We've known about the upcoming Game of the Year Edition for LittleBigPlanet for some time now, but we finally have the official details courtesy of the PlayStation blog.
Not only does it come with that $30 worth of extra downloadable content but based on the performances of certain users who have created their own content for the game so far, Media Molecule is doing something special: they've "hand-picked 18 extraordinary people to create bonus levels specifically for the GOTY edition – complete with interview with each creator." Talk about amateur designers getting their names up in lights! We'll also get 7 whole packs from the PlayStation Store, including the "Paintinator" add-on, the Metal Gear Solid Level Pack, and a variety of Monsters and History Costumes. But perhaps most exciting of all for those who just adore this whole concept of "Play, Create, Share," a "limited supply" of the GOTY edition of LBP will feature a special voucher code for the impending ModNation Racers beta test. This will be your one chance to test out the new build-as-you-go racer before it launches in 2010; if you wish, head on over to the ModNation website and register. The two games in question embrace the idea of putting a ton of creative control in the hands of the gamer, and that's just fine by us.
The LittleBigPlanet Game of the Year Edition will be in stores on September 8 for the standard retail price of $59.99. But don't forget everything that comes with this special version!

damn i want this so bad (mainly for the modnation beta) but i dont even have a ps3 yet =(
Waiting on a price drop?
I hear ya on that SnipeySnake!!! Thats my main reason. But i already got LBP.
Argh! What about the peeps that already have LBP? Hmm. They should make some ModNation Racers levels on LBP to earn some vouchers… or have they already?
OFF TOPIC: I made into the MAG BETA today and I have redeemed it through my PSP. Funny thing is my 60gb PS3 doesn't work and I haven't recieved my shipping stuff so I can send it to be repaired. This suck.
ON TOPIC: I wish MM would reward those who were there from the start with something idk Awesomely cute. I wonder if there's going to be other ways into the MR Beta?
Sounds good to me have to pick this game up again.
If any game can be Game of the Year two years in a row it's LBP.
LittleBigPlanet is a fun game. Get it, have fun. Simple.
And if you guys actually have friends, you'll so enjoy the game even more
Playing 'round these DIVERSE levels is fu**ing awesome, specially with friends
I think I'm gonna get this version of the game too, probalby gift it to someone…
I WANT THAT MODNATION BETA!
PS: I was in the LBP beta too hehe
Modnation!!!
You can say that again Scarecrow!!!
Nice, I've played with a friends copy LBP and this is a good excuse to get my own copy now, lol.
normally i dont sell back games, but for LBP, i will trade in my copy and get the GOY edition
I doubt you'll get much for it, LPB normal edition is dirt cheap, you'll probaly get 1/8 the original retail price.
sorry for the confusion, wut i meant was i already had my normal LBP copy, i want to sell it back and get the updated version. 😉 but surely it will depend on how much credit they gave to me.
p.s. the normal copy in canada still sells 64.99 CAD, the price at your place is so cheap, lucky you
At first I didn't like LBP, then I bought it and loved LBP, then all the 'additional content' turned out to be primarily costumes and such rather then actual extra levels created by the designers so I eventually lost interest and felt like Sony was kind of nickel and diming folks over alot of the addons (how many costumes do you freakin' need?).
I'm thinking that this GOY edition with all the included 'additional content' is probably a good deal pricewise if you add up the original cost of the game plus costs of all the extra downloads but remember the bulk of the 'included additional content' is design stuff (i.e. costumes, objects) and not more actual 'professionally created levels' so it's still a blah game to me again at this point. While some people have done some amazing things on their own with level design I've really yet to play any user created content that was even close to the fun of the Media Molecule levels (other then the few floating out there anonymously done by media molecule folks).
