The leaked video first popped up on YouTube and then became an official teaser during the Ubidays event in May last year. It came as excellent news to the loyal cult following generated by the original Beyond Good & Evil on the PS2.
But since then, the negative rumors have been flying; the sequel didn't arrive with Ubisoft when they came to E3, and the latest news isn't encouraging. As reported by GameSpot , Ubisoft told Gamersyde staff writer Colin Solal Cardo that the game "had been placed on indefinite hold." Apparently, a Ubisoft representative at GamesCom last week said:
"I got confirmation at Cologne's Gamescom that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is on hold for now. No idea if it's def or temporary but it sucks."
This comes not long after Ubisoft's North American director Laurent Detoc told IndustryGamers that it "remains to be seen" whether BG&E2 ever comes out. At this point, it's tough to say what's going to happen, but there are plenty of disappointed fans out there. Beyond Good & Evil was one of those games that managed to generate a loyal and vocal following; a following that has been pining for a sequel ever since. But perhaps the team has run into a snag in development, or something…whatever the reason, we'll just cross our fingers and hope for the best.
Such injustice
Both Beyond Good and Evil and Heavenly Sword have slipped under the bus…
Seriously, gamers disappoint me
I have the original BG&E…great game
Would love to see this new game
PS: Why the fuck did they bleach Jade in this new trailer? -_-
I kinda remember playing the first one, I don't remember how much I liked it though. Any game on hold is bad news though.
Lets just hope that its temporary. Im looking forward to this game.
The first BG&E is seriously one of my all time favorite games. I played it through from start to finish in one run. It was actually the game that got me really excited to play video games again. The story was awesome, sorta Orson Wells-ish, fight the man-type of plot. The controls were great, the world was really cool designed, and the characters were perfect. I loved every minute of the game and was so sad that it didn't seem to catch on with the public.
I was extatic when I saw the teaser for the sequel, so this is very sad news for me… I really hope Ubisoft come to their senses and give this series the second chance it so deserves.
Ubisoft loses points for making an official teaser trailer and then putting a game on 'indefinite' hold.
WTF Ubisoft?
Why god why?!!! I was so stoked because I was under the impression it was under development. The 1st was such a great game, must the good ones be stuck in limbo?
Gutted 🙁
Oh Ubi…u fail so hard. Just like Haze, the gameplay in AC, TMNT: Turtles in
Time, and pushing back Splinter Cell and Red Steel 2.
sequels=me not THAT interested. unfortunately hype seems to sell games these days. well good games anyway.
Whats the deal about TMNT Turtles in Time?
meh as long as assassins creed 2, splinter cell conviction and i am alive make there release dates im happy.
but seriously WTF is going on with i am alive, it was suppose to be out late last year, than TBC 09 now they have set it back to between late 2010 early 2011.
god do they have to do this with every single game they release.
if suckerpunch and naughty dog can do what they have with infamous and U2, i think ubisoft should be more than capable to do the same.
god not to mention insomniac there on a whole different planet, 5 games in 3 years thats bloody insane.
i would love to see ubisoft do that, any game developer for that fact.
i never liked the first one. not very interested in a second one, altho on hold is bad for all things

I remember picking BG&E when it came out looked at the back and decided to take a chance and it was worth it imo. A great well written story and the end got you primed for a squeal. WTF ubisoft?
The original was a breath of fresh air, that along with Haven: call of the king. They were similar, same style, same fate but, BGAE was better.
It makes sense they won't do another, money is motivation this gen more so. Originality is few and far between.
This was one I was really hoping for this year … but as time went on, I heard nothing about. E3 came and went, Gamescom came and went. Now this news. I have lent out the first one so many times to friends, telling them, "you HAVE to play this!" …..
… this blows
Boo
Wasn't this game renamed 'Afrika?'
Looks like I need to go bargain bin shopping. This, like Ico are titles that managed to slip under my radar when they were first released. I have Ico now, and so far it is pretty good, I will for sure look for this one next.

This was one of my favorite PS2 games that went largely unnoticed much like "Ico" did ! I enjoyed this game and was looking forward to the PS3 version ! I also wish someone would bring "Odd World" to the PS3 !
didn't take long for that to happen….
