It was announced at Sony's E3 press conference earlier this month, but we only received some baseline information along with the fact that it will be a PlayStation 3 exclusive.
In a recent Eurogamer interview with Take-Two CEO Ben Feder, we get a few more details concerning the "spiritual successor" to their acclaimed Grand Theft Auto franchise. The comparisons are almost inevitable, but Feder wanted to make it clear that Agent will be "very fresh for gamers." As he said:
"It's a completely different storyline, there is completely different character development. It's a game about espionage, set in the 1970s. GTA is obviously more about an urban experience, a typically rags to riches experience. Very, very different storylines, very different character development. It's going to be very fresh for gamers."
He also briefly addressed the reason why Agent is a PS3 exclusive; he said "it's important when you're launching a new franchise to make sure you have the right support." …and apparently, Sony gives the right support, despite their evident refusal to bring that GTAIV DLC to the PS3. Feder said they "don't talk about that" in the interview, so take from that what you will. As it stands, Agent is a game about espionage set in the 1970s, and yes, it will certainly be different than GTA. Stay tuned for more.

Activision should learn from Take-Two

Ya same here, when everyone was going crazy for it i wasn't really that interested in it. Which is probally because i was little and was playing Spyro and Ratchet and clank (not that there is anything wrong with that)
I'm very curious to hear more about Agent. The interview B.Feder had with Eurogamer has definitely increased my interest in the game. Based on Feder's responses to the questions about Agent, it sounds like it will be an open world game. Just how would espionage gameplay fit into that open world play?
Looking forward to more developments.
Man I want a few details. "Agent" and "espionage" makes me think of MGS type stealth, but I get the feeling this will be open world. Tease us with some real info guys! And why don't they just come out and tell the truth about why it's exclusive, this will be a game that you can't squeeze onto a DVD9 and run on crappy hardware.
Yep.
I want to hear more also…not sure what to make of this game. At one point I tought it was online only?
"this will be a game that you can't squeeze onto a DVD9 and run on crappy hardware."
Yaaawwn.
@timster118
I think you're refering to the Agency, which is a different game. I think it's a spy MMO made by SOE.
@questing222
Sounds like you are sleepy, you should go take a nap some where.
@ quest, how much crappy hardware have you had to send back in a coffin? Not that I expect you to answer truthfully, but you should think about it, and the name behind the tech. At any rate, it was just a little gag, grow up.

No no, it's no gag. That's straight up truth.
a gag based in reality then, as most good jokes are. 😉
too true, too true
We want details now come on guys tell us what its about at least. 🙂
VERY curious about this game, but thats all for now, just curious
Wonder if this one will be free roam
I hope this game fells as fresh and fun as GTA III felt when I first laid my hands on it.
this makes me think of the cold war era
of course it obviously takes place during that time period 😛
maybe we'll get to spy on the russians!!! lol

I'm a whore in a few instances: Capcom and Rockstar. This game has the rockstar logo on it and will most likely scream quality.
Edit: Nothing wrong with whores I dont' judge. Fanboyism is a diff. beast. lol

I agree, I'm a Sony whore and a PC whore. Oh and also an ice cream whore.
i'm a sony and zombie whore.
I'm a whore(?)
I'm relieved that Rockstar are finally moving on. The GTA thing is a little long in the tooth. IV could have been so much more but sadly they went multiplat with it and faced storage limitations. Agent is going to rock our soxes.
While I was never a fan of GTA to begin with, I do have faith in RockStar North to give us a quality title with a breath of fresh air for PS3 gamers.
I hope their realistic (if dull) approach to the latest GTA is kept in check. Now they're working exclusively for the bestest console, it could be an uber realistic yawn fest.
ugh i hate the "word" uber *shuders*
I think it's uberiffically cool.
Pretty much the "support" that they get when they go exclusive is more financial than technical. Rather than try and start a new IP which is multiplatform they go exclusive so as to save themselves time and money developing it. Exclusives are cheaper to develop than multiplatform games – smaller teams can work on them.
really? i thought the exact opposite (well for ps3 at least) because it takes a lot more time to make a boog graphics game that has a long story and everything then a multi plat that you could throw together in a year
I should have been a bit more specific, in this instance, where a game engine is being built from the ground up it is cheaper than having to build an engine for each console without doing a port (i.e. concurrent development on both systems). You are only making one engine instead of two.
Also, most multiplatform games are also being built on 2nd or 3rd generation technology for this generation of consoles, which also makes development quicker (hence cheaper) than an exclusive.
But look at Insomniac, which is using 4th generation tech for the new Ratchet game which will be out this year and you can see how quick development has been for an exclusive – Resistance 2 was released at the end of last year.
And multiplatform games are only relatively cheaper than exclusives as they have a larger install base to sell games to, hence the return is larger.

So basically a sandbox game with a different setting.
Am I the only one seeing a correlation between this game and L.A. Noire?
Different period pieces.
Still see a correlation. And they both are R* games.
I'm probably just being difficult, I see your point. I'm looking forward to both of them, that's for sure.
Well they need to do something different than GTA, lets hope gameplay wise, it strays a bit far from it.
They said a while back that their next new IP would be exclusive because it could only be done on the PS3.
I hope they show us something more than just a update version of GTA with different settings…
This question made me LMAO,when Ben Feder was asked:
"Eurogamer: Have you heard much from Jack Thompson recently? I know he's one of your biggest fans…"
Of topic for a sec….
In the biggest news of the day,
"THIS SITE HAS JUST REACHED 10,000 MEMBERS"!!!!!
(Well 10,001 actually, but who's counting, LOL)
My "Congrats" go out to PSXextreme!
OK, back on topic

Like I said before, I am very excited about our exclusive game from Rockstar. I think we can all look forward to this game in the future.
