Okay, but before we begin, just get the idea of a Final Fantasy VII remake out of your heads. Seriously. That's not what this is.
But the million-dollar question is: what is it? Square-Enix is counting down to a new game announcement and as you can see, there are just over 227 hours left to wait. There's also a number 4 and a hand-drawn scene that appears to be a quaint natural landscape with a river or stream running down the middle. This leads us to believe it's another RPG, but it's the "4" that is causing problems for those who wish to hazard a guess. What has Square-Enix made three of…? We've been waiting for Kingdom Hearts 3 and we're pretty certain we didn't miss it, they never did any sequels to certain IPs like Vagrant Story , and even if Legend of Mana could be considered a loose sequel to Secret of Mana , there were still only two such titles. It really can't be Final Fantasy , of course…unless it's Final Fantasy Tactics . Technically, we had the original on the PlayStation, the one for the GBA, and the remake of the original for the PSP, The Lion War . So that's kinda three. Anyone else have any ideas as to what it could be? What is Square-Enix working on that would have a "4" in the title?
Well, we've got about nine and a half days to wait, so get your thinking caps on. It could very well be a game for the DS or Wii or something, which means if it's revealed, we won't be telling you about it here. But let's just hope it comes to a Sony platform, whatever it turns out to be.
final fantasy vii remake
Dude…seriously…dude….no

@WorldEnds
lol
Hopefully not
Want NEW rpgs
how are you so sure it is not final fantasy vii remake
Why does it have to be a remake? Why can't they just continue the story?
Would they go and get something from their back catalog of the Square or Enix days?
Did they ever have a 4th in the Torneko series after "Dragon Quest Characters: Torneko no DaibÅken 3 – Fushigi no Dungeon"?

It's a launch title for the Playstation 4!!
Yeah right, if that were true, I would punch both Squenix AND Sony.
-Arvis
…or maybe the fourth title in the Fabula Nova Crystalis saga?
-Arvis
that's very probable
With the style of the picture and the number 4, maybe S-E is thinking about starting up the Romancing SaGa series. Unless Unlimited SaGa can be considered as the third entry of the SaGa Frontier series, maybe its a 4th entry in SaGa Frontier series.
SE already announced another SaGa game called Goddess of Destiny for the DS.
it's the music that throws me off. Sounds really old but familiar. I kinda want to say Chrono series but there were only two.
Although, that could just be something to throw us off.
Eidos is owned by Square Enix, and apparently Eidos Montreal is working on Thief 4. Could be that but not likely.
nm Thief 4 is independently being published.
I'm not getting any sound ><
turn up the volume. it's REALLY faint.
Maybe it's not a sequal but a whole new IP. It either has a 4 or "for" in the name or they are just trying to throw us off
Actually there have been three Tactics games right? The original, and the two for the DS?
Or like Arivs pointed out already, 13, 13VS, and Agito make up three titles, so it could very well be another Fabula Nova Crystalis title.
Maybe it has to do with the Four Warriors of Light in Final Fantasy?
Final fantasy 4?(remake)…
i was thinking that too…
They already made an FFIV remake for the DS.
… and the PS One, and the GBA. Maybe they will remake it again for the PSP?
I have the DS version btw. It's pretty good.
And theres a FF4: After Years
I'm guessing a typical multiplatform game.
super mario galaxy 4. pwnt
They need to stop making so many damn games, and focus on making GOOD games.
and one for the Ps3

