With God of War III and Gran Turismo 5 dropping some time early next year, Sony is banking on the stellar Uncharted 2: Among Thieves to move a lot of PlayStation 3 machines this holiday season.
We still don't have an official release date from Naughty Dog, but two sources are now saying it'll become available on September 30. According to GamingIndians , French site PS3 Gen cited a leaked Sony release schedule that proved Drake's new adventure would hit at the end of September. Furthermore, there was "mention of a Michael Jackson SingStar game," which would be the title we had heard about just before the King of Pop's untimely death. GamingIndians.com says another source collaborated this information and it's "extremely reliable," so hopefully, Uncharted 2 may get here a little sooner than expected; prior to this, most were anticipating a November launch date. Now, all we need is info on that new gameplay demo that's coming… Oh, and let's not forget that another rumor concerning a Madonna SingStar title has also arisen; wouldn't it make perfect sense to release both new SingStar games right next to each other? After all, MJ and Madonna basically defined an entire decade. Actually, if you really think about it, maybe both stars would be in the same special edition of the game, specifically designed for '80s buffs.
Well, anyway, we're most excited about Among Thieves , just because it remains atop our lengthy "most wanted" list for 2009. Really, if there's another game out there that holds more promise, we're not aware of it.
Related Game(s): Uncharted 2: Among Thieves
cool september would be great! uncharted 2 looks brilliant
I am really excited for uncharted 2, i don't think i will buy that singstar, i could just buy the songs i like off the sing star store…haha say that 5 times fast, sing star store, sing star store, sing star store, sing star store, sing star store xD
Make sure you don't spend more on the SingStore than you would on the games….it adds up.
sept. 30th feels a tad too early for me but will gladly accept uncharted 2 if it does come out then. mj singstar is a must buy for me. correct me if i'm wrong but isn't it sony that owns the rights to his music? i heard he had a ton of unpublished stuff – think if that made it's way to singstar in the future.
as for madonna, i'll pass on that one (but will no doubt download "like a virgin" some drunken saturday night with my mates….)

Sept 30 actually sounds perfect, imo. It will be the one huge game that carries us into the holiday season. After Modern Warfare 2 hits nobody is going to be talking about anything else, so they should get Uncharted 2 out early enough to generate some serious hype.
yeah forgot about that modern warfare blip on the radar….
Maybe when they reskin it with WW2 era stuff, rename it to World at War 2, maybe…I'll be interested. Maybe.
I know now that GT5 is coming next year 🙁

Maybe not…..don't lose hope just yet.
GT PSP is coming in October (confirmed) and don't forget Polyphony Digital has said before that GT5 is ready to go whenever they want to release it.
So if the PSP and the PS3 versions of GT want to play nice……GT5 could be this year.
Bite your tongue! All of you! There's not been ANY release date for GT5, confirmed or denied from any official spokesman of Sony or Polyphony Digital. Until that time, or until Amar @ GTplanet gives us another morsel to gnaw on. The launch date is between 120109-033110. I will hear no more of this 'next year' business with GT!!!!
I'm am STILL predicting a December launch timeframe. Jan-March has too much going on for it to release easily then.
Beyond that, think of a GT5:M + PSP Bundle, and a GT5 + PS3 Slim Bundle, going live on shelves for this holiday season…mmmm. Makes me think naughty things.
That's the spirit .
SingStar the King of Pop (MJ) edition, and Singstar the Queen of Pop (Madge) edition? They would fit very nicely with the Abba and Queen special editions.
I love playing "what if"…so….What if the MJ version includes a facility for the PSEye to monitor your moves during your song, and award extra points if you can pull off the dance movies of MJ? Kind of a forerunner to the enhanced motion tech that Sony is toying with? Singstar already accepts voice commands, it almost seems like it's a bit of a tech demonstrator.
Interesting. Doesn't Sony own p0art or all of the publishing rights to MJs back catalog?
As for Uncharted 2, if it can arrive by the start of October, it will be a good thing. Very good.
As for GT, I foresee a November/December launch in Japan, perhaps with a 3 month delay before the European and NA versions arrive in stores. I could be wrong, it could be simultaneous, but in the past it's always been staggered.
Nooooooooooooooooo! It'll be simultaneous! 😉 Hehe….oh yeah, sorry Ben, on topic, absolutely can't wait for Uncharted 2 (I actually started typing GT there….god I'm obsessed), will be a preorder for me. Platinum'd the 1st one 3 times, so I should be well equipped for the 2nd.
The MP portion…meh, we'll see, they need more game modes, for one. And I don't know, maybe it's just not my thing, it seemed fun…but, does it have that longevity factor? The SP does, no doubt about that. But…we'll have to see on the MP (I've beta tested in it for several months now.)
Not interested in Singstar tho. Hope it's fun for everyone else.
i thought the beta testing was done with?? i tried launching it a couple weeks ago and nothing happened so, i uninstalled it…
but, if there's more maps and modes than TDM and that plunder mode, it could do well… if that's all they are offering though, it might not last as long as other MP games… the co-op is a nice addition as well but, that can wear thin eventually too if there's only that one mission…
we'll see what they have to offer in september then!! yipee!!
@bOnes
Unless I'm missing something, Naughty Dog's focus is on the single player game, with the multi-player there more as a bonus and not as a core element to the game.
yea i know that… i just thought i'd comment on the online stuff… of course it's all about the signle player experience… i'm just talking about the possibly longevity of the multiplayer modes…
I really hate it when people milk money off of a dead person. They are taking advantage of the fans that long the MJ songs so much. They should donate all profit of the game to charity as a sign of respect.
Actually MJ had contracts in place that would ensure the back catalog of his music and all the other rights he owned would generate income for his kids and help pay off the debts he'd accumulated. So Sony wouldn't really be taking advantage, they'd simply be following through with his wishes.

