You know about E3, GDC, and TGS, but there are other gaming events that are of some significance every year, and one of them is GameCom.
This year's GamesCom will be held in Cologne and runs from August 19 through August 23. If you need a reason to pay attention, you should know that Square-Enix Europe and new business partner Eidos have released their lineups for the anticipated event, and they're pulling out all the stops. In addition to Eidos' contributions of Batman: Arkham Asylum (set for release five days after GamesCom ends) and Mini Ninjas , Square-Enix will be presenting a large number of high-profile titles; it's as if their entire stable of games currently in development will be on display:
Those last few are only published by Square-Enix, but you will certainly recognize the rest. Said Larry Sparks, Vice President of Brand, Square-Enix products:
"This year’s show promises to be unforgettable with world premieres and our most diverse range of titles to date. GamesCom 2009 gives us a great opportunity to share our most exciting upcoming games directly with consumers."
You may remember Square-Enix's purchase of Eidos a little while back, so when we keep saying that S-E and Eidos are part of the same company…well, that's why. Just remember that Eidos still has their projects and S-E still has their projects, so it's not an all-encompassing merger.
No Birth By Sleep?
I was a little disappointed by that too.
Yeah 🙁
i cant wait.
For some reason I'm not that excited about SquareEnix this gen. I wonder if they've rendered themselves irrelevant to PS fans because of their whoring to M$. They've certainly alienated me a bit.
I am kind of with you on this though I would give my left arm to have FFvXIII come out though I notice that it is not surprisingly missing from this list.
Wow coverton that's a pretty generous request since that means we all get to play it…but you would have to play it with only one hand…
=p
No FF Versus XIII ? 🙁

Anyone play the demo for Dissidia yet? I like it a lot. It's not the best fighting game ever made, but it is pretty fun.
"best fighting game ever made" I agree! oh wait …
seriously though, I do love Dissidia (just from playing the demo) it has a HUGE nostalgic factor that may be weighing my opinion on it, but …whatever! It plays like Advent Children …has the best graphics I've ever seen on a handheld …ever. Can't wait to pick it up.
ay least is better than any other SE game released on the 360
Why yes, Barnabe, I HAVE played the Dissidia demo, and here's what I think of it…!
[re-types long paragraphs from conversation we had in another website forum]
…and that's why I've already pre-ordered the game from Amazon!
-Arvis
Psh ..that's cheap Arvis. I wanna hear what you think of the game lol
Hmmm….3 Square Enix articles up today. That's impressive…
Oh and I'm not surprised that FF Versus XIII isn't on this list. Now if it were…this day would have been the best day in this history of gaming.
Or at least…the day we see FF Versus XIII in action would be. PLEASE TOKYO GAME SHOW…PLEASE!!!
I can't wait until they show off more FFXIV. I'm done with trailers and info on XIII , i'm ready to play it already and I don't want anything else to be spoiled, including more gameplay.

i am new to the Final Fantasy searies what is a good game to start with?
I recommend the 3 on the PS1
PS1:
Final Fantasy VII
Final Fantasy VIII
Final Fantasy IX
or if you want somethign more contempary try Final Fantasy X on the PS2
Seems like they're putting on a good show 🙂
For once I agree with the angry man above me.
Yeah I totally agree with that list as well, 100%. But if the graphics of FFVII turn you off give VIII and especially IX a try. I'm going through IX recently and I can't believe how much of a difference there was between early PS1 games and the latter ones. I can't say the same about the PS2 because I loved FFX and XI and I couldn't compare the two in anyway because they are quite different (with XI being online) but XII I did not like at all and was a huge disappointment for me. I'm hoping we see a huge difference between FFXIII and FFXV in the years to come.
will thay run on my 80gb ps3 the one with 4 usb ?
If your ps3 has 4 USB ports and memory card readers you should be able to play PS2 games. All PS3 models play PSOne games.
Yeah I have an 80gb PS3 with b/c and like 3 card readers of some sort …what kind of card readers? Not memory card readers right? That would be crazy, I've had my ps3 for almost 2 years and never knew what those were for (besides using my psp's pro duo)
I think so yeah, new PS3 models cant play PS2 games, they also took out 2 of the USB ports and memory stick slots. So i'm gathering you have one of the older models with supports backwards compatibility 🙂
Crap FF Ver 13 isn't on the list!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:( Oh well, I'm interested in 13!
They leave out the one game everyone wants…
Ohhhh that SE.
