Gran Turismo 5 Receives UK Date Of November 27

Okay, everyone just calm down and take it easy. Let's not lose our heads over this…even if it's easy to do so.

We still don't have an official release date for Gran Turismo 5 , but most analysts and industry insiders are relatively convinced it won't make it this year. Realistically speaking, most believe that Q1 2010 is the earliest date one can hope for…and yet, as noted by TheSixthAxis , European website Play has the game listed with a November 27, 2009 release date. Now, a few things to bear in mind: firstly, series creator Kazunori Yamauchi did say GT5 is at a point where Sony can release it "any time" they want . Yamauchi is a perfectionist, though, so he intends to get the product as close to perfect as humanly possible. Secondly, November 27 doesn't appear to be a place-holder date, as those are typically random like December 31 or November 1, or something like that. Thirdly and lastly…well, there is no third. This is all we know. If GT5 does somehow manage to come out this year – and you can bet on a worldwide simultaneous launch – the PS3 is gonna get a huge boost, and that's an understatement.

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves , MAG , and Ratchet and Clank Future: A Crack in Time are just a few of the exclusives scheduled for 2009, and let's not forget God of War III in March. But if GT5 comes at the end of November, everything's gonna explode

I still believe it WILL release this year somewhere near the PSP GT launch. You can't promise all this inter-connectivity stuff and not be able to try it and tell your friends how totally awesome it is.

if the rumoured price drops comes at the same time as GT5 then… WOW… major sales for the ps3. cool!

It's what I've been predicting all along…Sony would be idiots to drop the price now, when they have nothing of major value in the pipeline. However, the GT franchise represents a possible 3-5 million unit seller, within the first couple months of release. Who knows how many people would be enticed into buying a PS3 w/ a $100 price drop and the launch of GT5.

That's the golden pony Sony needs.

Yeah, can you picture big B chasing a bunch of kiddies with a broom waving over his head while mumbling "damn kids"?

That's the image that I got, and for some reason he was wearing a maid's outfit… don't ask.

Looking around Play, they also seem to have Ratchet & Clank and Uncharted 2 for the exact same date, so it's definitely a placeholder. The other games are both 2009 though, which could be a good sign.

Nope, but it's definitely 800+ as the psp version has 800

That's far from a guarantee. The more detail that goes into each car, usually means the less total cars we'll see.

However, I am hopeful for a number into four digits. That would be lovely. 🙂

Not really, when it comes to detailing a car or something like that, it's not going to take all too much, probably most of the resources are going into the environment and physics.

It'd be a perfect day to release in the US as well given it lands on black Friday. Add in a possible bundle option w/new PS3 and SONY is set for the Holidays.

mixed feelings about this: 1. its GT, nuff said, 2. i really reaaaaally want to give nfs shift some love, but if GT5 indeed comes this year, there just wouldnt be any time to give to shift.

HOODGE

Catastrophe, once GT5 comes out, Shift, Forza 3, and others will be of little interest anymore. Because I own both PS3 and 360, I'm getting all three of those titles, but I know GT5 will be the one given the most love.

like i said, if gt comes this year, screw shift(not enough $$ for both), but if it comes until next year (march/april), then ill have… what, 4-5 months of shift goodness to play.

I can't wait for this one! This is going to be the most realistic racing sim ever and no one from M$ can do anything about it.

Wouldn't say that…I think GTR2 is still more realistic? But none-the-less, GT is the best you'll get on consoles, and I without a doubt am buying it day 1.

It will never be perfect, unfortunately. "Perfection" is a concept devoid of possibility, because you can add more and more. The only perfect games are those that can't have more added, like Tetris. As for GT, I'd prefer they release it soon; DLC can bring in new content that they're adding at the present time, unless they really are making big adjustments. My only hope is to see it hit ~25GB, which would be remarkable. And with compressed audio.

Tracks probably don't take up much space, actually. Think about everything from GT4-all under around 4-6GB. The only thing slowing them down there is making them balanced. So there really can be hundreds of tracks, given the space. Just filling it up is hard enough.

But a dual-layered BD disc wouldn't be good-the load times would take a huge hit, which are my biggest gripe of this series. They can easily stay below the 25GB line.

A little off topic here but you GT fans gotta here this about Forza 3.

Now I'm not here to bash Forza 3, it will be a good arcade/sim racer as they are really making it to look that way and I know that FM2 followed that path, but if you ever get a chance Ben/Arnold and all the others members here, please go to forzacentral.com where at the beginning of the page you will see 2 FM3 demonstration videos that took place at the time of the 24 hrs of LeMans. I believe Dan Greenawalt and that Che Chou made a special trip to France to attend the 24 hr race and to promote FM3.