Ya know what they say "Cant make good Make More" (AKA the Activision plan)
Actually i have an ideal what theyre up to.
Ya see theyre still in stage 1 where they just make a lot of crappy games to get people used to them so after awhile they seem good.
Stage 2 After theyve completed sttage 1 theyll make a remake of ever final fantasy using Natal, Sonys Motion sensing controller and Wii Motion plus. For 360 they get 2 remakes Final Fantasy 4 and Dirge of Cerberus remakes. Then using Natal and hypnotic suggestion to force people to purchase the limited addition Cecil dark Knight armor and Vincent Death Penalty for 499.00 apecie for "More Percise feel" .Next the PS3 will get a Final Fantasy 7 remake and be forced buy the Buster Sword Attachment for the Playstation "Wand" a modest 400.00 because lets face it who wouldnt like to be Cloud. For the Wii they have a life Size Final Fantasy 6 Magiteck Armor controlled with the Wii motion plus from the real cockpit at 1299.00 of course.
Stage 3 WORLD DOMINATION you see Square Enix built up the Warchess with all the "useless" accessories to buy every game developer/Publisher. Then flinally it happens. At 12:00 am all heck brakes loose as the true hynotic suggestion begins to take effect. 360 owners dawn tthe dark knight armor and Death Penalty . Long hours with the armor and gun have given them superhuman jumping abilty able to leap tall buildings in a single bound ans shoot a fly of a tree at the top of a mountain with pinpoint accuracy. PS3 owners will be able to use the buster sword accessory to claeve building in half with 1 blow and rend the earth asunder with theyre mighty blade. The Wii owners will hop into theyre Magitek armor and begin to use it to burn, freeze, and shock the non faithful. Wada With his army of brainwashed minions built up he starts to march from one side of the world to the other slowy destroying everything in his path as he becomes Emperor of the the New World Order the Square Enix Emipre.
Well conspiracy theory time is over back to FF7 hope that buster sword Attachment comes out soon.

Overlord Zero…. that was amazing. 😀

"even if Legend of Mana could be considered a loose sequel to Secret of Mana, there were still only two such titles"
Actually, there have been 9 games in the Seiken Densetsu series, though not all of them made it outside of Japan and some of them were just spin-offs. But anyway, we've already seen a proper Seiken Densetsu 4, which was called Dawn of Mana in the US.
Well, there's a good chance I'm completely wrong, but isn't a 4th 'Fullmetal Alchemist' due, or are they done making console games for that series? (I haven't really followed it very closely)

Actually another Full Metal Alchemist is in production, as far as I can tell. I'm pretty sure it's on the Japanese site.
Guys they are obviously in bed with Microsoft and now they are making Halo 4
lol
ha!….halo 4 now thats an idea!(lol)
could they be 4 different games that they are doing?
SQUARE STOP releasing more games AND GIVE ME MY FF 13 already
Misdirection and Gorilla Dust! As much as I'd like it to be something epic, it'll probly be another handheld title. Or maybe they will remake the wrong game (not FFVII) and put FFIV in next gen graphics.
But I don't think it has anything to do with FF. The 4 probably means after the 9 days is up a new site will come up with a new countdown and a 3 after it.
I would dropkick all of their groins if they do that…
-Arvis
Could be a new Valkyrie Profile game since we've seen three of them. 1,2, and covenant of the plume.
Hmm, very good possibility.
Hopefully
just throwing ideas out there.
Final Fantasy IV remake for PSP.
A forth Final Fantasy Tactics game, if count FFT on PSOne, FFT Advance on GBA and FFT A2 for DS.
The main character in FFT A2 had a guest role in the remake and enchanted version of the original in FFT: the Lion's War on PSP.
Or it could be some dissapointing as an FFXaddtitlehereIII DS version.
Master Chief with a 40' foot sword and spiky hair baby!
It's a double count down. Once the timer runs down, the 4 will turn to a 3 then begin a new countdown and etc.
How about;
FFVII original (1)
FFVII Dirge of Cerberus (2)
FFVII Crisis Core (3)
FFVII PS3 Remake (4)
Yeah? Thoughts, anyone?
Now that is probably most likely knowing the way people love to mess with us gamers through countdowns (Kojima)
Before Crisis (5). i hope you are right though ^_^
hey no idea stealing 😉
Even more fuel to that fire… If it's in chronological (misspell perhaps?) order then…
FFVII crisis core – prequel
FFVII – 1
FFVII Advent Children – 2
FFVII Dirge of Cerberus – 3
? FFVII 2 – 4 ?
