Gearbox “Extremely Committed” To Aliens: Colonial Marines

It may be taking a little longer than expected, but Gearbox Software swears that it will still assault store shelves at some point in the near (hopefully) future.

Gearbox boss Randy Pitchford gave an update on Aliens: Colonial Marines to CVG , and he says there are "great things afoot." This is in response to several rumors that hinted at the cancellation of this project, and Sega recently confirmed we wouldn't see it before Aliens vs. Predator dropped early next year. Colonial Marines has been in development for quite some time, but Pitchford is aware of possible fan frustration; heck, he's a little anxious himself:

"I know that there hasn't been much talk about what we're doing for awhile and that more details would be very juicy. Like so many people, I've been patient for years to finally be able to play this game and now that I'm actually involved in the creation of it I can tell you that it's extremely challenging to continue to be patient as it develops.

I want to tell all! But I can't. But I can say that we are working hard and that there are great things afoot and I know that when the time is right, Sega will be excited to share more details about the game. Until that time, I guess the only thing anyone can do is just keep pressuring Gearbox and Sega to spill more beans. Maybe one of us will eventually crack."

Pitchford goes on to say he's "extremely committed" to making this game and he asks the fans to be as patient as possible. We could certainly use a great game based on the legendary sci-fi movie series, as many will say we haven't had a decent Aliens title in years. Anybody remember Aliens vs. Predator for the Jaguar? That was pretty sweet. Let's just hope Aliens: Colonial Marines will be worth the wait; we'll provide you with more updates if either Sega or Gearbox "cracks" in the near future.
