It suffered a bit of delay but now it has a finalized release date, which means the PlayStation Network should get an absolute gem for the second consecutive week.
Last week, Shatter impressed us greatly and now, we have learned that Fat Princess will launch this week; Thursday, July 30. As revealed over at the PlayStation Blog , this highly anticipated downloadable title will retail for $14.99 and will enjoy a simultaneous worldwide release (North America, Europe, and Asia). Japan should have their launch date "in weeks to come." Feel free to view that new interview with Chris Millar and Craig Leigh from Titan Studios; they sit and answer plenty of reader questions and keep you hyped for the game. The PlayStation Network has been home to some of the most unique and innovative titles over the past few years, and Fat Princess is one of those games that has received a surprising amount of hype. We say "surprising" because games in digital formats don't usually board the hype train, but this time around…well, let's just say it's great that we're getting it this week. Let's just hope the politically correct people don't get wind of this; first, they're all upset that females are impossibly depicted in video games and now they're gonna be pissed at the title of this game. You watch.
And yeah, there's a Wipeout HD Fury purchase you'll probably have to consider, too, but look at the bright side: even if you bought all the titles mentioned in this article, it'd still be a darn sight cheaper than a standard full-priced retail game.

Sweet! I put £15 in my psn wallet last week and was gonna buy the Fury pack, glad I didnt now.
I've enjoyed Flower and PixelJunk Monsters, now looking forward to this title 😀
too true, ben, on the PC police! just waiting until this one hits the headlines. people wanting the limelight, bashing video games. this is a definite buy for me this thursday. see you all out there!
Man shatter was cool! What made me not think twice about the game was the 8 buck price tag, if it had been 10 I would have thought about it for a couple of days. It's funny how 2 bucks did that. Maybe if everyone priced their game a 2 dollars cheaper than they were going to then maybe more people would by them. (i just thought shatter looked like a 10 dollar game i don't know really)
Just finished watching the interview. You can create game slots that allow only our friends to team together, and then you can open the game for others to join.
Gather the troops, and stomp some heads! This is gonna be fun!!
Wipeout fury is nice, but harder than Wipeout HD. If you're used to that level of difficulty, prepare to re-learn a little. The new game modes are a lot of fun. I need to take it online and see how humans compare to the AI I'm playing against now. Lots more action, really extending the game. It's cool. They need to do a BD release of Wipeout HD with Fury included.
Thinking hard about the princess with an alternative body image…possible purchase…

Harder then WipeOut HD? Really? Wow I though HD was pretty difficult. The novice AI was brutal at times. In fact, there were two circuits I couldn't complete.
As far as Fat Princess, I'll be downloading Thursday. I've been looking forward to this for a while now.
Great News! Been waiting for this one for months.
If anybody wants to play online, my PSN is: Jayda_T

Jayda_T? That sounds like a girl's name…
Is "King James" actually a female!? And if so, are you offended more by Fat Princess, or Dead or Alive?
-Arvis
How does Jay…"da"…T sound female?
I'm not offended by much. But I do get annoyed easily by ppl asking me if I am offended.
How does the name "Jayda" NOT sound female, I ask??
-Arvis
lol. "Da" as in "the".
For instance: Da fool 'round da corner got chased by da cops da other day.
FINALLY!!! This was one of my most anticipated games of 2009 and it's finally on its way!
I've been on the fence with "Fat Princess". It looks good but I'm not sure if I myself would find it fun. For this reason alone, I hope Sony releases a demo for it (a demo for "Shatter" would be great, too). I've wasted too much money the last couple months on PSN games that didn't have demos and ended up being crappy (I'm looking at you, Punisher). Sony needs to start releasing demos or else I'm going to have to pass on what may or may not be a great game.
15 bux!? Ouch.
Will it have an offline split sceen or online split screen? Aka will I be able to play with my body on the same TV? There are conflicting information on the web regarding this…
"Fat Princess Weighing In This Week"
Awesome headline, Ben.
