.BR
OMG Cant wait
Hey nothing wrong with us scousers lol 🙂
this is a site that typically reports PS news for USA, so yes. your better off looking to somewhere that is EU and reports on PS Classics.
Not one of those interest me. Where's FFVIII and IX? I contacted Capcom abd asked them for MvC1. They said no go.
You might want to take a chance on Oddworld:AE if you want a cool story with unique and original gameplay. The graphics may have faded with time, but the fun will not go out of style. Anyone out there feel the same?
graphics will look great on the psp, I was playing this just the other day, theres loads of detail there..
It will look very cool and play amzingly well on the handheld.
perfect couple of games to come across.
oddworld was great. will be picking that up when it comes to europe. i still go around chanting "umumumumu follow me!"
Word. Thanks.
MvC1 for PS1 isn't very good since you can't switch in tag matches.
Don't remember that being a problem but you could very well be correct. Maybe they can port the arcade version or dreamcast version.
Finally! Pandemonium! i loved that game!
Me too.
I loved Oddworld:AE. Never got a chance to play the sequel. Just might have to check it out.
They need to bring back ridge racer type 4 🙂
sod all the other games, Abe is coming home everyone!
…and relax… ahhhhhhh.
so, erm, when is Lorne Lanning making the others like he promised? lol.
oh just to comment on what you said Ben, I totally agree…
but here in the EU we have a cool boarders game for the PS1/ PSP.. I brought it, I played it.. I cried. (didnt really.. im a big strong man)
I loved cool boarders, but really somethings just do not age well.
im gonna get oddworld for sure. and maybe un jammer lammy…eh probabaly not.
sim city 2000 eh? i remember playing that on the PC… if it's $10, i might look into it… i love sim city…
and i remember hearing good things about the oddworld games back in the day but, i never played them, nor have any idea what they were about… anyone want to inform me? lol…
SimCity2000 is available for download right now on the PS Store.
HIGHLANDER! You've got you old avatar back? =D I got got CB2 and boy are the graphics bad, I used to have so much fun. That and metal gear solid were two of my first games ever on ps1.
ok…
fart
hello
grrrr
ok
those are the things you will hear once you have started Oddworld. its hard to explain, youtube it!!
its basically a platformer, but an intelligent one, one that isnt your normal run, jump, hide and attack. its a story that will pull at your heart strings and lol while youre doing it.

i'll youtube it later today… duh, i should of known someone was gonna tell me to do that lol… but it's true, if you want to see some gameplay footage, you can always find it on youtube…
The Oddworld game are the best, that series is the only reason I ever got a XBOX.
Um Jammer Lammy should be cool to the kids get a kick out of Parrapa, they should love this.
Im gonna download some of them when I get my PSPgo.
Unfortunately we won't see PaRappa the Rapper as a PSOne classic and at the lower price because that would cannibalize sales of the higher-priced PSP version.
I won't buy these anyway. I just need to find the time and motivation and figure out how to put my huge collection of PS1 games onto memory stick for my PSP Fat.
Why? HotShots Golf on PSP has sold alongside the PSP classic for some time.
There are other examples of this. Personally I am not sure that one cannibalizes the other, they may be complementary.
Hot shots on the PSP is a new game with new graphics and gameplay isn't it?
Parappa The Rapper on PSP, as far as I can tell, is identical to the PS1 classic. So, why would Sony sell one for $5.99 and one for $20-plus?
Also, ask yourself this, why release Unjammer Lammy, the sequel, for PSOne classics before Parappa The Rapper if you plan on releasing the latter at all.
There are two HotShots games on PSP specifically for the PSP, but there is also one of the PS1 classic versions of Hot Shots Golf available on PSN.
The Wipeout games are another example of this, and FFVII shouldn't take too much away from any of the various FFVII sequels that have arrived.
I'm just thinking that it's like cross marketing something, the one supports the other, you know?
I loved Oddworld, I just wish more games were made for players to actually care for the the characters. Great story in that game.
LBP, R&C, Uncharted, the upcoming Eyepet, most RPGs have at least one character you like, though there are exceptions.
That said, I do miss the golden age of the platformer that spawned Ratchet and Clank.
What I would love to see is an RPG based in a conglomeration of the various game worlds with Crash, Spyro, Jak, Sly, Ratchet, and all their side-kicks along with the villains brought together for some mash-up, platforming fun with an RPG like story and character development. It would be a massive game.
I like the way you think, kind of like Kingdom Hearts but with playstation characters.
GIVE ME RESIDENT EVIL 2 and FINAL FANTASY 9 NOW!@!!@!#!@$!$!@#!@#!@!#!
LV, were you ever able to get the characters HP to 9999 in FFIX? I maxed out everyones level to 99 but their HP and MP was always short of 9999/999. VII and VIII I was always able to mac out the HP and MP. But not in IX.
If I recall correctly I was also unable to. However I was such a powerful badass I didn't really care. Good point though, I wonder what others have to say on this (highlander).
With VII and VIII once you reached level 99 you could mess around with the materia and junction system to push the HP and MP to it's max of 9999/999. But in IX I couldn't figure out how to do it.
I agree Jawk, I personally thought 9 was quite difficult.
It was. The AI was more intellegent then usual. The enemies would focus on one character at a time and would relentlesly pick on your weakest character or the one closest to KO. Kept me on my toes.
Did anyone ever beat the ?Ozmond? (not sure what what it was called)? That thing was tough as hell. Harder than the Omega Weapon of VIII and the ruby weapon of VII.
Yes sir.

i still want ffviii
i'm still holding out for diablo
Diablo sucked on the PlayStation. Its much better on the PC, and will run with the absolute basic set up.
Anywho, Im glad to see all these classics on the PS store now. Keep 'em comin' I say!

Great to see someone who appreciated these beautiful games
I love rpgs, but you'd have to be BLIND not to love this list.
Tomb Raider, Bloody Roar, Cool Boarders, Legacy of Kain, Abe Oddworld, Syphon Filter, etc.
TOMB RAIDER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!… That is all.
I'm sure its a good list of games but sadly i never got to play any of these titles and I'm sure I missed out. I'll probably buy 1 or 2 but I really want spyro 2 gateway to glimmer on the UK PS Store. Oh how i missed that game.
