Okay, so a lot of you are down on Activision for being money-grubbing and totally insensitive to a gamer's wallet. But you might want to thank them for one little promotion.
If you're a hardcore Guitar Hero fan, you'll likely want both Guitar Hero 5 and Guitar Hero: Van Halen this holiday season. But that will obviously put a big dent in your checking account, so maybe you're just hoping to get one of them as a Christmas gift. Well, according to GameSpot , Activision is giving you a way to get both…for only the price of one. "While supplies last," you can nab specially marked copies of Guitar Hero 5 that will include unique codes that can be redeemed for a copy of Van Halen . This can be done through the promotional website , or via regular mail. Just remember, though; this offer ends on October 31, so you might want to drop your pre-order in now to take advantage. One interesting aspect of this deal is that it says to allow up to 6 weeks for delivery, but that would mean you'd get Guitar Hero: Van Halen in mid-December at the latest. Oddly enough, the release date is December 22…so does this mean you'd actually get it early, too?
Well, anyway, this deal is going on anywhere Guitar Hero 5 is sold, and really, it's a damn good option for the fans. This is a true-blue "buy 1, get 1 free" deal, and in all honesty, we can find no way to knock Activision for this one.

Nice
Huey Lewis and the News > Van Helen
Cause "That's the power of love!"
lol
yawn don't care
Imma say it again f activision they are the biggest ps3 haters breathing right now. They will not get any of my hard earn dollars again, thanks but no thanks.
^ then u are not getting Call of Duty MW2 good more games for me
yeah its called buying a used copy genius
Yeah imma get it used dude
I would have jumped on this deal if it was 2 years ago. Guitar Hero became repetitive after a while. They killed the name for me already. I moved onto some other gameplay.
A game where you hit 5 multi-colored buttons over and over getting repetitive. Never saw that coming.
I suppose thats good incentive for the brainwashed GH fanatic, it is a good deal though. I'm not excited for MW2 in the least, and activision isn't helping me. I'm stoked for Bad Company2, the frostbite engine is just so astounding. MW2 will be great but it will get old and I'll go to Bad Company just like I did with MW.
Good deal but guitar hero is same ol same with every game. By the way cant wait for Bad Company 2 also!
I have to admit, that is a good deal. But not for me.
I suppose it's a pretty good deal. However, it's more like including an expansion pack with the game. If Vanhalen is anything like other GH spinoffs it will be short.
Eh, no thanks. I'd rather play my American Fender Deluxe Telecaster or my American custom Ernieball Musicman Stingray through my Ampeg SVT-Classic head and my 8X10 cab.
Ok I agree with you that real guitars are cooler but I think you just sounded a little too show-off and proud Jawk?
lol ^_^
Agree with you 100% Jawk. My Washburn and PRS just make life better. All GH did was make me spend $87 on a waste of time.
And Banky, come on man, musicians are proud of what they have. Instruments aren't getting any cheaper you know.
I think this deal is for US only by the way.
"this" one.
Or maybe it is six weeks from Dec. 22, which means you might get the game in February 2010.
I'm not really looking forward to the VH one. Don't get me wrong, I like the band and all, I just don't like them enough to get a game dedicated to them. If the tracklist looks decent for GH5, then I'll probably take advantage of the deal.
Track list is definitely looking decent, imo of course. Best yet I think.
It is a good deal, but having all the Guitar Hero games at sensible prices would be an ever better one.
meh after spending the 100 bucks on both aerosmith and greatest hits they owe me way over 1 game.
not even a decent one, i may get GH5 but if i do its only because they FINALLY! put gorillas im happy on there.
my favorite song.
