2K Boston Hiring For Currently “Unannounced Shooter”

We're anxiously awaiting 2K Marin's Bioshock 2 (now scheduled to be released early next year), but in the meantime, what might 2K Boston be workin' on? That's the million-dollar question, and we've just found the first clue: it be a shooter.

According to GameSpot , 2K Boston president and co-founder Ken Levine wouldn't divulge their new project, but it's clear that they're adding key members to their staff. The studio is currently looking for "a principal combat designer, multiplayer level designer, and level designer for a single mystery game." In viewing these job descriptions, it always says these positions are for the "unannounced shooter," which means everyone is now ready to wonder and speculate. Some believe it may be the long-rumored new entry in the X-COM series, while others say it could be a follow-up to SWAT 4 . If you like, feel free to look over the licenses 2K Boston has at their disposal and see if you can find a worthy candidate. We know a lot of you will complain that there are too many shooters these days, but at least the third-person perspective has successfully come into the limelight to compete with the FPSs. I mean, with the likes of Uncharted and Gears of War bringing down award after award, it's good to see some quality diversity in the "shooter" genre.

So what do you think 2K Boston's new game might be? Right now, we're all focusing on the other 2K shooter we mentioned in the intro, but we always have faith that the 2K studios can produce great stuff.

How original. Is there any reason to believe it is 3rd person?

Shooter? like, the ones with guns and stuff??…
No idea what you talking about…
(seriously, why don't they make a platform game, or something along those lines, then release it as a downloadable, that'd be good.)

SF5 for PS3 will be announced within the next year and many people believe that Sony Bend are already hard a work on eithe the actual game oron concepts for it-which, if true, shoukld please you and me both and a couple of people who said this have been very reliable previously.

Similarly, IIRC, Black2 hjas been asked about directly by a few interviewers talking with higer ups at Criterion this past year and they seem to be at the "neither confirm or deny" stage whereas previously they actually were denying any interest so, again, some hope for you I feel.

This "K ame could be anything right now though but why might they need someone to work on a mystery game IF they're happy to say this is a shooter? Could the word "mystery" not just refer to us having no rurle but also to the kind of game they want to make? Maybe this is the long forgotten game from PS2 days they dubbed "Blair Witch with guns"? You never know and just cos it's a shooter doesn't mean it can't be innovative or good, does it?
