EA Clarifies: Two Separate Demos For Madden NFL 10

We're less than a month away from the launch of Madden NFL 10 , which means EA is already gearing up for the inevitable mania.

As announced over at the official Madden site , there will be two separate playable demos available for the hotly anticipated football simulator. Both will come to the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live Marketplace, and your first chance to get an early taste of Madden NFL 10 will come on July 23: if you pre-order your copy from GameStop, you will gain access "to an exclusive demo featuring a Super Bowl XLIII rematch between the Pittsburgh Steelers and Arizona Cardinals with 5 minute quarters." Now, as a matter of clarification, this is not the same demo that will be available to all on July 30; that one will boast a night game in a snowstorm between the Dallas Cowboys and New York Giants. Obviously, EA wants to showcase their considerable ability to provide us with authentic and dazzling visuals, and we're convinced it'll be pretty darn impressive. Also, you can bet on your local GameStop offering a midnight launch for Madden NFL 10 when August 14 rolls around. If you're a true franchise follower, you'll be standing in line a good hour before midnight, right?

We really like the idea of two distinct demos for the game, though. It actually gives us more of an incentive to pre-order the game; that incentive isn't as evident when we only gain access to the same demo a week or two early.  We wanna play both.

Have fun with Romo, I did my undergrad at Eastern and he's always been a no talent tool.

As a Redskins fan, far be it for me to defend Romo, but a "no talent tool" cannot even get a job as a backup in the NFL, never mind a starter.

That said, I'm kinda glad Romo is starting in Dallas…. 😉

LOL, perhaps, it depends on how it plays, and for that matter how you play. I'm a franchise mode/Coach mode junkie. My reaction times long ago degraded to ordinary so directly controlling players is frustrating and a losing experience….

Let me know, Highlander. I would prefer to have NFC East players in my online franchise that I know.

I bought Madden 09 just because of the online Franchises, and I was never even able to get into one. It kept saying it was either full, or not accepting entries. For months and months and months and months I tried to join one, and never ever got in.

Why?

If you make one, King James, will I be able to join it?

Is there a Texas rivalry brewing here? I will take the Texans who will be able to do this year what the Cowboys have failed to do in 13 years (get a playoff victory!) 🙂

Well Arvis, I think you're referring to the online season. Madden never had online franchises.

IDK how the online franchises will operate but if its possible I have no problem with you joining. You're in North America, right? What team would you want?

@Frenchy

Yea, now I no thats an online franchise challenge.

And your Texans won't make it to the divisional playoffs this season. You need an offensive line for that.

Also… what exactly is the difference between online Franchise mode… and what Madden 09 had? I could have sworn Madden 09 had online franchises…

Well Arvis I didn't get 2009 because I was on Madden strike after that horrible 2008 PS3 version. But I believe Madden 09 had online "season" meaning:

-only 17 weeks with 32 teams.
-But no playoffs, no trades, no free agents, no team management, and no multiple seasons, etc.

@ Limited Vertigo, to say that romo is a "no-talent tool" is ridiculous.

No offense to T.O. cus the guy can play football, but Romo as much talent as he did showcase over the past couple years, should have a much better year this year now that T.O. isn't asking for the ball every down. Roy Williams is an exceptional player as well so dont come back with now that T.O. is gone Romo has no one to throw to either. and Witten well i dont think i need to say anything bout him!

I could care less. Madden 09 was supposed to be great, and I hated it. It locked up my PS3 anytime I tried to play more than one game in a sitting until EA issued a patch – and then I didn't care anymore.

The Madden glory days are long gone…

This madden supposedly heralds the return of the rich and deep gameplay in Franchise mode that was the hallmark of the game for years before the 360/PS3 versions stank it up.

Apparently it also brings the return of Coach Mode, so those who prefer to be coach and let the players play can once again build a dynasty in Madden. Hopefully the new enhanced in-game presentation and what not will make this worthwhile instead of simply being a re-tread of Madden '08 from the PS2.

Doesn't EA proclaim that every Madden version heralds the return of something? And every year, aren't we disappointed?

no not every year just from 2006 to now. I'm back on the Madden bandwagon now that they finally have online franchise mode.

