Tony Hawk: Ride Grinds Onto Store Shelves On November 17

The Tony Hawk franchise has been one of the most popular and critically acclaimed in video game history, but it's about to take a big step: no longer will we control those kick-flips and other tricks with our thumbs; this time, we'll do it with our feet .

If you find this idea intriguing, you'll be happy to learn that Tony Hawk: Ride now has an official North American launch date of November 17, according to a recent report by GameSpot . Our European friends will receive it a few days later on November 20 and although Activision didn't announce a price tag for the game, retailer information tells us it should come in at $119.99. That board is described as having "a combination of accelerometers and motion sensors" that will allow it to read the movements of your feet. To enhance the authenticity even further, we'll get the benefit of real-life stars in the game; the likes of Lyn-Z, Paul Rodriguez, Christian Hosoi, Mike Mo Capaldi and Cara Beth Burnside will be featured. The series has garnered a gigantic following of loyal fans over the past decade and really, this is the accessory they've been waiting for. We weren't too impressed when we went hands-on (or feet-on; whatever), but here's hoping the final build will be more responsive and and accurate.

Considering the cost, though, you may have to make a choice between this one and Activision's other major blockbuster for November, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 . The good news for the publisher is that these two games will likely cater to different demographics.

Dear Activision:
Please quit releasing subtle expansions of your existing and crappy titles as new games. Whether it is your movie based trash that sell on the merit of the movies titles, your GH titles that got stupid after…GH2? or your terrible sports releases, we get it, you are out of ideas. Quit insulting us.

Activision may as well convince the developers to call this 'Skater Hero'. I wonder what title of virtual, prepheral-related crap they're going to release next…

…lol realmadpuppy, you just gave me an idea:

'Fishing Hero'! =D

They're going to do riverrafting next. With a full size riverraft add-on for the living room.

Well done Activision! With your penchant for overpricing, moaing about EVERYONE else AND sucking the life out of EVERY franchise you publesh I'd forgotten your favourite wheeze-the crap peripheral!

How soon will this break? How badly will it function? If they couldn't get the guitars to work for more than a week of NOT BEING STOOD on how the hell is this gonna work out?

So many reasons not to buy this even without my desire to never give Acti another penny.

lol, thought this was a 360 only thing the way MS was touting it on stage at E3 (a gimmicky motion/voice controller the only thing they had to show?)

This is a whole stash of cash to spend on what will be a most likely peripheral flop, that probably will only support the one game that it is built for! Could be good for snowboarding but you still cannot lean without falling over. Better to spend your money on a real board and go outside.

Yes, Microsoft painted a lot of things as if they were a) exclusive, and/or b) sprinkled with MS exclusive pixie dust enabling unique motion controls. When in fact things were rarely exclusive and the 'unique' motion controls are essentially the same as PSEye and Eyetoy style interactive control systems, or external 3rd party controllers that work with other consoles. Ooops.

@Yo Bona

Poking fun at those least able to defend themselves isn't very funny, or brave or classy.

Oh the irony of my own post is almost too much….