The first video is a one lap demonstration on the Circuit De Lasarthe track in which Dan Greenawalt gives a super hyped speech intro first and sounding super confident about his almighty racer.

He mentions how amazingly gorgous the LMP1 LeMans cars look and how gorgous the track and draw distances look in the game. His cocky sounding voice and attitude really blend in well with the presentation. He then goes on to brag that he had the LMP1 Peugot team drivers each have a go on the circuit with their actual car and commented on how one of them said to him that finally someone has truly captured the look and feel of LeMans in a video game for the first time (I'm sure none of them have not had the opportunity to get their hands on PD's GT5 yet).

Anyways he takes the control pad (no wheel used by Dan Greenawalt – Figures), and proceeds to get the Peugot piloting down the track and does an absolutely horrible job of driving, bashing into the rear ends of the cars ahead of him and also mentioning how every car can flip and roll like it's the first to ever be done in a race game (and ever much so is the most arcadey/unrealistic damage rollovers I must confess seeing).

As he's flying down the first long straightaway, I notice the same sort of unintelligent AI much the same of FM2 where even tho a couple cars do spread out on both lanes, these seem content to follow the usual train track pattern and not acknowledge what is going on around them, as when Dan comes up on them down the straight, they seem oblivious to his presence. Seeing that was the first indication to me that his so called DEFINATIVE RACING GAME didn't seem to be as such.

Then he proceeds to rocket towards the first chicane pushing through cars and taking one into the sand with himself (which if done in real life like that would of spelled an amazing destructive crash scenario) marking the arcade race experience FM3 appears to look like. He does this so he can demonstrate his GRID like rewind feature so as to back up the race and attempt a cleaner run towards the chicane. He elaborates the rewind feature as excellent for drivers of all abilities and that it is useful in learning corners on tracks (funny the real drivers don't learn in real life that way – wow!! thats sim like).

He then lets the computer driver take over from him and finish the lap at the same time about bragging about his so called suggested line feature is something they created. Wrong. The GT series had that way before him.

While watching the remaining drive through the lap you can see at times some horrible pop up and nagging frame rate drops quite often which to me almost made me dizzy to look at. I'm sure they may iron some of that out, but not a good way to brag and promote your product as the definative racing game when it chugs along like the 360 may be working to hard and may blow up on you.

Then the 2nd video shows Peugots top driver Stephan Sarrazin having a go on the game with a Fanatec steering wheel and looking like he was majorly struggling to keep the car on the track. If it is a definative simulator, why can't Puegots best driver drive it like the real car? He was shaking his head from side to side like so as to say inside that this isn't how my real car drives. Lol's got a kick out of that. He even had the suggested driving line assist on..Hmmm makes you wonder what these guys think about Dan Greenawalts definative racing game doesn't it? I know that many racers use and praise GT simulators for practice and claim they are the best.

So all I can say is go to Forzacentral.com and check it out for yourselves. You'll get a better sense of why GT5 and Kaznori Yamauchi have nothing to worry about and how it will still and always remain the REAL DRIVING SIMULATOR. Great news if it comes out this November as Ben mentions in his article. PS3 is going to go over the top!!

I'm not done watching the video where he's showing the game and about to do the lap but he talks to the crowd like they're stupid. He stumbles a lot and then his presentation doesn't seem very structured for what he's trying to accomplish. I'm not trying to say he's an idiot but it hurts just to hear and watch that presentation. I would expect more from someone in his position.

Just a note for Ben/Arnold and all members here. Please check out Forzacentral.com and at the top of the page their are a total of 4 videos to watch.

Check out the EDIT 2 category. Their are 3 videos in that section. Check out the first one on the Forza Motorsport 3 press conference where Dan Greenawalt spends time on the floor discussing the history of the Forza franchise and how FM3 is the definative racing game. He also goes into great depths to explain simulation physics and how Forza 1,2, and 3 have all had the best cutting edge physics. You will find this quite amuzing.

Ben and Arnold would love to hear a article from the both of you on Dan Greenawalt and your thoughts of these so called videos, and his immense so called knowledge of real car physics. Would make a very interesting article.

Seems this Dan Greenawalt guy thinks he is the father of the racing simulator. Check it out. Hope to hear some articles on this.

Thanks, but I think the two big articles we already did on this subject is enough (unless Arnold wants to do another).

I think by now Greenawalt has embarrassed himself enough. LOL 😉

Wow o_O

At least they got millions of people to have complete faith that this is what a driving game should be. Some of those people could've started loving racing because of the series.

But still lol
