Next week is going to be a big one for the PlayStation Network. Up until July 22, you can snag several top downloadable titles at a discounted price , and now we hear about a demo for Dissidia: Final Fantasy and an expansion for Wipeout HD .
You should check out the latest episode of Pulse on the PSN, which is where you'll find evidence of that Dissidia demo. It seems it will become available for playing on Thursday, July 23, and that's great news for those who have been anxiously anticipating the Final Fantasy -based fighter. We've also heard the game offers over 40 hours of gameplay, which means it must be more involved than simply flying around the screen, hacking until your fingers fall off. …right? Secondly, Wipeout HD programmer Zico Liu posted details at both the European and American PlayStation Blog concerning the new Fury expansion. This will also be available on Thursday for the price of $9.99, and we will receive no less than three new race types: Eliminator, Zone Battle, and Detonator. We will also get 12 new tracks, 13 new ships, 6 new music tracks, a redesigned menu system, a bunch of new Trophies, and a whole new Campaign to attempt and conquer. If you haven't experienced the beautiful fluidity of Wipeout HD in a while, this is your excuse to get involved once again. In our opinion, it remains the most technically accomplished title on the PlayStation Network.
We recently did an editorial about how the Network has rapidly caught up to Xbox Live in a variety of different ways, and when we see more content like this, we feel more vindicated in our belief.

Hopefully this update will attract more people to the online portion of the game. It's been a little….empty.
Dissidia demo, SWEET!
Here's hoping the battle system doesn't suck…

I like that they kept the "numbered damage" pop-ups, even in fighter-style gameplay.
Me too. 🙂
