When it was first announced that Gran Turismo 5: Prologue would cost $39.99, the naysayers instantly began to say, "I'm not paying forty bucks for a demo!" That was the common refrain.
Well, it seems those people have to eat their own words (and maybe they already have, after caving in and purchasing Prologue ). According to European site PS3Hype , Polyphony Digital has sold nearly 4 million (3,940,000) copies of that lil' ol' demo, which means the franchise has sold a total of 52.7 million units to date. Prologue is essentially the world's biggest "demo," giving you three – and eventually, four – classes to race in with dozens upon dozens of events, and plenty of cars. Since its release, Polyphony has added even more content and as of now, it really is the best $40 you can spend if you're a PlayStation 3 owner. It only shows just how amazing GT5 will be and if all recent evidence is any indication, the long-awaited simulated racer should be available for the holiday rush. We'd also like to think that those who played through Prologue will get a bonus of some kind; perhaps a few extra credits at the start of our career in GT5. We already know about the planned connectivity between GT PSP and GT5, but don't forget about those 4 million lovers of the demo! We want goodies, too…
This only proves that the content itself matters most. If it's worth the price – regardless of what that price may be – gamers will most certainly respond. Now the question is, how many copies of GT5 will they sell…?

14,235,492…then upon becoming a 'greatest hit' add in another couple million
I wonder if everyone that got the demo will get the game. I havn't gotten the "demo" but i sure as hel iwll get the game so i bet this game will sell vigorously.
I'm the same. Don't have the demo but will surely get the game.
I got the demo and I will get the game.
I got Prologue, I played GT HD downloaded from PSN way, way back. And I will definitely get the full game. I like Prologue, but miss the customization/tuning aspect of GT3/GT4. I can't wait for GT5, and of course the PSP version.
I rented it and finished the main 3 classes.
And I will be getting the full game and a 2nd racing wheel.
Vrooooom!
I played the HD Concept demo to death. I passed on Prologue, but will pick up GT 5 day one. I want GT PSP day one also, but not sure I'll have the money for it.
*takes the checkered flag*
I love Prologue! The increases in the number of cars on the track is really beautiful. Right now I'm trying to enjoy the game offline so that i can hone my skills and just enjoy the game.
When GT5 comes out though, I hope to join/create a GT5 league. We at psxe should make one. We could teach and help each other out.
GT5 game needs to have two versions.
I'm DAMN sure that if they release a bundle version with a wheel that will take GT to a whole new level! People will be buying this like hot cakes!
Straight up, I would join that league.
I want to help in the GT5 psxtreme team.
Best demo I've ever played. I thought it was funny that all of the complainers have never heard of the other prologues that had been sold for the previous versions. You can't teach the ignorant.
I remember getting GT5:P the day it came out and I'm pretty positive the same will happen again with GT PSP and GT5. Hopefully this time I don't go insane by the awsome graphics for both games as I did with Pro…. Most likely I will again, especially for GT PSP. Those graphics are bananas. lol.
proud to be one of those 4 million 😀
I didn't bother getting it since everyone was saying it was a demo. It's too late now, guess I'll wait for the big boss.
It's never too late. Go for it!
Thumbs down for saying it's never too late? LOL. That's awesome, dude.
No no no trust us it's never too late!
I played it for the 1st time just 2 months ago and it was saweeeeeeeet.
Red Rock Valley! *clap clap clap clap clap*
Seriously, I'd KILL to see that race track back in GT :*(
Anyone remember it from GT2?
GT2 was just awesome. I remember getting excited for that release.
AHHH. GT2 me and my dad played it a lot. We went through it one time with never buying a car. We hit 32mil bucks and maxed the garage out with only LM cars.
hell yeah wasn't it the desert one!!!????
Yes! That beautiful desert track!
I hope PSXE watches those GT5 numbers closely, I am interested in seeing the explosion, especially versus Failza 3.
Haha Failza 3.
I apologize for going off topic and I'm sure there's going to be some ranting but you reminded me and I thought I would post this link.

