It may redefine the nature of storytelling in games as we know it, and when it arrives, it'll be another reason for PlayStation 3 owners to be glad they have Sony's console.
Of course, the key question has been: when will it arrive? Heavy Rain was initially scheduled to release this year but Quantic Dream decided to push it into 2010 so the new IP doesn't have to butt heads with blockbuster sequels like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 , Guitar Hero 5 , Halo 3: ODST , and Uncharted 2: Among Thieves . As of now, the game that everyone is talking about only has a "TBA 2010" release date but Dutch retailer EPlaza may have provided us with a clue: it says the product will be ready on February 1, 2010. Now, this sounds more like a placeholder date to us but at least we can count it as an estimate, right? It seems like a good time for a release because it comes a little after a few major titles drop in January and right before March, when we're going to see God of War III . There's no doubt that Heavy Rain will be almost entirely unique and therefore not in direct genre competition with any game, regardless of when it launches, but still… Gotta get the timing right or things can go badly.
Here's hoping this one does indeed land on the first of February. Provided the team hasn't hit any speed bumps along the way and they really were ready to launch it this year, doesn't that mean they can release it almost whenever they want in 2010…?

Off-Topic: I saw a copy of Demon's Souls from one of the local video game stores when I went to the mall 2 weeks ago. It's already available here in the Philippines even though the released date on the US is on October! how is that possible?! I wasn't able to buy it because I don't have enough money yet. I'm gonna buy it on my payday at work on September.

I believe it is the Hong Kong version which was released eons ago. The menu, case and trophies are in Chinese but the voice-acting and in-game text are in English. The true ATLUS western release will be shipping in a few months with speculation of extra features and the like.
And also, the Hong Kong version utilizes the Asian servers as opposed to the Atlus version that will use the US/English based servers.

Thats pretty good actually, i was disapointed when it was first delayed, but Feb is quite reasonable. This game shall excell and quite possibly the best PS3 exclusive.

Ive watched the Gamescom trailer over and over again and the more I watch it, the more excited I get for this game. Feb would be an ideal time to launch, as there isnt too much traffic then is there?
Exactly what ed_winchester said, first i wasn't really interested in this title but now i want to get it day 1! The trailer & the gameplay for Gamescom got me hooked to this game, its just so unique. Now this game is on my top 3 anticipated title list lol

actualy im planning on getting odst because it seems so much better than the past pieces of **** they call halo but i still wont get to play online with it since i refuse to pay for it

so which is better, the hongkong version or the US version? Well, if you want the Hong Kong version then that's up to you. However, once you go online, you'll be in the Asian servers. The US release will have their own private servers where the majority of the players (if not all) are English-speaking players not to mention there's also rumors of "extra" content (or updated graphics).
But if you're not interested in that then by all means enjoy the Hong Kong version, so far I've heard positive reviews from players but even they themselves will re-purchase the US version when it releases due to the English online community.
Good gracious, Sony has so many first-party titles coming out they are releasing 1 each month. Gran turismo-December(rumored), Mag-January, Heavy Rain-Febuary(rumored), God of War(March)…..ease up on my wallet Sony 🙂
Now all I need is some sort of announcement on a possible Resistance 3 and I'm happy.

White knight Chronicles and Quantum Theory are also coming on 2010. 2010 is gonna be a great year for the ps3.
I'm especially excited for quantum theory, but for some reason I don't think it will reach the states/Europe in 2010, I think it's ganna get the same treatment as final fantasy 13, since it's being made in japan. It will go through some localization and then arrive in the states, but hey if it lands in 2010 I won't be complaining. It's about time we get a third person shooter.
@charger not all games made in japan take so long and i think that itll be made sooner because of the fact that its aimed more for the people here

Looking at the Developer's Diary of Heavy Rain really blew my socks off. It's possibly the most interactive game (those who call the game QTE based-only should have their faces smacked) I've ever seen.
From what I've observed, another character is introduced as a P.I. going to a local shop where the owner's son fell victim to the Origami Killer. After rejecting the P.I. (with a series of interactive thought features) he decides to get a painkiller only to have an unstable dude busting in to demand money from the register. At this point there are so MANY WAYS the scenario's will change at this point and I tell you it was fricken intense.
Oh, unlike that stupid frame-buggy trailer on the PSN, this one was so darn smooth and boy the graphics are stunningly realistic. DAMN MY WALLET'S GONNA FALL APART!
*Holds L2 and the thought process surrounds Ricochet in a very unstable manner.
