Role-playing fans will always smile at the mention of "Suikoden," as it usually brings back tons of pleasant memories from the PS1 and PS2 days.
The original was woefully underrated by critics – GameSpot should burn for that score – but RPG fans adored it, and each and every installment since then (with the exception of Suikoden IV ) have really delivered for fans of the genre, which is why we're all kinds of excited about seeing Konami trademark a new Suikoden title . Personally, I've been waiting for a new entry in the franchise since Suikoden V ; this series always gives us fantastic storylines, great characters, and a turn-based style of combat that just never got old. Of course, we get the feeling that if this new project is indeed for consoles, there's little chance it will be true turn-based, as that mechanic appears to be extinct. But we imagine the story should once again be well worth seeing, and remember, all previous iterations have been exclusive to the PlayStation brand. Granted, we're in a new generation now – one that is quick to kill off third-party exclusivity – but we'd like to believe Konami should know exactly where their supporting fans are…yeah, they're very likely on the PlayStation side of things. So don't forget about us!
But really, we just want Suikoden VI for next-gen consoles. Next to Final Fantasy , it's my favorite all-time RPG franchise and I had better get another awesome title! I'm not demanding or anything… 😉
Oh man! I hope this to be true. My favourite was 3 but 5 was also good. I've been waiting for more of the true Runes.
Despite a lot of people hating it, I sort of liked the Trinity Sight system. It was fun playing the game in the other MC's perspective.
I hope they don't bring back the incredibly boring sailing of Suikoden 4…
That would be beautiful…
My second favorite too! I've been waiting for this for what seems like ages and well call me crazy but I didn't think SuikoIV was bad at all… just a tad bland, but better than a lot of what's out there.
Sweet can't wait.
It should surface, because Konami has teams that stick with their series, such as:
Castlevania
Katamari
MGS
Suikoden
Ace Combat
Etc.
Konami didn't do Katamari and Ace Combat. That was NamcoBandai.
Imagine? Suikoden VI with turn-based combat? Konami! Do it!
Believe.
That would be siiiic. Just send it.. ok?… send it
Why does everyone hate Suikoden IV? I thought it was waaaay better than Suikoden III.
Ummm…..Yes Please !!
Playing Suikoden just makes me happy, exploring your castle/headquarters that keeps expanding is just awesome. Please make more sub-bosses or secret dungeons or secret enemies because all those 100 something characters are just screaming…USE ME !! Can't wait what new features they're gonna implement. Lastly, can I please use Leknaat already ? I'm sure she's a very powerfull magician. Suikoden FTW !
Suikoden 1 & 2 were great, already starting Suikoden 3, I hope Suikoden 6 comes to the states before 2012
This would be awesome.. I hope details will come soon.
I'm with you all as well I've been waiting to hear something about the next suikoden game. After final fantasy, Suikoden was the next rpg i've ever played. I own them all so far. 1,2,3,4 and 5.
I'm with Lenoxseer and WorldEndsWithMe. I didn't think it was that bad but it was alittle bland. The same Suikoden concepts still applied. One thing that they changed was the number off members you could have in battle which i will say made it feel somewhat foreign to the other title.
Damn!! This is great news! I've been waiting badly for a new Suikoden game! Same as Ben, Suikoden is my 2nd most favorite all-time rpg franchise behind Final Fantasy.
Didn't buy 5 after the disappointing 4.This game should be a PS3 exclusive,if not then it's another bad idea buy a Japanese dev to put an RPG on a console that does not have a fanbase for the genre.
5 is great tho. Back to 6 players on the field.

Excellent news (maybe?).
I've only played Suikoden III (and I didn't finish it), but I enjoyed what I played.
I was also tempted to buy Suikoden Tactics, but it didn't get strong reviews.
A turn-based mechanic with a little "next-gen" gloss (so that, for instance, the action is fluid, but pauses when each turn comes, instead of having the characters bounce in place) would be much appreciated.
Throw in improved tactical considerations like relative position and facing and it would really be a winner.
Suikoden Tactics SUCKED. I found it for $10 and thought "How bad could it be?" Well, it wasn't worth my $10.

I LOVE Suikoden! WHEN they make 6, I hope they put all their brain-power to the battle systems! Like remember2, the 3 6person teams to fight Luca Blight?! Ha, everyone cries about4, but the final boss battle makes it all worth playing… crazy tree-thing, anywayz, Give us more Dragons! Geez, c'mon Konami hurry-up I don't know if I can wait much longer for a good RPG on PS3, they've all turned to 'action RPGs' (xcept good'ol Disgaea)
WOW AT FREAKIN LAST! Ive loved these games ever since i first played on them, i love 1 n 2 i downloaded 1 on my ps3 (still waiting for them to do 2) My g/f got really into them as well and we waited ages for 5 and really enjoyed it and now we are waiting for 6…and waiting it seems, FF13 is quite a dissapointment…its boring confusing and "action rpg" basicly 3 years of waiting for a let down. Suikoden always puts magic in its RPGs and always has a good story…4 was abit meh and non of the new mini games are a match for the cooking game in 2 …damn im all excited now! BRING IT ON! want a massive castle loads of towns and 108 people that can all fight. Have extras for support 😛
Arvis – …yeah i have to agree it was abit poor i mean i like the vandal hearts stratigy but the fish people thing was lame and the er the heros mother was a goat? wassat about? X_x