Scroll down to Forza Motorsport 2 and read it. No need to comment about it though but I'm sure we're all in agreement with what we would respond with. I just had to laugh a bit. Then, I couldn't stop laughing. Then, I was perturbed.
As for GT5:P, damn. One great demo!
Ow c'mon man we know Gran Turismo beats Forza but there's still millions of people who think Forza is the end all car game.
So we shouldn't call it bad names ^_^
And yeah, I've read too many comments about Forza (specifically) being better than GT that I just can't care anymore 🙁
There's nothing quite like Forza Motorsport 2 on the Xbox 360. A bit like your uncle's backlot garage, Turn 10 Studios' racing sim is full of automotive wonder, if a bit short on atmosphere. This one's all about the car porn; there are more than 300 autos available for your racing (and probably crashing) pleasure. Hop into a Ferrari Enzo if it's production power you crave, or slide right into a true purpose-built racer if you think you can handle it. And with fully customizable and upgradable vehicles, Forza 2 will even let you live your dream of transforming a Buick Regal into an unstoppable racing machine that can beat a BMW across the line.
The physics in Forza 2 are as real as it gets, and that realism can be punishing at times. This is no arcade racer, and simulation fans will get all the brutal truth of the track here. If Turn 10 meets our high expectations when it releases Forza 3 in a couple short months, this recommendation could soon be outdated. But until then, Forza reigns supreme in the land of racing sims on the 360.
If your too lazy to check out the link (like iu was hoping someone else had done this)
had ProL since it first came out, and am in awe of the game. recently I brought GRiD, and I do love that.. GT is a hell of a lot more refined than GRiD that uses a shed load of smoke and mirrors to achieve its end result which is amazing at times.
looking forward to GT4 on the psp too!
I got it and I'm pretty sure I got my money's worth! I'm wondering what they're gonna do w/ prologue once GT5 DOES come out. Will it be free? Who's gonna pay more than $10 bucks for a demo of a game thats out already! Who would pay more than $2 bucks… There gonna have to give it away cause no one is gonna pay for it then.
Mannnn I can't wait to get GT5 and practice drifting with my dad's Toyota Soarer for hours.
And with the Driving Force GT (coz' I can't afford the G25)…..
Oooooh boy!
Hopefully the DFGT goes down in price as well for Christmas.
Is not a demo is a full PSN game stop with the demo crap already wow is annoying as hell. Everyone should by this game is awesome.
how is it not a demo.
it is a demo its a small portion of the full game, last time i checked thats the definition of a demo. where 90 AUD was a total rip off, it was decent my dad walked in and said s*** its like real driving.
thats how good it looks, now only if i had a proper 1080P tv.
i wish prologue had the licenses in it.
there the best part of GT, screw the races i normally just spend my time getting all of my licenses. not that i spend much time playing GT games.
im thinking of getting a steering wheel for GT5 makes the experience much more complete.
but i cant imagine how GT PSP is going to play.
a racing game with 1 nub sounds like a recipe for disaster and a pain in the A$$ to me.
I've been holding $60 of Polyphony Digital's money since 2006…they just need to tell me when/where to drop it off.
after GT2, I never truly liked another GT game. it just lacks the fire and excitment. I much more prefer Burnout series, Need4Speed series and MotorStorm series etc.
Aw OK.
(;_;)
Suckafish.
It wasn't a demo it was just a taster for the greatest racing game ever!!
Man, there was a time where I would get home from work, and fire up Prologue and play online all night… hahaha
Good times!
However, they need to seriously refine the online aspect of it.
All too often, I find, that if you're winning by a large margin, people at the back will just drop out (disconnect). Worst of all, the 'host' can be losing and drop out, which will effectively drop the game for everyone!
Here's hoping that will be fixed in the full version!
i didnt get the demo but 100% will get this game best car game ever
Glad to be a part of the 4 Million, I really just want GT5 for the rally racing basicly. That's my favorite part of the other games.