Anyone else think Singstar has had terrible post-launch DLC since it came out last year? Sure there were a few face lifts and changes over the last few months, but out of the 400 or so tracks they've added, I recognize barely half of 'em – most seem to be leftovers from the European version. And I've bought maybe 10 songs since. What happened to the promise of more recognizably American tunes? That clearly hasn't panned out…
Seriously, stuff like Michael Jackson and other big pop icons should have been there at the start. The strength of any karaoke game is the innumerable number of *recognizable* songs that at least some people will know the lyrics to, and that's the one thing holding the game back. Otherwise I love Singstar 🙂
I think you're exaggerating – a little. I'll agree that there have been some incredibly odd music choices offered up in the US via the SingStore. But it hasn't been *that* bad. There are US artists there, Billy Joel has a decent number of tracks for example.
I guess it depends on your age and taste in music. A lot of what has been made available is 80's Pop. As for odd choices, how many Americans even know who Chas and Dave are, let along understand the lyrics to Rabbit. LOL!
I do agree with your sentiment though, there are a fairly large number of niche interest European acts that have had releases in the US SingStore. Groups singing in Swedish, or Finnish, or some other little spoken European language. It's not so much that I'm objecting to their inclusion, it's simply that more effort could go into bringing more US centric contemporary artists. Hells Bells, bring some Elvis at least!
One thing to remember though is that when London Studios is working on new tracks for inclusion in Europe. Once they're done if the rights in the US are also available, why not put the track up in the SingStore? Either London Studio needs to spend more time working on music for NA, or Sony USA needs to create a local team of folks working on Singstar tracks for the NA market. It would help the game greatly if there were more current US artists and classic US artists available.
i'm not going to front. an mj singstar would be a day one purchase from me.
Amen to that.
About time, i'm really disappointed that there's no latest news about WKC. It seems that WKC will be released next year. Uncharted 2 and Assassins Creed 2 are my next highly anticipated games for the rest of 2009.
They'll definitely extend or put the "Uncharted 2" space in Home. Hopefully in can be integrated with the game like bonuses and such.
this is a clear indication that GT5 would release this year. sony is launching U2 earliert than expected so that it does not get consumed by the appearance of GT5.
wana bet? try me.

I don't know about the whole "move a lot of PS3 machines" comment. There is no doubt Uncharted 2 will be awesome but won't that big '2' on the end scare people away? Won't they want to play the first one first? At 55 per game plus 400 for the system, I'm thinking it's not going to move too many PS3s. Drop the first Uncharted to 20 or 30 and then maybe we'll see some movement.
a MJ singstar would rock. Absolutely rock. Would easily be a million seller, AND a Sony exclusive. Something tells me that PS3 owners, due to their age (its been proven that PS3 owners are older) would get more enjoyment out of MJ music. Make it happen, Sony.