Vikings man myself, and going to laugh so much when they announce Favre as our QB (He has been spotted buying a condo here in metro area)

Let me ask you, as a Vikings fan, are you happy for the Favre to be with your team? I'm not sure I would want him as a starter, and he doesn't seem able to accept a mentor role.

Anyway, I'll just declare now I think that when you retire and tell everyone you retired (two years in a row), you should stay blankety blank well retired.

After Michael Jordan came back both times though he was still on top of his game(second time kind of), Farve on the other hand looks done and finished.

Well, no he's old and kinda busted and I don't respect his waffling, but the simple fact that it is going to stick in Wisconsin's collective craw makes me smile. The Vikes are a funny team to follow, they constantly screw themselves even when they have a great team.

@ thehighlander, you had to rbing Favre into this, bad choice my friend.

As a packers fan i hate to see him play for the vikings, but as a football fan Favre is a hall of famer who can still play and deserves his shot at another ring as much as any other player.

Second Favre retired from the packers basically because he was being pushed out. The packers had drafted Rodgers and decided the Favre era was done. Why do you think they didn't pick up moss when Favre asked? Because they were planning on moving on.

Retiring from the Jets was an easy choice because he got injured at the end of the year, and had to go through surgery. The vikings came to him and through recovery has decided to play this year.

If the man wants to play let him play who r u guys to say he should stay retired. I'd like to see any one of us on this site play 18 straight yrs as a QB and still want to play, he should be getting praise, the man is LEGEND!

@ worldendswithme, the vikings dont have a great team they have great players to build around. There D is exceptional, and they have an awesome RB, and a #1 reciever in Bernard Berrian but the simple fact is, they have no QB to hand the ball to peterson and no QB to throw the ball too berrian. Dont get me wrong they have good players, but they need a QB, and they realize that with bringing Favre in.

Since i live in dallas/fort worth metroplex this demo would be awesome to see how they represent the new dallas cowboy stadium.

Well i hope its a dallas home game other wise ill be sad. but for you romo haters, there is no need to hate cuz he always fucks up anyway lol but things might change since he finally broke up with Jessica Simpson.

Probably not dallas fucks up period. dallas mavericks dallas cowboys dallas stars texas rangers and Jermery warnier cuz he from the area too lol

As a Steelers fan I would prefer the Super Bowl re-match demo but I never pre-order games so that's not happening. Oh well it's no big deal, I'll be playing with the Steelers in the full game soon enough. I'm looking forward to this Madden and it will probably be the first one I buy this generation. Someone said they are putting coach mode in the game… Is this like the coach modes of previous Maddens or will they be integrating the Head Coach game into Madden as a separate mode?

TheHighlander
TheHighlander

It's like the coach mode from the previous Madden games on PS2(for example. So you call the plays, but you don't have to control the QB to execute them, the QB is under the control of the console.

I hated the Head Coach game. I've been reading the EA development team's (Madden) blog entries and Coach Mode was specifically mentioned.

@TheHighlander

I see, well at least I can play the games now without having to control the players. I just play franchise mode in Madden and mostly sim the games so I can focus on drafting, signing, trading, etc.

I actually thought the second HC game was decent. It's pretty cool taking the role as HC, having full control of a franchise and trying to be the next Chuck Noll and build a dynasty. The game definitely had its issues though so I can understand why you didn't like it.

HEad Coach was frustrating because I'm a franchise mode junkie too, it should have been perfect, but it was far from it. The level of decision making was too close to the turf for me, I felt like I was being asked to decide on the player's breakfasts. The absolute worst thing was that when I played an actual football game, the biggest decisions that the game asked me to make was whether or not to 'emote' after a huge play or incident.

Not for me at all.

Hey Ben I believe your 49ers are going to the superbowl against my Steelers in SB44. I predicted that it was gonna be My Steelers and Cardinals for superbowl 42 but it happen this past February lmaol! I believe that Singletary is going to turn them around drastically this upcoming season. I go with this prediction because it is always a team from the NFC West who plays my Steelers in the Superbowl Now-a-days!

I only have a college team (Razorbacks) to root for. D Mac joining the Raiders isn't enough to make me root for them.
